We did not have a good experience today. I usually get the same thing. I always loved their Almond Fried Chicken. It was different. Instead of slices of chicken, it had the same chicken which they used in the sweet and sour chicken. The gravy was totally different, very watered down and was very bland. The waitress brought me the wrong order. I could not communicate with her as I do not speak Chinese and her English was very limited. She never brought me a refill either. A teenage girl (not my waitress) came by and asked how my meal was. She understood English. I told her this wasn't what I ordered. She made no apology or explanation, in fact no response at all and disappeared into the kitchen. I'm American. I speak English. The error of communication was not mine. Learn English. I ordered the Phoenix and Dragon(my favorite), Sweet and Sour Shrimp and the Egg Rolls. My daughter came in the room screaming mommy there is a bug in my shrimp! I have eaten at the Mandarin Garden for years. So sad this is my last time. How unsanitary. And disgusting! Definitely disappointing and they are closed so I can't even call to request a refund. I have been eating at Mandarin since 1993 and its hands down the best Chinese in Rockdale or Newton counties. Ownership changed a few years ago and I was scared they would change the menu... So far, it's stayed the same. I sorely miss the previous owner and her smile and personality, but I am thrilled the current owners kept the same quality, same food and same recipes. If you want recommendations on what to try... Well, thats gonna be difficult, but here are my top choices. General Tsao chicken, twice cooked pork, kung pao chicken, mongolian chicken... Have never had anything here i didnt love. Nothing greasy, and nothing, (not even the soups), is made with an overload of cornstarch, thank goodness. No where as good as it used to be but still the best in Conyers. I think it changed ownership a few years back. The steamed pot stickers are my go-to, eggrolls are dynamite and the house fried rice and house lo mein are really good. This is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Conyers. They have been here for years and their food has not changed. Something special they have on the menu is sesame beef. I have had sesame chicken plenty of times before, but never beef till now. They fry it up perfect every time. It has become my new go to dish along with the Peking chicken. The food is above average for mid price Chinese. It's not far from I20 so its easy for a quick drop-in for lunch when traveling. Food is buffet style and has a pretty good assortment. I will return again if given an opportunity. read more

Best Chinese buffet in Conyers/Covington area. The selection is not huge but everything tastes great. The sweet and sour chicken and shrimp are crispy and full of flavor. The fried chicken wings are the best I've ever had at a Chinese restaurant. The sesame chicken and some of the other chicken dishes that are premixed in the sauces were a little soggy with the breading falling off but it tasted great. Ordered take-out late afternoon. Sesame chicken was of quality and well cooked and seasoned, a little creamy for my taste but it had carrots peas and onions which was a pleasant surprise. Steamed rice was not fresh and seemed microwaved, didn't eat it. Hot and sour soup was excellent, good balance of ingredients and had chicken and shrimp besides the tofu, yes shrimp! The place seemed clean, a little above your average buffet. The service was prompt and courteous with adequate English. Amazing food. I come here most often for dinner but also enjoy the lunch Buffett. The food is always steaming hot and fresh. Never had to wait to be seated either. The hot braised wings are huge and delicious. And if you get a platter from the combinations menu they give you endless refills of steamed or fried rice. Definitely recommend! We just moved to the area and we tried Mandarin Garden last night... The food was really great! I ordered the House Lo Mein and asked them to make it spicy (which they did) and my husband ordered the Peking Chicken. I appreciated how they separated the sauce from the chicken - to prevent it from getting soggy. I think this Chinese Restaurant is pretty darn good for the money and the food was truly yummy. These folks bring our small portions at a time to the buffet bar and are continually refilling so the food never sits. It is always hot and fresh. Went to Mandarin Garden twice, since it was close to where we were staying and both times there were just a couple of customers - they never appear busy, which means we get served quickly! The food is good, not the best but definitely reasonable for the price you pay. Customer service is so so. In the couple of times we visited, one lady was very nice and another just takes your order and gets on with what she was doing (talk on the pone!) This place is located in a shopping plaza and right between a Mexican restaurant and Dollar Store, so at first I was hesitant. The place was very good and the portions are very generous. There are alot of Chinese restaurants in Conyers that claim to be the best. This is one of the best places to get Chinese food. The service is great especially the owner who always comes out to see how your doing. The food is also good and you don't have to wait a long time for it either. This is my favorite Chinese restaurant by far. We are always treated like family, the food is the best around and the staff is very accommodating. My husband and I ate there last night with a total of 16, including 7 children. Our friends who had never been there were very impressed with the food and the service. We were looking for a different Chinese Restaurant close to our home and we came upon Mandarin House in Jackson, Georgia. The Chicken Curry my wife had was especially good. I generally get Chicken Fried Rice and mine was some of the best I have eaten. Last week we had family visiting and we all went there and they made all twelve of us feel really welcome! The foods were all great and the service was exceptional! We plan on taking another group of fourteen there on Wednesday. Even as it will be Ash Wednesday we have full faith that we will be fully satisfied and can have some of our meals to cater to our need of no-meat requirements for a Catholic! We have always been very satisfied with our meals and the service that we receive! One of the best Chinese Restaurants we have discovered!
