While I'm not sure of the history of this Mandarin at Y&E, it seems to me that it goes back a long way and is well loved by many. With this great location, easy to find and get to, that's not surprising. That's all the more reason to lament it's closing supposedly coming up soon due to a property re-development. Too bad! Like all Mandarin's it's all about you! Go nuts with all the different bars, like the salad bar, the dessert bar, the sushi bar, with the only thing holding you back is your appetite. A canadian classic that somehow always draws that crazy line for Canada day and other holidays... Realized it's been ages since I've been (had to be as a kid) so randomly went on a weekday for lunch. Prices have crept up for sure and I probably wouldn't dare try for a weekend dinner. Surprisingly I actually quite enjoyed my time here. Tons of selection that is sure to fill you up. They have some specialty things like prime rib for example but that wasn't the best. Other simpler items like fried noodles, dumplings, lemon chicken were pretty good! This has got to be the best buffet I've been to so far! They have everything. from 3 different styles muscles, thai mango salad, to a crème brûlée for dessert. They have a sushi bar with sashimi and even some southern food roast beef that they slice in front of you with mashed potatoes. They have flan and curry chicken. and they have my Sons favorite the thick noodles chow main. The service was top notch and the decor of the place was a quirky... We loved it. Believe it or not I have lived in Toronto for over ten years and I have never tried this place. The restaurant was extremely busy and after eating here I know why. The staff was friendly and the food was pretty good. I'm not sure if there is always a two hour window but when I ate there on a Holiday there was. It didn't matter because you could definitely go back for more. They have the buffet separated into multiple areas and most of the food was delicious. They offered all sorts of good quality food. Advice for all: Stay away from the Yorkshire Pudding, it is nowhere close to the real stuff and was a sad looking thing. But lets be honest who really goes to have the Yorkshire pudding. read more

This place used to be good, once upon a time. The food is usually consistent; however definitely loaded with either too much salt, or too much sugar. Why can't salmon, be without that teriyaki sauce? The ambiance is pretty standard, for a buffet style restaurant its nice they had these mobiles representing the Chinese Zodiac Years. Super cute. Service was fairly prompt and effecient. I was disappointed to know there is no elevator to get into this place. If you park on the roof and they validate your parking. Mandarin is still a walk away, while inside the complex. The escalators they have are not accomodative, as some stroller models are too wide and don't fit the thin escalators. So expect to walk up 3 flights of stairs, as I saw someone do last night. While this can be a good way to part with some of the calories recently acquired at the Mandarin. It is not convenient by any means. If you are coming from the street, same deal, a small escalator and stairs NOT ACCESSIBLE for those in a wheelchair or with strollers. Hard to say if I will return. read more

