Working with Rob Mandell was an absolutely atrocious experience. He is rude, unprofessional, does not deliver on what is promised and does an inferior job on what is and; furthermore, he is very demanding, condescending and chauvinistic. He was supposed to remodel my bathroom in a 2 weeks. Almost 6 months later, it is still not done and I am left with a mess to clean up. The toilet he installed leaked staining my ceiling. I currently have only half a shower door so, if I use it, it floods the floor. According to Rob, my shower door came in wrong twice. I waited two months for the correct frameless shower door yet he proceeded to install one which was the incorrect size (71 1/4 and not 72) ruining the tilework. After installing the incorrect size door, he demanded almost ten thousand more than what was in the initial contract to get the other side of the door cut which he said did not fit with what was installed. When I refused to pay any additional money, he walked off the job and proceeded to text me for weeks calling me names and threatening to call collections. I am left to get the half door removed and cover the holes at this point at my own expense. The original contract, including the correct entire shower door is paid for. Additionally, in the process, he scraped my bathroom floor leaving it bare so, to be fixed, I would need to have the floor completely redone. The entire job is shoddy. I have holes where he grouted and it is disintegrating and even the caulk already has holes and is turning yellow. The project was a complete disaster and waste of money. It caused me a lot of unneeded stress. I would strongly advise to not work with him. read more

we called Mandell because the aerator in our Moens kitchen faucet was busted and needed to be replaced. We had used them before and had been satisfied. But this time a ripoff. They came yesterday, but didn't have the right size replacement on the truck but could get one. This morning picked up the inexpensive part., came back to install about 10 minutes. The bill was $453 on our Mastercard 5/21/ 2025. For man hours? Labor? 2 brief trips to our house and a brief trip to their supplier to pick up the part. We are senior citizens and cannot afford to be ripped off. They are friendly and do quality work, but the cost was a ripoff. I think they said it was because it was their minimum charge for 3 short trips Didn't matter the actual time it took to do the work. Such good reviews didn't ask the total cost for this easy job. A year ago my mother-in-law had Ryan at Mandell come fix her water heater. He gave her 2 options: 1. Change the whole water heater - $2,800 (plus tax) 2. Replace the water heater gas valve - $950 (plus tax) Since the water heater was only 6 years old she decided to go with the lower cost option and replace the valve. Yesterday the water heater broke again along with our sump pump. A plumber came to replace the sump pump and my mother-in-law asked him to take a look at the water tank before Mandell's servicemen were scheduled to come later. My mother-in-law mentioned she paid over $1,000 to replace the gas valve and the plumber was shocked at the charge. He says a typical gas valve costs ~$200 (I double-checked this on Google) so Mandell basically charged her almost $800 on labor alone. My mother-in-law called Mandell and the office head, Rob, responded very rudely to her. I overhead Rob on the speaker phone saying she should take responsibility for her own decision to go with the cheaper option, that it was a fairly priced job, and that she didn't know what she was talking about when she claimed the valve shouldn't be that expensive. When my mother-in-law pressed him to explain the costs last year, he said "I don't want to deal with people like you anymore" and rudely hung up on her. I don't understand how a $200 gas valve change costs over $1,000. In comparison, the third-party plumber she is now working with is only charging her ~$1,600 to change the entire water tank ($450 labor + $1,100 new tank cost). I don't blame Mandell Plumbing for the water tank breaking because that's the risk my mother-in-law took by not changing it a year ago, but she was grossly overcharged for the job. Even if she made the decision to pay Mandell for the full tank change last year, she would have ended up paying at least $2,800 vs. the $1,600 quote we got today from the new plumber. My mother-in-law's trust was broken by Mandell, which took advantage of her lack of expertise. I am writing this review to prevent others from being treated like this and to make Mandell change their bad customer service practices. read more

Ryan was efficient, reasonably priced and went above and beyond for all the services they have done at my Home over the last two years. Once he came to check my dishwasher and after 40 Minutes here determined I needed a new dishwasher and it wasn't a plumbing problem and didn't even charge me for visit. This company is a complete rip-off. We called them on August 13th Friday morning, to fix our AC was since we closed the house on Aug12th and post arrival the person who came to fix, asked for a credit card/signature and said visit costs $175 +taxes ($187 ). He had closely observed the switches while we were discussing the issue. Then he just moved down to HVAC unit and came back up (I followed him) and just turned the emergency HVAC switch on which started the AC unit. Truthfully, I'm very surprised at some of these low ratings. Then again, some of those reviews are related to A/C which doesn't apply for us. Mandell Plumbing has been our go-to guys for all our plumbing needs. (Sadly, this old house has had a LOT of plumbing issues over the years.) They are by no-means, the cheapest...but they're not the most expensive either. We've decided that their pricing is fair and well worth it. Most importantly, they are honest. The team is always professional, pleasant and they do their jobs well -- cleanly and thoroughly. Never have we had any problems with any of their work. They know what they're doing. While needing repairs is never fun, when we see Tim, Ian, Rob and the others, we know we're in good hands. Call them for all your plumbing needs -- your home will be better for it! read more

