We ate here last night the first time based on the 4.0 Yelp rating, and I can't agree with such high rating based on our dining experience. When we walked in, there was only a table of five customers at the end of their meal because the wait staff just delivered them the bill. I asked for a high chair, and she looked at my daughter and said she's too big for that, but I immediately told her my daughter can still fit in (btw, my daughter is very skinny and young and she prefer high chair everywhere we go out to eat every week, and the last one being only 3 days ago). The waitress didn't even bother to go grab the high chair and just walked away to the counter that is located in the back toward the kitchen. With this attitude, I will give one (1) star especially when the restaurant was not even busy at the time. The high chair by the way was very sticky that leaves stickiness on your hand after touching it kind (i.e., not clean). Another observation was that the waitress was more focus on the other dine in customers who were at the end of their meal than coming to our table to start taking order or at the very lease, offer drinks - it was already passed 6:00 pm and the restaurant was still emptied, everyone was hungry so what's up with the nonchalant attitude? Our party consist of three adults and a toddler, so we decided to try out the family meal at $28 per person that comes in a fixed choice of 1 won-ton soup, broccoli beef, sweet and sour pork, and a chicken dish. We also added a side dish of veggie chow-fun (wide rice noodle), so the entire order without the drink, taxes, and tip was over $100. For the food items we ate, I can only give a 2 out of 5 star rating because they all had one thing in comment - neither taste good or bad but with expensive tags. I didn't get sick after dinner so 2 stars rating is all I can give. All I can say is the food is safe to eat but not great. Some of the positive reviews were about good customer service, but we didn't experience that last night. Some reviews indicated how delicious the food were, but I don't agree based on my dinning experience. Therefore, overall, I can't give this restaurant more than 2 stars. Side note: on the way home, I told my wife that Panda Express would have been a better choice if I knew our dinning experience outcome a head of time. read more

Ting Hau is a SR institution by now. The family that own the business and make all the food are tremendous people. Service is always friendly. Ask them about how they came to live and work here, some very interesting stories. The decor hasn't changed in many years but it's clean and quiet and spacious feeling due to the very high ceiling. We have tried nearly all their dishes but our favorites are war won ton soup and king pao with extra veggies. Those veggies are always fresh. You really can't go wrong. It's a healthy, well priced, clean, fresh, Chinese food restaurant owned by lovely folks. What more can you ask for? This is a favorite Chinese food place. Everything is fresh and delicious. Just right with the sauces.