The manager for the location seated us right away and our server Jennifer Ye was very accommodating, attentive and enthusiastic. Food options were plentiful, as well as tasty. Me and my family we served ourselves more than twice. The menu was complete with main dishes and dessert. The only thing that was missing was the entrée and some juice. Underrated place to celebrate birthdays. I've had a fair amount of experience with Chinese buffets, being that I'm from California. Upon entering, the place is furnished pretty well--I really liked the little lanterns attached to the sky ceiling. Sitting down, you're given hot towels before eating and after eating to sanitize your hands--which isn't something I've experienced before in a typical Chinese buffet. Brownie points for that. The waitresses and waiters were very kind and conversed with us, seeming that they genuinely enjoyed their job. Food-wise, there could be a bit more variety in terms of entrées. There seems to be a focus on variety for both entrées and desserts--this is the first buffet I've come across that had THIS much variety dessert-wise. They had BOTH a frozen yogurt machine AND a HUGE variety of ice cream flavors (including limited edition flavors). Entrées were pretty decent--I really liked the melt-in-your-mouth sautéed mushrooms and smoked salmon roll. However, the vegetable stir-fry was overcooked and the broccoli was soggy in result of it. Now onto the birthday celebration. We came to celebrate our grandfather's birthday and they came out with a whole strawberry jelly cheesecake with a candle. Normally, restaurants would serve a small slice of birthday cake, or even a cupcake. But we got a WHOLE cheesecake. In addition to that, the waitress took a picture of us and then printed out a photo magnet!!! That was definitely the cherry on top! You will like this dish if you like sweet meats like me. My past experiences with Mandarin buffets at other locations has been that it was not worth the price for the variety of fare and amount I'm able to eat in one sitting. We were recently at Mandarin at Eglinton and Yonge to celebrate our Mom's birthday. She always loved that location and enjoyed every bite of food there. Everything was festive for the Chinese New Year and we tried four plates of food before ending with the ice cream and some Nanaimo bars. I wish they had the chocolate covered strawberries they have in the summer but considering it was winter... The hot and sour soup was wonderful, not too spicy and I am a spice wimp. We even tried the Thousand Year Old Egg Salad which was quite exotic and fascinating. Not my favourite thing on the menu but I have never had anything quite like it. For the New Year they also has dumplings which were very good. I have had sushi there before that was quite good but this time it was just OK. Focus on the Chinese food and you will be fine. We were visiting Toronto with our four children and we were looking for a place to feed their teenage appetites. Wow! This place did not disappoint! Due to construction currently happening in this part of Toronto, it was a little difficult to navigate to. Thankfully, there are ample parking garages nearby. But I assure you the wait through traffic annoyances is well worth it! We were richly rewarded with an amazing assortment of food buffets. I can't remember the last time I saw so much food! The food was warm, and the selection was tremendous. The staff were absolutely the friendliest people I've met in a long time. They were always accommodating and strived to meet our every need. Funny, most places/restaurants you go and order a sizeable plate of food, pay and leave... I saw people with MOUNDS of food, multiple plates.. guy beside me was on plate number three, I got there after him and left before him. Canada doesn't have many buffets (or at least Toronto area), probably maybe not a bad thing either... I'm not gonna lie to you, my stomach and body were not happy with me afterwards, the whole entire day, I just turn into a gross and disgusting human being. Hard food to digest, it's a combination of mostly mediocre Chinese food, eaten by NON Asian clientele (lot of better and authentic options available), I also see the appeal; Absolutely GORGING, eating without concern.. how many plates can I scarf down?? How long until I completely regret having eaten 2 plates of meat and sodium, no salad. I'm just a sweaty, gross, stinky carnivore at 12:14 pm on a Friday afternoon, what's next!? Having said all that... With the easing of dining restrictions, friends and I took the opportunity to do something pre-pandemic "normal" to feel like ourselves again. We went to Mandarin (Yonge and Eglinton) this weekend to try the "Small Eats" menu. Admittedly, we were a little skeptical. We have very healthy appetites and we like to get value for our money. I have always favoured the Yonge and Eglinton location. The management and staff are stellar. They genuinely care about the quality of their food and your dining experience. Service is warm and efficient. Hot, softly scented, wrapped towels are offered before and at the end of your meal. Napkins are quietly replenished as soon as they are needed and drink refills arrive before your glass is empty. Managers are always on the floor, working hard to make sure things go smoothly. It appears that 60 percent of the dining tables have been removed, such that the space between the tables is more than what is mandated. The sterilized silverware is presented to customers in sealed plastic pouches. Hand sanitizer is available when entering the premises and with the presentation of the bill. Paper bags are given to you once you are seated, so that you can safely stow your mask while dining. Cleaning and sanitizing is constant. The Small Eats menu comes in two parts. One part has a picture of each dish. The other part is a list of dishes with prices, that is marked to show which and how many of each item you would like to order. The food arrived very quickly, fresh, hot and delicious. In no time, our table was made to look like a private buffet. We did not hold back. We ordered a lot of food. To our surprise, the bill amounted to less than we would usually have paid for our meal. We left well sated. We even had leftovers to take home. Came by last night for my crab leg fix. This buffet chain continues to serve comfort Chinese Canadian cuisine with friendly service. Decor unchanged with traditional over the top flowers and artifacts and small koi pond but somehow it works. The sushi not great rice too hard but they now have some salmon and tuna sashimi selections. Other dishes remain the same as expected. Standard fruit and dessert station, frozen yogurt and hard scoop ice cream. Could use a few menu updates but overall good place if you want this type of fare. They validate parking. It was a little small with choices to my family, but the food in Mandarin fresh and nice, plus there was ice cream, cotton candy, frozen yogurt, and a dessert stand. Out of all, my favorite food was the frozen yogurt. It tasted just like soft serve ice cream, but healthier. The ice cream stand in Mandarin is hard ice cream, or ball ice cream. read more

You don't go into a Chinese buffet with high expectations, but I was mis-informed that this location was the best one out of all the ones in the GTA. The service is exceptionally better, but certainly not the food. Some items that stood out at this buffet: 1. Snow Crab Legs - very meaty, though dry and tasteless 2. Roast Beef - Over-cooked and dry. (see picture) 3. Sashimi Station - The ladies behind the counter are tremendously grumpy and will reluctantly give you more than two pieces of sashimi. Don't waste your time with the sushi options either. 4. The only thing I liked about this buffet is the dessert section! Eight flavours of ice cream to pick from, a waffle station, creme brulee, rice/bread pudding, assortment of tarts, and even sugar-free cheese cake for the diabetics. Just ordered for delivery and was overall happy but the vegetable fried rice, which was my favourite, had way too many bean sprouts that it took over the dish. First time that has ever happened.
