I just spent $30+ for lunch takeout and could not force myself to eat any of it. Truly the worst Chinese food I have tasted. Cashew nut chicken had zero cashews and had a couple of peanuts. They serve the standard "Chinese" food that you find in the American midlands. It's good if you're hungry, but it's nothing special. Their service is always very good, though, and the food is consistent. But what I really like is how you can order takeout via their website (https://mandarinhouse.takeout1.com). You can select your dishes (they even have pictures of most things), choose your options (e.g. curry/no curry on the low mein), and pay all online. You then go and pick up your order at whatever time you've chosen. It works amazingly well. I've done it several times, and my order has always been correct and ready on-time. read more

This place was only spot with a huge a huge banquet room to accommodate my out of town family along with our local family! The manager, Kevin, was very helpful with sorting out the menu... and made sure we had everything we needed. I was able to come earlier than our time slot... to set up any decorations we wanted... and I was able to bring a cake for our celebration! We were well take care of... and the food was delicious! Wow! Best Chinese in town! Really impressed with the sweet and sour chicken and vegetable hearts. Quick preparation for take out and the staff was super friendly. COVID precautions were appreciated. Signs on floors to maintain 6' distance and all the staff in masks. Definitely returning! read more

It was horrible it smells like rotten food in the building and my orange chicken had a global of hair in it and my rice was cold and it was mixed with many other foods all in all I did not have a good experience at this restaurant. read more

LOVE this place! If you eat here you have to order egg rolls. I've literally searched at dozens of chinese food places all across the US throughout the years to find egg rolls like they have here, have not been able to find any. They'er not like the little rice paper wrapped rolls (that I'm sure are delivered frozen by the local Sysco food service) you find everywhere else. These are huge and handmade. Everything on the menu is pretty greasy, it's kind of old school chinese diner food. But it's really good and you get huge servings for your money. Their Fried rice is spectacular. Really good chow mein too (though I'm not much of a chow mein fan). I live in Utah now but whenever I'm in Poky to visit family, this is where I eat. My favrite place in Pocatello to eat. read more

Hard to recommend this place. The chow mein and fried rice had bacon bits in it, who does that? Also all the food was slimy with WAAAY too much corn starch. Food was bland and inedible as if it was all cooked in a wok at the same time and not cooked separately then combined as this type of food should be. The chicken had no sear and flavorless. The food was over salted.The egg roll was more of an egg burrito that had...potato in it? Not sure how this could possibly be called Chinese food. read more

Mandarin is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants. They have fast service and good food. I usually order the lunch special 13 and yes they even let me order it during dinner hours. They have large portions sizes and an added bonus, come products. I recommend you try them out. read more

Nice clean atmosphere. Friendly service, decent prices. One drawback......not real concerned about food allergies. If you have a food allergy, say for example to "pork"....expect that they will bring you a new plate...but since they don't rotate woks the chances of you getting pork in your second dish is highly likely. Otherwise.....it's an ok place. Addendum: I have lowered the rating due to they did not even offer to remove the charge for above mentioned entree that could not be eaten...due to food allergy. Not the cleanest of places. The restrooms are disgusting and the doors look like hepatitis is growing on them. It's a good place for take out but after eating in a few times I'm not sure I want to eat there anymore. I get old dirty carpet but the tables were dirty and a decade of boogers and gum stuck to the undersides of the table. (Discovered this retrieving a mischievous toddler...) The quality of food has gone down dramatically in the last couple years.... the final straw for losing my business is when you post business hours, stay open for those hours..... sick of calling to place an order or driving across town to find they are closed early...... again... 4/20/18 In response to your snarky comment about Chang's not being open on Monday, they may not be open Mondays, but they are always open when there posted hours say they will be. When the food is good it really good. The wait staff is great and the restaurant is clean. They have some round tables that are great for a large group of friends. A family favorite! Lunch specials are a great deal and their service is really fast! The sweet n sour chicken is our favorite.

