This place is great for the price. Not the best Chinese I've ever had, but it's really good and still a good price. I got the shrimp with vegetables. I do think the vegetables are poached prior and kept cool because the food was not as hot as I like. That would be the only compliant. Please cook the veggies a little longer so that they are hot. I can never get enough of this spot. Love the flavors in all the dishes I have ordered from here! My by far fav is the sizzling rice soup. We ordered the pancit one time by mistake thinking it was one of the crunchy noodle dishes, but damn, sure glad we messed that order up, because it is another favorite of ours. We call ahead and they tell us it will be ready in 10 mins, and then never fail! It really is hot n ready all while being fresh within the time they tell you! I ordered the sweet and sour pork and my husband had kung pow chicken, we both had chow mein, an order of potstickers and an order of rangoons also if I'm not mistaken. Honestly, some of the best Chinese food I've had in Salinas. It tasted fresh and it tasted like they put care into your meal. We got the Imperial Delight, general chicken, fried rice and chow mein. So where do I start. Our usual Chinese food place was closed so we decided to try this place out. We ordered the crab Rangoon, chicken fried rice and chow mein, Mongolian beef, and salt and pepper pork. Everything was delicious. The chicken fried rice was my fave but everything else had good flavor and of course portions were huge. The crab Rangoons were a hit. Everything was tasty and was fresh. Arrived for a late lunch on a Friday afternoon close to 3:00pm. The place was COMPLETELY EMPTY, which is usually a red flag for ANY restaurant. I ordered the Mongolian Beef lunch special ($8.45) and water. Comes with the daily soup which today was (2) little wontons dropped in a small bowl of salty and bland chicken broth. Food was brought out quickly, then why shouldn't it since I was the only diner. Initially it looked good, however while eating most of it covered quite a bit of grease that settled to the bottom of the plate. The "chow mein" was just noodles cooked with soy sauce and lots of oil. The Mongolian beef sat on a pile of onions and fried rice noodles again sitting on a puddle of grease. I did my best to wade through it with my fork trying not to slurp up the excess fat. I asked the server what kind of chow mein this was as there was nothing in it but a plate of gooey noodles covered in soy sauce. She said in a Chinese brogue "...chow mein pan fried noodle...!" Really I answered back, I further said the chow mein I've eaten in every Chinese restaurant has a little vege's & meat in it. And she barks back at me "...Nooo! Chow mein is pan fried noodle..!" WHAT the CHOPSTICK! Interestingly, not one person came in while I was there nor did the phone ring for take out orders...hmmm? Will NOT be coming back unless I need oil for the car! read more

You ordered the combination plate and you got a huge tray of food, back then it used to be about $3.00 maybe a little more, but you couldn't beat the price, for the amount of food and the great flavor! Now I am back in town, and sure prices have gone up, it has been almost 20 years since I found this place, I was very pleased to find out that it is still in business, the food is still great, the service fantastic, I still come here with friends and family. I've eaten here twice now, once in the restaurant and once just takeout, both for lunch. It's not the best Chinese food I've had, but it's pretty good. On the first visit my coworker ordered the Mongolian Beef lunch special which comes with wonton soup, an eggroll or fried wonton, and steamed rice. She seemed pleased with it, though not enthralled. My biggest complaint is that there are no vegetarian items on the lunch special menu even though they have a pretty good selection of vegetarian entrees. I ordered the Vegetable Tofu stirfry and steamed rice. It was actually very good, and didn't get that weird gelatinous texture that some places tofu dishes get. Another gripe: the place smells like strange cleaning products, yet the tabletops were still sticky. I ordered the Vegetable Tofu again on my second visit, for take out. I'd have to stay that eating the food outside the restaurant makes it taste much better. The takeout portions are pretty large, in fact I just finished off the rest of yesterday's order for lunch today. Bottom line: It's acceptable, and close to my office. I'd go back. read more
