The sushi is fresh and well made, and the hot food items have a good variety and are consistently good. We arrived at around 1:00 PM on a Tuesday and the restaurant was about half full, so we were seated right away and were given a booth for the three of us. We ordered a variety of different items from the iPad ordering system which included a variety of sushi as well as hot items like siu mai and har gow. They even have a robot that brings your dishes to the table. I would actually consider returning. read more

This is a solid AYCE sushi spot in the west. We ordered all the favourites and their torched sushi is really good. There is a wide variety of items with something for someone on the menu. All the sashimi we ordered was very fresh and delicious. I love shrimp and there are so many seafood options. Just take a look at my photos! Service was phenomenal and they are super quick. They have a great selection of sashimi, sushi, and hot dishes like seafood boil and dim sum. Service is impressively fast, and they even use robots to deliver dishes to your table as soon as they're ready. For just an extra $3, you can upgrade from AYCE sushi to AYCE sushi + BBQ, which gives you even more variety without a huge price jump. The iced bear coffee was strong and flavorful, and the frozen coffee bear was a nice touch since it kept the drink cold without watering it down. Everything we ordered was beautifully presented. The blowtorched sushi is always a favorite for the smoky char flavor, and the sashimi cuts were thick and fresh. We especially loved that they offer sweet shrimp, though we do wish scallops were on the menu too. The beef and salmon carpaccio were both light and refreshing. There's also a huge selection of Chinese dishes. Our favorites were the grilled shrimp skewers and the salt and pepper squid tentacles. The har gow was solid too, definitely a step above frozen dim sum, though not the standout item of the meal. Overall, we really enjoyed the dining experience here. They improved a lot in the last year - lots of new menu item , great aburi sushi, loved the flavour overall. They also got this new Thai lime iced tea that's omg, must try. Perfect for summer and taste delicious, not too sweet. The ambiance is nice with a dimmed purple lighting, seating is comfortable as well. I haven't been to 168 Sushi in years, so it's nice to see that it is still around! The food was good and tasted fresh. My only reason for not giving 5/5 stars is the food was not consistent when we reordered certain items (ex: short ribs were meaty, charred nicely from the grill, and the second order were fatty and almost undercooked with no grill marks). I liked the robots "serving food", even though they came to every table around us but we didn't get to experience it personally. read more

Restaurant close to home and finally got to dine in. The sushi menu and choices were excellent and plenty. Order from iPad then the server completes the order. Then the robot serves your order. It's on a first come first serve basis and if you're going there on weekends, you might have to put your name on the waitlist and wait about 30-45 minutes to get a table. We have been to this location multiple times and I have to admit that they have their improved their service. Lunch menu is rather limited and doesn't include many special rolls or sashimi. In the United States, restaurants are always very kind to children and show great respect to parents, but at this restaurant the rude behavior of the manager toward our family was truly heartbreaking. Quick service, food could be better. This restaurant used iPads to order the majority of items, and a robot plus service staff to bring out food. There was a buffet station in the corner that offered a very small selection of soup, salad and ice cream/dessert. Compared with competing AYCE sushi places in the GTA, this restaurant probably ranges from average to below average menu items. While the price of weekend lunch buffet was slightly below other comparable restaurants, the quality of food can't compare. Some of the better dishes included BBQ Beef and Chicken on a Stick, kalbi (beef short ribs), grilled eggplant, and salt and pepper shrimp. I wasn't too fond of the other dishes, as they didn't quite meet expectations for taste and quality. The Pad Thai, Dim Sum and Thai Curry Chicken were very disappointing. This place is good, you get to sushi. Unfortunately there is one Huge problem. I ordered 6 beef skewers. i waited at least 30 minutes to an hour and they never came! I think someone stole it. Food & Service was okay. The thing that put me off from coming again was when a lady that didn't take our plates at all came to bring us the debit machine to pay. She stated "it does not include tip" after I asked for the remainder of the money back. She wasn't even our server. Why