Bought my wife a diamond tennis bracelet which ended up being a little too big on her so instead of sizing it and putting the extra diamonds in the drawer or safe, I decided to have Linda make her a pair of earrings out of them and they turned out beautiful. The service I received today was less than personal, and borderline rude. After my mother passed away I was left with some gold that had belonged to my grandmother, and some my moms. The gold was not something I personally like and thought that I should look at selling it. In the little box that I brought also included gold teeth caps from my great grandmother and my grandmother. The gold teeth were definitely something I did not want or need. Considering this is their line of work I expected a little more professional courtesy, however when I said what was in the little pouch, she threw it down and was like "Well I'm not touching that" with a disgusted face. She actually told me that when her dad passed that she buried him with them because it was gross. Totally get it, but she acted like I chose to keep these. Anyway, it was just not a place that I would ever go back to. It's sad because I was actually looking at buying a wedding ring for my husband. read more

Not safe: Mandel's Jewelers in Brea on Imperial near TJ Max. I went today to quickly pick up watches I'd left a week or so ago for battery replacements, which I have been doing occasionally at this store since before the pandemic began. Entry requires pressing a button and waiting for the locked door to release. As I opened the door I could see that the owner and her assistant behind the jewelry case were both unmasked, although helping a masked elderly couple. When invited inside I said that I would not enter until everyone inside was properly masked. The owner tried to tell me that they had no masks. I knew this to be untrue, because the assistant had put on a mask when I dropped the watches off, at which time she had been alone in the store. I told the owner I knew she was lying and that someone would need to bring me my watches while I waited outside at the door. The assistant donned a mask, and we did complete our transaction outside. If the owner is lying about masks, WHAT ELSE does she lie about in conducting her business? Since I can no longer trust this store's honesty, I let the assistant know I'm never returning to this business, and that I'd be spreading the word about this incident and the owner's obvious lack both integrity and care for public safety. Too bad, as I'd been considering having them make me a new diamond wedding ring. read more

I've been to Mandel's Jewelers three times and their customer service is awesome. I had a ring resized, an item repaired and most recently I had my mom's jewelry from her estate appraised. They cleaned the each item first before appraising each one. Their appraisals were spot on and allowed me, as the trustee of the small estate, too fairly distribute the jewelry between the siblings. So I came here expecting to spend quite a bit of money to have my wedding set re-rhodiumed. I was talking to the salesperson and I mentioned how my rings need it quite often. I also asked how long it should last. He mentioned that if you have a lot of acid in your skin it might be more often. Then he asked if my my rings were dipped or if they are white gold? I said white gold. He then says "have you ever had them buffed out?" I said " I didn't even know that was an option!" He buffs them and they look brand spankin' new!!!! Took a semi mount ring bought on ebay in to have my center stone set and ring resized. Linda even gave me some advice which was helpful when I decided to buy ring on ebay. The price to mount my center stone and resize was very reasonable. Less than repair shop at the Mall. It took 2 tries to resize and I only had to pay for 1. Took out good clean hands and put beat up crappy hands on and charged for it as if I got new ones. They did refund the money for the hands but not the service.