I would tackle any plumbing job myself before I would ever hire these high priced crooks..I spoke to several REAL plumbers after the fact of course and they agreed.with me that I was ripped off by this company . Charged me 250 bucks to rinse off a screen on my hot water heater that worked for a few weeks after that ..I hired a real plumber that replaced my water heater and out of good faith and pity I'm sure took off 150 off my bill...buyer beware stay away from this company..they will rip you off.actually I would not give any stars.. read more

A trusted friend recommended Rob, thought he was an honest man, though didn't know his work. I hire him to fix a flood issue in basement and a bathroom the size of a small closet. He know I had insurance money, jacked his price because he knew I was a new homeowner single mom fending for her home solo. Not only did it take over a month for the bathroom, he left undone, crooked tiles and walls that show paper, pipe in sink leaked a week later, sink not drilled to wall. Ceiling never done, no light fixture and blamed Covid for delays. Lied about changing out the pipes in the lawn, only did one side than a friend showed up and said wtf - he called Rob's son who said oh yeah we couldn't put it in, but father told me oh that's normal. Finally got rectified through last week, 4 months later. His attitude was repulsive and disrespectful. He also charge me double for floating floors I had him install in the basement - the guy he hired came to my house a few days later to ask me if I paid Rob because he didn't get paid - he basically said Rob made 100% profit on the floors. God will handle him but don't trust him - he will "rob" you! read more

My heating unit was shut-down and was not starting. I called Michael Mandell for the help, he quoted me $139 to attend the call and use the money against any repair. He came and put a switch one and my heating system started. He gave me bill of $ 175, for switching on the unit. Not reliable and honest. I will not recommend to any one read more

This is literally the worst contractor I have ever worked with. It has now taken over 4 days to instal our A/C. They leave early and they are less than helpful. Don't bother calling if you have a complaint, they use a calling service which good luck calling you back. This is literally the worst service ever. 1 star is too much. Hired these guys to fix plumbing issue in mother-in-law's 50+ year old home. They ripped up carpet in living room, jack hammered the slab, supposedly cleared the line and put a cleanout in the center of the living room. Problem not fixed after all this. Called another plumber - they could not explain why there was a cleanout in the living room when the problem, a broken pipe was in the yard. Did a video and everything to show us. Stay far away from these folks, bad news. A cleanout in the living room!! read more

Having had very good experiences with this company before, I called them when my water heater went. Had to call 3 x on a Sunday before I got a call back. Promised to come 1st thing in the AM, so I stayed home from work. When they were 45 minutes late, I called & was assured they'd be right there. Took another 1/2 hour- & the office is only 20 minutes away!!! 2 flunkies looked at my heater, said it had to be replaced, would cost $1500 & left without giving my an estimate or anything. A little research turned up that the heater was under warranty. Another company came in & fixed the problem for under $200 labor costs. I'll be calling them next time, not Mandell..... read more

I recieved an over the phone quote for one price. When the service guy "assessed" the work, he determined it was going to be 10% more. I personnally think this is a common game this group plays knowing the hassel of getting another person on site is not worth the 10% they randommly tack onto the bill. Terrible experience would neither use or recommend this company again - ever!. They sent two plumbers for the work - good news. Bad news only one was experienced the other one was in training. The office had double booked the appointment with a neighbor two doors down. The experienced plumber left my house, went to my neighbors, leaving the trainee with instructions how to replace the sink faucet. He couldn't fit under the sink to replace the faucet, didn't know how to replace the bathtub unit either. The only thing he could do was replace the shower head. So for 1 hour and 20 minutes he sat around waiting for his co-worker to come and do the work. Their website also advises a $25 credit applied to the job - that didn't happen either. Their pricing was extremely high - cost more to replace the kitchen faucet then the faucet cost. Then after all this want to charge me for a full service call fee, which I refused to do. Consequently they reduced the appointment fee but not until I refused to pay and requested they do something for the poor experience etc. No consideration for my experience, having me sit around and wait for the other plumber to come back to my house and finish the job etc. When the job was finally done it was done right but that's all I can say. Service charges too high, inexperienced staff, double booking an appoinment - very unprofessional. Why would you send a plumber who cannot fit under the sink to change out a faucet? I felt very badly for the guy, he clearly wanted to help but couldn't and didn't know what to do without the tenured plumber with him to provide direction and assist. The experienced plumber was good, apologetic, worked quickly when he finally came back to my house - but that's not the issue here. It's the overall experience, lack of consideration, inexperienced staff, double booking an appointment, and high fee's for services provided. read more