should I give her a tip? For bringing the machine to us even though I told the server we were paying cash? The male server was the one that picked up our plates and filled our water. The tip should go to him. I wanted to give him the cash, not a random lady coming by to take money. I told her to nevermind about the remainder of the money, just so I don't have to fight with her about it. When you think of asian scams at restaurants, this is what 168 is. Now... I've heard of 168 and been to one outside of Mississauga and I've got to say, they have decent reviews from people I know but it doesn't impress me at all. Let me tell you why... Not much parking, this 168 has a fake grassy exterior kind of like at a driving range while practicing putting but much, much worse. When you walk in, the walkway is kind of squishy but they did have a tablet/iPad for lining up. Fortunately, we didn't have to line up - now onto the bad part. We came around 3:10pm and a guy in a grey dress shirt and crappy looking tie brought us to our table and immediately said dinner and $33.99. We were just curious when the lunch ended and dinner started - he said 3:15 last call. The issue with this is, we found out later on the iPad, on THEIR ad that it was 3:30pm. Not only did we arrive there before his 3:15pm lie, it was actually 3:30... I overheard a waiter saying to another one that another table is dinner price when paying the bill. It's obvious that these people are only in it for the money. Quite rude - this sushi place has terrible salmon sashimi, they should be ashamed at themselves for even charging for this salmon sashimi. The plate was huge, the sashimi was not even a little fresh, and it was tiny as hell. They don't give you wasabi either with your sashimi, they expect you to get it yourself... I mean, this is the only place that I've come across that doesn't give you wasabi. Literally. Even the sushi place in the mall gives me wasabi. Minus 20 points here. Their menu was so limited, they don't even have butterfish sashimi here. Their edamame was terrible, their rolls were okay at best - but nothing special at all. The only thing I actually liked was the deep fried shrimp but it was deep fried, it's supposed to taste good - so they don't get any points for this. The fact it's a sushi place that has bad sushi is literally beyond me. How people rave about this place, I do not know. But I do know one thing - the service was terrible, the food wasn't great and they charged $33.99. Honestly I would not recommend this place ever. My reviews are always based on where your money is best spent... and it's not here. Expected much more. Also, usually AYCE sushi places charge based on WHEN you sit down. -20/5 Terrible and sketchy af. EDIT: it says on their receipt to give them feedback or criticism, complaints and whatnot. I did write an email and honestly I haven't heard back yet. Honestly, even if they were to offer us a free dinner, I'm not sure we'd go back. It wasn't anything special, and very possibly below average. One other thing I didn't like about it is it's not unique at all, besides the outside of the restaurant which is a grass like exterior. This could've been a Golf Town prior to them opening. It's the type of asian restaurant where everything is replaceable. What I mean by that is, it could easily be a pop-up. Salmon sashimi was not very fresh, small cut pieces. No butterfish sashimi for $33.99 choices were very limited and service was very bad. They were very rude and their food wasn't that great. Especially for the price, we should've went to our normal spot. The only thing my boyfriend liked was the deep fried shrimp but that's not anything special. I've been going through some serious sushi withdrawals with the closure of my favorite place in Toronto for sushi. a friend invited me to this place for her birthday and i have to say i was really impressed with coming here. the service was great, completely accurate, and absolutely zero complaints from the staff members. ordering with an iPad was a really nice and enjoyable experience, i actually wasn't looking forward to that aspect but it was great. the quality of the food here was really good, i came in expecting nothing and left very stuffed and happy. lots of parking available here, but if you go on a packed night, you might be waiting for a spot, i came here on a saturday night and obtained the absolutely last spot in the whole parking lot would very much recommend this to everyone who can come here to eat. read more

