Its probably been a good 10-15 years since my last visit so I was like what the hell all these negative reviews cant be right. But, they are. On this visit I ordered Orange Chicken, Fried Egg Rolls, Shrimp Fried Rice and House Pan Fried Noodle Sizzling Plate. The Orange Chicken was not pieces instead somehow I got a large clump of pieces stuck together. Some did not even have any sauce on them, most of the sauce was just at the bottom of the container like I was supposed to mix my own. The Shrimp Fried Rice was also not good. Instead of the rice being crispy and fried, it was soft and also just a ball of soggy rice. The House Plate was also pretty bad. Large pieces of vegetables not alot of noodles and tons of sauce at the bottom of the plate instead of everything else. Honestly I know this is hard to believe but I would have rather had Panda Express and thats saying something. Needless to say I wont be back. read more

A friend took me here after I said I wanted Chinese and I really enjoyed it. Was surprised by its location in the middle of the shopping center, don't usually visit this one. We went during a Sunday and the place was empty when we walked in. Later during the food a big group came and then a man coming to sit down solo. My friend said the server was the son of the owners I believe? He could not be nicer, very attentive and even at the end when we got our leftovers to go he told us he had given us more soup for our to-go container, unheard of! The food was great, we had won ton soup, sizzling plate, and some fried rice. Big portions we could finish none of it. Enjoyed it so much got a to-go order a couple weeks ago. Place looked trashy inside and out, tables were "sticky" dirty, condiment bottles were half empty and dirty. Overall this place is not clean at all. I've been coming here for years but lately the service has been horrible. The workers are nice but they don't attend to you like they used to. Was literally waiting for 15 minutes for someone to take my order I kept looking around hinting for someone to come and take my order. There was only maybe two or three other table of people there so no excuse for the service to be that poor. They had like two people at the register and no one was attending the tables. They don't even come to ask if you need anything while eating nor do they even ask you if you need a to go box or give you your check. You have to get up and go ask for that yourself. Your better off ordering the food to go. The food is still good taste the same as always. Seems like the place is being run by teenagers now. Its a place close to my heart. My late grandma used to bring the whole family here before she's passed so this place has a survival spot reserved in my food heart. I've seen karens come and get mad when the staff matches their energy. They work hard and they know it and they wont take anything from anyone. So if you want delicious authentic Chinese food come in with an empty stomach a happy attitude and you'll have the time of your life. My go to is always the hot plate, house deluxe won ton soup, chicken fried rice, and an order of egg rolls. I hate to admit it but i have a problem when i come here. Really bad food. Waited 45 minutes for take out. When I asked where my food was after 30 minutes was told potstickers take along time to cook. When I got home the pitstickers were ice cold.(I live 5 min away) I've been going to this restaurant since 2007. I paid $27. For the worst meal ever. The chicken in my dish was burnt! Never had that happen with Chinese food. Very few pieces of beef and 2 shrimp and a head a broccoli, I had to dig thru all the broccoli to find the burnt chicken. The fried rice I ordered was more than half white rice. This was my favorite go to place, so disappointed. $27. For a meal I had to toss. I went to pick it up (I drove 8 hours today, and was dead, but the kids really wanted Chinese, oooookaaaaay). As soon as I walked in, the man at the register said "Pickup? Mandarin and orange?" This place has really gone downhill. I used to frequent this place for years, but I think this will be my last visit. Every time I've been here, the meat has a bad taste, like it's several days old. It's disgusting. The servers are rude and unwelcoming. We were not offered water, and were only given 2 napkins for a group of 4. One of them scolded my young sister for trying to take a toothpick from the dispensers. The restaurant itself is unkempt and old. Everything from the tables to the bathroom are dirty and feel sticky. Horrible Food no Flavor how so ever. The House chow mein had no colors the steak was not even edible it was so chewy and I also got Orange Chicken and Sweet and Sour Chicken worse decision of my life it was smothered on the Sauce and it wasn't tasty at all. Oh and if you get soda you get no refills because they are stingy so that was my last time I'll be stepping in to this place. Yeah... not the best Chinese restaurant, but a great Mexican Chinese restaurant. They cater to Mexican flavored Chinese food (which is pretty smart in Salinas): lots of oily, soy sauced, sweet and sour, fried stuff. Not that is a bad thing if you like that sort of flavor; but it is not a typical Chinese restaurant like the ones found in the Bay Area. I ordered the Empress Spareribs and the Gee something with fried Wonton. I got tricked by the menu stating that the Empress Spareribs is a must have. It is not. It is just sweet and sour + batter fried on bones. There weren't any meat on the ribs! So definitely skip that. The Geegow blah blah fried Wonton is pretty decent. A bit too salty for my taste but you get 4 kinds of meat on it and the portion was decent. The rice they gave us was stale... guess not many people eat the food here with steam rice. Everyone around me had either fried rice or chow mein. Conclusion: All in all, this was a barely OK restaurant. However, I don't know why anyone would come here when there is a great buffet place down the road that offers much better food for just few dollars more. Staff- is HORRABLE!!!!!!!! They are very rude and seem annoyed if you ask for an extra fork!!! They should have some sort of training for them. Food is okay. Im a local and have ate here for many years however the place has turned trashy. They get plenty of customers daily youd think theyd upgrade the place. Tables are sticky and the place always looks dirty. I found a small roach in my wonton soup and when i told them about it they just looked at me. Service isnt that great.
