Went to Mandarin Kitchen for a quick lunch date and was pleasantly surprised with this wonderful little gem. We were greeted by our brightly smiling hostess and immediately. Almost immediately we were greeted again by our waiter with water. He was polite and attentive. We had a couple questions about the menu and this gentleman was eager to answer. We decided on the Orange Chicken and Singapore Noodles. The meals came out in a very timely manner and piping hot. The Orange Chicken had plenty of flavor and the perfect crispness to match. The Singapore noodles were absolutely delicious with a perfect balance of curry. Some places can use too much, not here. Our drinks were topped off as service constantly came by with refills. All in all if you're in Montgomery Village and have an appetite, head over to Mandarin Kitchen- you won't be disappointed. read more

When I found out a new seafood place was opening in Santa Rosa I knew I had to try it! I saw lobster rolls on the menu and immediately knew what I needed to try. The lobster roll includes four different styles from Maine-Style to Connecticut-Style to LGBTL to Crispy. I opted for Connecticut-Style with butter as it sounded delicious and was just as delicious as I imaged. The portion was decent for a lobster sandwich and it came with a side of fries. I enjoyed my lobster roll with an amazing bottle of Quivira Sauvignon Blanc and finished out the night with a almond chocolate brownie for dessert. The brownie is served with rum raisin gelato. The gelato was a little too strong of a rum taste for my liking. The restaurant atmosphere is modern and includes a lounge area, bar and the restaurant has a large fish tank in the middle of the room. Service was very attentive throughout my entire experience. I look forward to visiting Tony's Galley again soon. The menu has a lot of options and I can't wait to try something new next time! read more

Stopped by tonight for some dinner. Have always loved the ambiance and decor here. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. They gave recommendations and the food came out super fast! They even brought us a free appetizer, the white shrimp crisps pictured below. Can't remember what they called them. I wish there were more options on the menu but there were plenty of things for us to try. We started off with the Bang bang shrimp and Hot and sour soup. The shrimp were super yummy. The hot and sour wasn't our favorite but we are a bit of hot and sour soup "snobs" and have a type we like. Others may totally love it. The fried rice was our favorite and the Kung Pow Ribeye was good. I hear they have a good happy hour too so we will be back to try that! read more

Not sure what kind of business they're thinking of getting, but taking away a food happy hour isn't it! I went with my cousin many times before and always enjoyed it. Once we heard of the new place opening in Montgomery Village, we had to try it. Omg everything was so delicious! We went during happy hours and we loved both the regular menu and the happy hour menu. Wow, my new favorite restaurant. My wife and I had bang bang shrimp, curried chicken and scallop tacos. OMG, all 3 were fantastic. Also had a Negroni cocktail substituting Whiskey for the gin. Wow, definitely gonna order that again. Ended with a matcha cream cheese cake. Awesome. And, Holiday, our server was the best. Had a great dining experience here at Tony's Galley. This place is brand new, only been open for a few weeks I believe? I read about it online and had to try since I'm a huge seafood lover! I got a few things to try and overall was impressed with them all! This place is a but pricey, but most seafood restaurants are. The star of the show for me were the grilled king crab legs, although I did feel that I received very little/small bits and pieces as opposed to the two long legs I've seen in others' photos. The LGBLT lobster roll was great, I just wish it would've had more meat, but perhaps next time I can try one of the other rolls that were less busy and see if it makes a difference. The oysters are generally hard to mess up but the sauces they have here were perfect! Calamari was presented very well, but were a little under-seasoned for my taste (although the accompanying Aioli sauce helped a lot). The marinated baby octopus was very interesting to try! It's a cold dish, and the flavors weren't quite what I was expecting, but my sister tried it and she liked it! Overall, it was a great experience, and I'm looking forward to coming back and trying the other menu items as well! read more