Hello fellow foodies today I officially bring you my first open patio review since they are finally opening up restaurant patios and we are slowly getting past this Covid pandemic here in the GTA. 168 Sushi just happens to be the only AYCE sushi restaurant that is currently open in peel with a decent sized patio. I was there around 1pm on a Sunday and there was about a 30 minute waite time to be seated in there tent covered patio. And very busy with a small line up of people waiting to be seated the whole time we had our meal. The set up was pretty cool with tablet ordering for the ayce sushi and other options but a small menu and very limited for the lunch menu they have many more menu options for dinner. Food 4/5 for $23.00 plus tax with no drink options included in your price it was more on the pricey side considering the menu was also very limited. The sushi rolls were pretty fabulous specially the green dragon rolls and they had some very nice garlic coated very large prawns a very nice addition on there menu . But I am giving them a lower rating based on the fact that outside of the rolls and prawns and and some of the other offerings we tried almost everything on the menu . But unfortunately the bbq meats , chicken and short ribs and teriyaki was way over cooked and totally uneatable and left on the plate..it had the consistency of beef jerky. Big disappointment . Service 4/5 was not the best either very poor communication as there was clearly a language barrier with staff not fluent in english ..long waite times for food.. But it was a nice sushi patio if your looking for one...unfortunately my phone died right after good arrived so I wasn't able to take any pics of food but the presentation was nice. read more

Much has changed since I've last eaten here; one month shy of a year! Went today for lunch and the quality has deteriorated significantly. Lunch menu = not as vast & less affordable while popular items got moved to the dinner menu that's also increased in price. Was so used to seeing the restaurant packed full, with lineups out the door at any time of day. Today it was empty. 5 or 6 tables being serviced at most. Maybe it's because I came by shortly after lunch hour, but from experience, there was a noticeable decline in patronage. Food was also mediocre at best. Some of the salmon ordered weren't fresh. Cuts of fish were super thin (slivers) atop plenty of rice. Rolls were cut huge, filled with more rice than tasty ingredients. Items that should be served hot were actually served cold; soup, tea, some cooked dishes. The distribution of seasoning was also uneven; extremely salty, too spicy or bland. It wasn't good. Short beef ribs = all fat, no meat & over the top salty. Curry = all heat, no flavour. The dish was so spicy, I only managed to eat a quarter of it as my mouth was on fire! The restaurant is going downhill. After 8+ years, I won't be returning. read more

Have been there numerous times for lunch and as a vegetarian / vegan family only lunch makes sense. The dinner extras and price are all for seafood or meat options and thus for us, lunch works. And this is the only buffet we go to in the last 5+ years. The lunch options for vegans and vegetarians are good. The service is good, but I took some points away for either the wait staff don't speak clear English (their vocabulary, I find is limited) and also not being knowledgeable about some of the dishes. Does it contain any fish sauce or meat items?, does the soup contain fish or meat broth? - questions asked such as these and they are lost and answer them inconsistently from one to another. In the last year or so, they have moved the soups, salads and some desserts to a self serve table. Don't like that. In my opinion it should be all or nothing. As it is we visit this place at most once a year. But if you crave sushi, it is a decent place to go. read more

*** American Review *** HOLY MOLY!!! I never imagined such a place existed. It's your typical Japanese restaurant (at least in the states) with a regular menu...but wait....the entire thing is a MADE-TO-ORDER BUFFET!!! Someone PLEASE bring this idea to the states. There is only one other place I know of in the USA that has AYCE made-to-order sushi...and that's in NYC. Apparently there are a few places that do this there, but I've never seen this in any other city stateside. Anyway my good friend tells us to meet her there, and we order plate after plate of sushi and other items. This place just blows my mind. Technically speaking this is not a "buffet" as a real buffet denotes that food is pre-made and arranged on trays or tables, but a buffet usually connotes the idea of all-you-can-eat....but who cares...it's essentially all you can freaking eat from whatever is on the menu. I LOVE IT!!!! Before the buffet-phobes and food-snobs say anything the food quality is on par with a normal restaurant. None of those usual tricks like paper-thin slices of fish, or giant sized balls of rice, etc, etc. I only wish there was one closer. I would HIGHLY recommend this to anyone, even to my skeptical cousins who believe the food here is questionable. Only suggestion I have is to make it baby-friendly...diaper changing stations in the bathroom or something =D. Anyone know what the 168 refers to though? Almost a 5 star. We like to explore different AYCE sushi restaurants west of Toronto. For example August 8 in Brampton has the best aesthetics. Sake Sushi in Vaughn had great mango salad. K&B Sushi has great parking and professional service and nice interior. 