We ordered takeout. The inside of the restaurant is very nice and comfortable we noticed. We ordered the "crispy" walnut prawns, crab Rangoon, and shrimp fried rice. The prawns were battered and deep-fried, but not crispy at all. The crab Rangoon should've been crispy, but it was rubbery, even though we opened the packaging straight from the restaurant to eat on the way home. Not only was the order rubbery, but it was cold. The shrimp fried rice was bland. The sauce for the prawns came on the side so that the prawns didn't get soggy, but they still were. Raw sweet and sour pork, could not cut the meat. The chicken in the almond chicken was hard to cut also. They were closing in 10 minutes and would not fix issue asked if we have ever had sweet and sour pork before. We've been going to Ting Hau for over a decade. This is hands down, the best, the most fresh greatest Chinese food in Sonoma County....and beyond. Way better than most places in SF too in our opinion. We had ORANGE SESAME CRISPY BEEF. This was spectacular! The flavor is great. I'm not a big meat eater but I had 2 helpings! (see pic). Yes I went for *seconds*! The GENERAL CHICKEN was divine. Really great. Again I had *seconds* on this. The COMBO RICE was also great, though we both don't eat shrimp, we left the shrimp, ate the brown rice, which was great, the chicken was great in this. I also ate the chopped green pepper that one in one of the dishes, the flavor was that good! Since this was take-out, it smelled SO GOOD in the car coming home. I've been coming to this sweet Chinese restaurant for years and appreciate the quality and freshness here. This time i got Chinese chicken salad for lunch that came with a side hot and sour soup. The salad was fresh and crisp and they use a combo of greens which is nice, instead of just iceberg or romaine. It's topped with delicious pieces of crunchy fried chicken and a very yummy soy garlicky salad dressing. I was offered a variety of teas of which i did not realize a pot of jasmine tea for myself would be $6.00; i remember the days that tea came free. Not any longer. The food is overpriced. We ordered here because of the other reviews. However we got minimal meat on the house special fried rice, the kung pao chicken and the general chicken had more veggies than actual chicken. The chow mein had a funny smell to it for whatever reason. More importantly this place made me and my partner sick. We ordered it yesterday and I called politely today to ask for a refund since after eating this we felt sick to our stomach. The lady said she would get back to us and that they could offer some percent off. I said I just wanted a refund since I got sick after eating from here. She said she would speak to the manager and call me back, and of course the call back never came. Very nice experience, and a cute little place. We had eaten here several times and liked it, then chose it for our monthly diners group. Made rezzos for 15, md-afternoon to avoid the lunch crowd. They set up two large tables for us, back-to-back so we could still chat. They also graciously allowed separate tabs (we checked in advance). Service and food were both excellent, and everyone agreed they had a great time. Note: it happened to be a release day for Pliny the Younger at Russian River Brewery next door, so there were long lines out front, but they kept clear of the entrance to Ting Hau. Wow! Hidden gem in the neighborhood. This is really great food. Super well priced. Made with a lot of care. All of the dishes I had tonight with my daughter were fresh and delicious. Veggie potstickers : Just the right crunch to the veggies. Including fresh ginger inside. Not too doughy. Great texture. Really big sized a lot to eat. And the sauce is great too. Ting Hau featured a lunch special where selected dishes come with soup and your choice of fried rice or steamed white rice. I tried the fillet of fish with bok choy. This place is dynamite! The sitting area is clean and the decor is inviting. Our server was quiet but efficient. We were in and out in 40 mins! The food was spot on. Just left here with my daughter. I ordered a white wine and it was definitely old. I asked her for another type of wine and the server said "it's going to be the same, they're all old". I'm in the service industry and I've happily opened new bottles (which btw should be dated) when people say they taste old. I didn't expect much from their wine selection, but the way this was handled was rude and unprofessional. 2.5 I'd say. Service was neither here nor there, water refills left a lot to be desired. There's quite a bit of space to sit and it isn't crazy busy or anything. I had gotten the sauteed tofu and vegetables and subbed steamed veggies for the carbs on the lunch. It came with a little thing of soup and fried wontons with red sauce. Honestly, this had some key missteps. The soup tasted slightly like hot and sour but missed some of the savory notes of it and that sour vinegar that comes out a bit. And the peas. Why the peas. The entree was cooked but not long enough and with not enough sauce anyway. The veggies were underdone, flavor had not cooked into the dish at all for most of it, and the sauce was barely there and not very strong as it was. Left everything quite bland. I'd rather have had the chow mein or fried rice at that point since that could've acted as the medium. At least there were a lot of veggies and the substitution was not that hard to make. If I had to take something home and repurpose it though to make it worthwhile, it probably isn't worth coming back for imo. read more

Absolutely the best Chinese food I've tasted in Sonoma county. most recently was lunch, Kung Pao Chicken, very flavorful, not overwhelming hear but enough. the chicken was as tender as it could possibly be, and the fried rice I substituted for white rice was also very tasty. the owner served us, was gracefully charming and made us feel very welcome. I have been going to Ting Hau for so long, it was before Yelp existed! Somehow I have failed to recognize one of my local favorites! I haven't had a dish I didn't like, and there are a couple on the menu that are personal favorites. From soups, stir-fry, noodles - it's all good! A few days ago my husband read an article about this restaurant being here for 40 years and remembered the appetizer. We came in for lunch late today and we were greeted with a warm hello! We ordered 2 lunch specials (Cashews Chicken and Broccoli Beef). Both dishes were delicious in their own flavor. The chow mein was just bad. It had a weird smell and it tasted strongly of rancid oil. I was vey disappointed, do not get the chow mein if you're brave enough to try other food here. read more

The food is very good here but the prices are just ridiculous. A small soup and veggie chow mein for $21.00?! I will admit they were large portions for a small but still.. they close from around 3-5 every day so don't do for a late lunch or early dinner. Takeout from Ting Hau hit the spot yesterday. The vegetable fried rice had plenty of veggies (snow pea pods, mushrooms, bok choy) and the vegetable potstickers were also delicious and well filled with distinct vegetables (and had ginger in them). We had the mango walnut chicken lunch special, too, which was also good. Everything was fresh and ready for pick-up as promised and well packaged. A little more expensive than we'd anticipated, but it made lunch and dinner for 2 of us (and there's still some rice left), so not a bad deal for 4.5 meals total. I've been meaning to try this restaurant since it was mentioned by the Press Democrat as having been around for 25 years while other Chinese restaurants closed during the pandemic. Though I ordered my food to go, I did notice that the restaurant was clean and tastefully furnished. The friendly hostess/waitress recommended Kung Pao Prawns and Fish Fillets in Black Bean Sauce since I love seafood. I also ordered Spring Rolls and the Tofu Sautéed with Veggies. All were delicious but I could not stop eating the Kung Pao Prawns! This place is on par with the best Chinese food restaurants I grew up with in Silicon Valley, and I will definitely be back. read more