So this is like the third time in a year that we've called our order in and they told us how long it would take to be ready. We go in, and, not only is it not ready, but they seem to have not even have placed the order. So they add on another 15-20 minutes. You would THINK they would rush our order to the front since they botched placing it, but no... people come in, order, and get their food as we still wait for our minimal order. No apology when we get the food. No offer to give us 10% off the price. Just poor service with a half smile. I believe we're done with Mandarin house, and I intend to spread my displeasure through word of mouth as well. If you go, the food is not bad. 3/5 maybe. Unfortunately, we like the rice. read more

Today I buried my 20 year old son. It was the hardest thing I have ever done. He was my world. Mandarin house was his and my favorite place to eat. Kevin the manager was a friend of his. I let Kevin know we were bring the family, and he held the place up after closing, and then he and his staff gave us an incredible meal, and nothing but dedicated service to the loved ones of his "friend". Hands down my favorite restaurant in Pocatello. Their salt and pepper calamari is to DIE for. Their soups are good enough to eat 7 days a week. The service is great. The décor is dated, but who cares! They have a large dining room off to the side with large tables and a lot of room. We have family birthday parties there every year. My husband is probably the only person I the world who isn't a Chinese food fan, but even he loves the fried rice and soups. read more

Truth be told, I love their food. It is their service that I am giving the mediocre review for. Several times when I have been in the restaurant itself I have not seen my server in between getting my food and my check. I find that unacceptable. And now, last night, I got an order of sweet and sour chicken with fried rice to go. We brought our two small daughters (the youngest is nineteen months old) because we just needed a night out of the house. The baby was a little fussy, but on the whole not badly behaved. Well anyway, about halfway through the meal, she started crying. My wife immediately started comforting her, but almost as soon as she could, the lady seated across the aisle literally yelled at my daughter to hush. I couldn't believe it; I was so flabbergasted I didn't know how to react, but our waiter, Devin, jumped to her defense. He explained that she's a child, and this is a family restaurant. Even though that couple ended up leaving in a huff, the manager came and made sure that we were okay and that we were well taken care of. This has always been my favorite Chinese restaurant in town, and my experience tonight only confirmed my loyalty. Thanks for making us feel valued. read more

Just moved to Inkom from So Cal been looking for a good Chinese restaurant. Mandarin House recommended by a fellow recently relocated from Seattle. We went for lunch. What a surprise lunch plates available all day. Walked in and it was like being home in So Cali the local Chinese restaurant, modest furnishings and extremely clean restaurant. Waitress was very helpful and friendly. We had the lunch combo mine chow mien and General Tso chicken. My husband had the Mandarin Chicken and chow Mein. Oh wait 3 kinds of chow mien to choose. Crispy noodles, or Cantonese style or Lo mein style. Soooo good. Growing up with several Asian friends never judge restaurant by decor, in fact if it's too fancy food will be lacking... Mandarin House was a truly excellent Resturant nice yet modest interior. Service fast and efficient. Quality food excellent and we will be back. read more

I love American-Chinese food and had fairly low expectations for this restaurant. That said, this place was gross. All of our to go entrees were mushy and fairly flavorless. Perhaps the strangest thing were the egg rolls - battered and fried (odd). I was starving and I couldn't finish my plate - ended up supplementing my meal with some toast at home. Also threw out the leftovers. The best part of the meal was the fortune cookies. Please look elsewhere for decent food. read more

I felt like the food was changed from the last time I was there. I felt that the chow mein was equivalent to that you buy in a can. The egg rolls were large and weren't too bad. The fried pot stickers were basically globs of sausage inside a fried shell. The fried rice was white rice with a few pieces of egg, green onions and pork (ham). The thing that was a little unnerving was actually how fast the food came to the table; too quick to have been made fresh. And then the actual meals were delivered within 2 minutes of the appetizer egg rolls; also an indicator that things were not made fresh. Probably won't go back. read more