168 Sushi on 2366 Dundas Street West in Mississauga rates a 5 star for the melt in mouth salmon belly and butter garlic large button mushrooms, with only a hint of garlic. Would return for those two items alone. Sashimi quality and presentation was nothing to write home about - better elsewhere... just okay, or maybe everything else paled compared to the salmon belly taste and presentation, and the butter/garlic large button mushrooms cooked just right. Parking is plentiful. Service during a non busy time was swift and professional. Oh, and just ignore the cheery voiced smart carts that deliver everyone's dishes. It comes right up to you and you take your item. There is a walk up salad/soup/dessert alcove, and the wonton soup was the best I've had. Also I really liked the seaweed crumbles -just watch them expand in the miso soup, or as topping for the salad. Vegetarian husband would return for the soup and salad bar, edamame beans, and avocado hand rolls. Otherwise, not a huge veggie sushi selection. I liked the butter brickle ice cream. The tempura shrimp was just right. The baked scallop was a little heavy on the mayo, but unique. They offered many different ways to eat chicken wings. The sake was hot and delicious. Went to 168 Sushi a week after they opened for dine-in. The experience was awful. We ordered food and not all of them came. So we asked the waitress if we have any more sushi coming because we didn't want to order twice. She respond with "I don't know. I can't find out." In a rude way. Keep in mind, I'm the kind of person who talks to people with the utmost respect regardless who they are. I always say please when I request something and thank you when they take the empty dishes or bring food. Regardless of all the good gestures, they treated us rudely. Not even a smile. Only time she smiled was when I gave a tip. The food was alright but not good as it was before covid. I'm extremely disappointed because this used to be my favourite Sushi AYCE. Almost everyone knows about 168 Sushi, and despite being down the street from me, this was my first visit! My sushi cravings come up once in a while and that day i was REALLY craving. So i waited for my girl friend to get off work at 9pm to go. Knowing that it was gna be tight on time and that we'd prob only be able to order one round, we still decided to satisfy my cravings lol We stepped into the restaurant at 9:25pm. So we had a little over an hour. The guy wasnt too happy to take us in. So we quickly went thru the menu and ordered. Our server came to put in our order and was rudely saying how we ordered 40 items and that if we dont finish we will be charged extra which they always warn people. So ok fine. We were a party of four and we were all starving, pretty sure we were able to finish. And whenever i go to all you can eat, i make sure i dont order excessive food cuz i hate wasting food. The food came out pretty quick cuz the kitchen had to close, which was awesome, but it also meant our table ran out of space. And knowing that, they just didnt care and stacked plates on top of plates and even on top of the food. How am I suppose to eat food squash under plates? Didnt even offer to extend our table or switch some items to a smaller plate. They just didnt care. And half way thru, they wanted us to pay the bill too so the cash can close, which was also fine with me knowing they need to close soon, but she was like "you guys pay now first, ill charge you more later for leftover food". Excuse me?! Ok wtever, not even gna respond to that. Just paid. After a while, she came to check back, and yelled to her manager at the back in another language not knowing i can understand her "they're definitely not gna finish". Excuse me?! RUDE. Came here with my family for a buffet dinner the other night. first off, ambiance in the restaurant is very nice! Looks very trendy and modern with the decor styles used. A number of seating options including booths which is nice. As per typical AYCE sushi restaurants, you are given a tablet to search and pick through the menu options. They offer a variety of foods - sushi/sashimi, meats, rice/noodles etc. What was a bit different from the norm is that they have a salad and soup station at the back of the restaurant for you to choose from (rather than offering it on the tablet). I also like that their sushi rolls are only 4 pieces at a time - gives you more opportunity to try more flavours/styles without being wasteful.
