We stumbled upon this nice family owned restaurant off of Santa Rosa Ave, and wow did it blow us away! Our first course was the fried wontons and bbq chicken spring rolls (10-10). The main dish of Phad Thai was an experience in itself. The flavors were intense but satisfying. To wash it down we had the Thai iced tea and I wish I could've drowned myself in it. The sandwich was delicious! I really liked the bread, which was soft and crisp (but not so much that it would destroy the roof of your mouth). The chicken was moist and flavorful. It had all the fixins like Mayo Butter, pate, pickled veggies, etc. The sandwich was honestly elite and I would highly recommend it! This place is Cambodian (Khmer)/Laos style more than Vietnamese/Thai style. This is what I've been craving since moving to the north bay! The pho is more similar to Ka'Thiew with its sweeter, richer, more flavorful broth. You can request they use prahok (and amazing they actually have it, they should over just a simple cut steak on the menu with crack sauce!) with the larb to make it have that extra umph or how my family calls it "stinky/fishy" flavor, but I think it's originally a more Thai style if you don't ask. Only thing I'd note is a side of rice is $3.50, dang that's expensive. Otherwise, it hit a soft spot and the food tasted like my childhood. There's a nice parking area they have, the staff are very friendly and the perfect amount of attentive. I love all the paintings on the wall and would love to see them hang up some clothes that represents Cambodia as well, would be a fun way to fill some of the space. I understand why they use Vietnamese menus, some Americans that aren't used to newer cultures dish names will be less likely to try it. I was in process of having my tires replaced and had driven past the noodle palace many many times. So being 10 minutes away from tire replacement. It was my day to try advertising fresh noodles. I ordered a noodle bowl with Pad Thai presentation. I do NOT MIND spending money on food especially when freshly made. My order for noodle bowl was $19.00 sans tip. The bowl came and I was prepared to taste a specialty as Advertised. The noodles were not fresh . It was like eating rubber and the additional ingredients were also noted " fresh" not at all. I will never go back my experience I felt needed to be shared to save you the disappointment of cost but more than that.( Old noodles old service old building) just a real disappointment. Having spent many months in SE Asia, and falling in love with the food, I was really really happy to discover the most authentic Vietnamese food here. SO tasty! I highly recommend it. Truly, from the outside it looks like it might be closed some time ago. Weeds in the parking lot, faded paint ... Not great curb appeal. But go inside, and you find a very typical decor and very clean. The service is excellent. The prices are too- I think almost all dishes are under $20, and many under $10. Check it out! read more

We've tried other pho places in the area but anytime we don't order from here it's a disappointment. I've only had their combo pho and bahn mi but I don't need anything else. Home style comfort food and very friendly customer service made Noodle Palace a great find. We were in the mood for SE Asian flavors, so we ordered papaya salad with 3 peppers (very good & spicy), beef skewers (juicy and flavorful) and meat combination chow mein (loved the al dente chewy noodles). The iced coffee had just the right level of being not too sweet. We chose the table by the open window to catch the nice cool breeze. The gentleman who took our order checked up on us several times making sure we were still doing ok, this showed us he appreciates his customers. I love their sandwich but have to post this review to caution others when ordering their Pad Thai. I ordered light spice. I even wrote 'please' and 'thank you' in my request. Instead, I received an order that was so covered in chili flakes, no amount of scraping could remove them. Even underneath the top layer, there was so much chili flakes in the entire dish, it was as if someone had dumped the bottle of flakes in the Pad Thai. The iced Vietnamese coffee was also served perfectly with just enough sweetness to offset the delicious coffee. I personally had a wonderful experience with the staff as they were very welcoming and kind. The location is a bit out of the way but once you come in you realize it is a family run restaurant with some wonderful paintings and other small touches that add to its quaint vibes. Although this is a South Eastern Eatery the menu here can be misleading. The owners and style of food are Cambodian yet their menu uses Vietnamese description which can be completely different. For example, their menu listed "Bun Bo Hue" which is supposed to be the Vietnamese Spicy Noodle Soup with different cuts of beef, pork blood, tripe, etc. Instead the one here is very on dimensional with just one type of beef and with Cambodian inspired spices vs the authentic Vietnamese style. Granted the soup was very good but I was expecting a "Bun Bo Hue" The fish cake had good flavor but unfortunately was a bit on the over fried as they came out a bit too hard. The Goi Cuon was different as it was lacking some key ingredients. Maybe it's Cambodian style but again, don't call it "Goi Cuon" Overall this is not a bad place, but make sure you're coming here for Cambodian food in a menu with Vietnamese dish name description. read more