Chef/owner Tony ALWAYS has winner restaurants and this is yet another one. Though I must say i was sad to see Tony's Galley close as they had food unavailable elsewhere near by. But this is good too. We had Sea Bass, Salt and Pepper Prawns, Calamari and wonton soup. All were good though noting stood out as stellar but we will probably be back. Kung Pao Ribeye was amazing. It's a great steak, cut up into medium-small pieces, with veggies and peanuts. The flavor is perfect and about a medium spice level. Perfection! We chose their delicious Sticky Rice to go along with it, the portion size is not the usual huge rice size, it comes wrapped in a banana leaf, but was some of the best rice I've ever had. The Chocolate Lava Cake was fantastic along with the ice cream. The cake was the right level of moisture and freshness and contained a large maraschino-type of cherry in the middle. I've been wanting to try their place. I started with a Bloody Mary that said it had BACON ( large lettering) then in small print salt rim. Turns out it has bacon flavor salt rim. I kind of scolded them because i thought it had a nice big peace of bacon like other places do ( not). I returned it for the pictures hibiscus roses lemon drop which they said was really fancy...but it wasn't even full and the sugar rim did not cover the entire glass rim. We got two seafood dishes, the house special, which was mahi mahi with a garlic butter sauce, accompanied by rice and veggies. The sauce on the fish was ok, but veggies were very plane ( tasted steamed), but at least they were not overcooked, they were not overdone, still lightly crisp. The second dish i did really like; the spicy seafood pasta. The scallops and pieces of basil and mushroom were so yummy! We accompanied our seafood with balletto pinot grigio which was nice. Our server was very nice and did give us a large pour in our wine. 4 or 5 stars next time if they get better drinks happening, Flavor up all those veggies? The entire bill for our dishes, drinks, plus we're got a friend a salad was $105 before tip. They treated us much nicer than Sea Thai, though same owners. It was sad to see Tony's Galley close, but I had confidence in the owner/chef to provide a fresh new menu in a different cuisine. Food was decent, but I feel the menu lacked the identity of Mandarin cuisine. Highlight was the fried rice! Very tasty Chinese sausage that complemented well with all of the other ingredients in the dish. The Vietnamese crepe needs to be made and served crispier! The scallops/eggplant and sea bass dish were good, but tasted very similar in flavor. It would have been nice to have some contrast. Noodle dishes were good, but I've had better at their other restaurants (Sea Thai). This was opening weekend, so I will be back soon to try them again! read more

Everything I've ever ordered from here has been delicious. Everyone that orders the orange chicken says that's the first time that it actually taste like orange. The Kung pow beef is a must try. You can order kind of like family style during dinner. The portions are big, so you can order a meat entrée and a noodle or rice dish and pair of them together . If you go during lunch hours then you can get the lunch specials that come with their own sides. My favorite appetizer is the scallop tacos. They're so good! The service is always great. Was craving some fish tonight, ordered the fish tacos. They were absolutely delish, however, for $18 3 very small 1-2 bite tacos with less than 1/3 of the taco filled with fish... I was quite frustrated. Was it fresh? Yes. Was it tasty? Yes. Do I want fish in each bite of taco? Yes. Did I get that? Not at all. I decided to weigh the fish for fun... 1.6oz of rock cod. 1.6oz for $18. To say I was disappointed is a massive understatement. When Tony's Galley closed in this site, there was a collective sigh of despair. Then, however, Tony reopened with Mandarin Kitchen and everyone is happy again! His reimagined concept is Asian fusion... fresh, exciting, tasty. A guest may indoors or on the sunny patio. In Santa Rosa, CA we can still eat outdoors in December. Lucky us. I cannot resist the hot and sour soup. I keep thinking I'll change it up, and I never do. My guest says that their calamari is the best ever. New spot in Montgomery village and its a great welcoming! Featuring fresh seafood dishes and craft cocktails this spot is my new happy hour go to! They have a great lunch and dinner menu but my personal favorite is the steal of the happy hour menu. Loaded with amazing house selections of different appetizers you will walk away full and not paying a drastic amount. The service is incredible staff always checking on you answering any of your questions needed. They have a great relaxing ambiance inside with, a few tables set up outside. Only recommendation is they perfect the fish and chips a little more and aim for a more crispy bite, but I will sure be making more visits here! read more

Went tonight after a doctor's appointment, decided to treat myself to happy hour...7 days a week! I had Thai cheese steak toast, lobster salad toast, crab spring rolls, margaritas...oh and fried calamari, forgot photo. So good, extremely reasonable for the price. Smoked salmon avocado toast Way too much going on some sort of overpowering tarter sauce or vinegar and/or too many capers but hey, I respect their experimentation, the clam chowder could have used less experimentation it seemed like it was an attempt at curry fusion but you couldn't taste the curry and all the clam chowder taste was cancelled out. The butternut pasta was very lazy they could have created a sauce from butternut but this was just pasta with drizzled olive oil and butternut chunks thrown in. WOW! A year in a half since I reviewed Tony's Galley seafood, this spot turned into Mandarin Kitchen! Super quick, was Tony's Galley not doing well? Same chef & owner. Anyways, keeping along with his other asian themed restaurants, this is Chinese fusion. You get dim sum options, soups, salads, meats, seafood, and veggie on the menu. I ordered a bit of each...the steam Har Gow, Baby Bok Choy, BBQ pork fried rice, and the lunch version of the Kung Pow chicken (they also have a version with shrimp). The flavors are all there, loving the freshness of the har gow with the spicy sauce. The baby bok choy with Garlic, I felt was skimped. Not enough veggies and a whole lot of sauce. Fried rice was excellent. Kung Pao although good was overly salty. Luckily, I did not ask but a tub of white rice was included and with that, the kung pao was much more edible. I think making minor adjustments to some dishes would make this place successful. Good first try at this new establishment! read more

Wow! Can't beat this $16 lunch special. Fresh salad with a zesty vinaigrette. The clam chowder was so flavorful and surprisingly packed with veggies. The lobster roll didn't disappoint with a soft bread roll and perfectly seasoned lobster. We had our lunch outside, but we saw the beautiful decor inside too and only decided to sit outside because the weather was too nice that we couldn't miss it. 7/24/24 BUYER BEWARE. I ordered one order of their appetizer bang bang shrimp - $8. My son went to pick it up. They told him the charge was $15. He called me immediately. I told my son to be aware of the bill and that it should not exceed $8 plus tax. The woman explained that it was more because "it was a larger size ". There is no other menu item in a larger size, I was not asked if I wanted a larger size, they just upcharged because they thought they could get away with it. The reason I'd asked my son to be aware of the bill is because this happened the last time we picked up food a few weeks ago, with a much larger order. THEY DON'T PROVIDE A RECEIPT OF COURSE. We are huge fans of SEA Thai Bistro and SEA Noodle Bar. So when we found out about Tony's Galley, we were excited. Well, we've been, we've eaten -- and we know now why it's important that restaurants have "soft" opens. The food quality is exactly as top-notch as anyone who's been to any of owner-chef Tony's other places would rightfully expect. Portions are decent to generous, and prices are reasonable for the quality you get. The fish and chips and chowder were both standouts, and the quality, portion size, and price make the surf and turf one of the best such deals we've found in Sonoma County. The restaurant is lovely, and service is friendly, but there are still kinks being worked out. A member of the party at a table near ours never got the french fries he requested. The chili-marinated baby octopus was prepared perfectly, but the lightly dressed greens upon which it rested were too acidic. My LGBLT lobster roll was lacking in "B" (bacon), "G" (garlic butter), and the tobiko promised on the menu. And the bar was not yet fully stocked -- there was gin, but no vermouth, for example. Tried the Shu Mai, pork buns, and scallop tacos. Everything eas absolutely delicious! Very tasty sauces served along with very well cooked and seasoned dishes. The only reason it's not 5 stars is the scallops could have used 30 seconds more on each side. But 100% percent would recommend and I will definitely be back! Maybe tomorrow. read more

I went in for a quick solo lunch and enjoyed some of the best calamari ever! Super tender, practically melted with every bite. Shrimp chips were generous in portion and puffed to perfection (no hard edges or greasiness) and tangy sweet dip served alongside. The Lemongrass oysters were a visual show stopper with exquisite presentation, but delicate oysters were lost in an overly salty liquor garnished by dill, shallot and cilantro and unfortunately the lemongrass was not a prominent flavor. But they just seemed confused or they didn't know how to serve. Not sure which one. It took about 15 minutes for us to get water & then eventually a watered down margarita & the wrong lemon aid. I LOVE seafood! I had heard many good things about Tonys Galley... and decided to try it on a whim! I went in around 8pm. It was definitely Vibin and packed. Found a little seat at the bar, sat down and was quite pleased with the seafood options in the menu! I ended up ordering the steak and lobster tail (was only $35? $39?). Excellent price for the amount and quality for sure! It was delicious!! Incredible flavor! Excellent red wine options that you don't find everywhere (very nice to see). Annoying af that soo many restaurants all carry the same or very similar wines by the glass. Blah. Only downside for me is the size of the bar. That was a design flaw from my experience and the imho.