If I had written a review in 2011, (why didn't I write a review in 2011?!) it would have been five stars: delicious food, reasonable prices, friendly staff. But now, in 2019 draw a big fat permanent sharpie line through "reasonable prices". They charge extra for every single thing they can. I went here last month and when I asked to see a breakdown of how one order of pho, one order of spring rolls, a Thai Tea, and a banh mi totaled nearly $40, I saw this: -The prices on the menu aren't current. Everything seems to be a dollar (or two!) more -Paying nearly $9 for spring rolls is a mistake I will not make again -Thai Tea is $4 if I recall correctly. Again, way too many dollars! -$.50 charge for dipping sauce. $.50 to $1.00 charge for each to-go container!! This is absurd and not posted anywhere on the menu or otherwise! -$3.00 charge to pay with a card. This used to be one of my very favorite restaurants that I would recommend to anyone and everyone. I no longer recommend this place to anyone unless I want them to feel tricked by the hidden fees. These people should start a credit card company. read more

I've been trying Vietnamese places around Santa Rosa, and all of them are good. This place looks rough, so I hadn't tried it until now. What time I've wasted not coming here! First off it doesn't look like much from the outside, but it has its own dedicated parking lot which is very convenient. We walk in it's just as underwhelming on the inside but we were game to try a new place. So happy we did! We started with the fried egg roll appetizer and the wonton appetizer, both fresh and so delicious, the egg roll was great and what I was hoping for but the wonton looked more like an empanada and tasted almost curry like it was a very nice surprise. My friend got the Pho which he said was so good and flavorful, and he remarked that it was full of the chewy bits of meat like some places give, the broth was amazing I had a little taste. I prefer the BBQ Pork and shrimp rice plate. It looked good, but when I started eating it I just couldn't stop. It was sweet and tangy and just so good I couldn't stop. It also had a pickled cabbage salad on the plate the best way to describe it was a fresher sort of kimchee like flavor but not fermented but sweet and sour. It was perfectly paired with my rice dish. Now the shrimp were perfectly cooked but there were only three shrimp it was a little disappointing because I just wanted more. I also had Thai ice tea which was exactly what it should be. Now the only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is the price. It wasn't cheap, with tip it was nearly $75 for 2 appetizers, soup and a rice plate dish plus 1 Thai ice tea. If you can look past the unappealing exterior and enter this quaint yellow brick walled, casual restaurant, the food is likely to compensate for the hokey interiors. Get lost in a hearty bowl of beef pho, crispy pan fried noodles or a tasty bahn mi sandwich! The BBQ chicken spring rolls were delicious with juicy morsels of chicken complimented with fresh ingredients rolled up in rice paper. I went for the bun bo hue (spicy beef noodle soup) which was decent but yet and still nothing close to what can be found in San Jose's Little Saigon. It had great flavors but lacked a medley of ingredients besides the bean sprouts and basil traditionally served with this dish. The red cabbage was missing and the broth was a bit murky for my liking. The crispy noodles with meat and veggies were yummy! -loved the spicy papaya salad with shrimp also- refreshing and light. Service can be a little inconsistent although they are very friendly here. I'm not sure how the pork and rice, bun bo hue, pho, crispy noodles and papaya salad arrived before the bahn mi, but luckily there was enough food for him to graze on before the sandwich eventually arrived. It's not typical Vietnamese. There is some Cambodian fare also. The food is definitely good with some dishes better than others, but the ambiance definitely leaves more to be desired. If I were in the area, I'd probably stick to take out, but passing through again, I probably won't stop. read more
