    Don't get Tenders expecting tenders
    Zipporah A.

Have what you state on the menu ! I wanted chicken tenders instead I got two chicken Pattie's and then when I pointed it out she explained that's what they call tenders (smh) and asked for bread she proceeded to explain they charge for bread. I think they just have what they think is it and we're expected to just settle well I don't want it and I didn't pay!! My dogs will eat good and the fish we got and the fries were okay.

Mandy's special - 3 piece cod with English batter 3 Fish, 3 Shrimp and Chips
    Lisa G.

Took my friend here multiple times in the past couple of weeks because he really likes the cod which he says is really good....he even preferred over knock knees lobster. I had the fried mozzarella sticks. Staff is not very friendly so don't expect much for their service. .

They actually close at 8:30 for new orders - not 9! Disappointing to make a drive here and find they're not really open.

First, if you're looking for lobster, there isn't any here. It's a fish 'n chips place (with other…read moregood stuff), but no lobster despite the name. Second, it's excellent. Arizona has a problem with fish 'n chips. Namely that all they have here are the square, frozen fish patties. All the places Arizonans rave about (like Pete's and Mandy's, etc.) are just frozen fish patties. That's not fish 'n chips. That's a TV dinner. Thankfully, Knock Kneed Lobster is a throwback to an actual fish 'n chips joint. No frozen patties anywhere in sight. The place was built in the 40s and it's in a crappy neighborhood near Sky Harbor airport and diagonal from a strip joint. But don't let that stop you. There is so much to try here and none of it disappoints. The fish is Alaskan cod and it's as good as anything in the west coast. California has some stellar fish n chips, and the fish here is just as good. The cod is flaky and mild and fresh. The batter is cornmeal based, but it's light and not doughy or raw inside. They fry it to a perfect golden brown. The menu has dozens of variations of it (1 piece, 2 piece, 3 piece with 2 shrimp, etc.). The basic fish n chips comes with some old fashioned French fries (the perfect skinny ones like they should be). And one of the best parts is the "salsa bar" where you get your own tartar sauce, ketchup, cocktail sauce, ranch, fresh cut lemons, as much as you want. Mix and match; whatever. In another area you can dispense malt vinegar and Louisiana hot sauce to your heart's content. And in another area is an enormous fountain drink machine with everything you can imagine. But beyond the fish 'n chips is a lot more. The fried shrimp is awesome. They have clams and oysters and catfish too. And don't miss the fried zucchini. It's one of the best I've ever had, and their ranch is excellent. The fried mushrooms are to die for, so it's tough to pick! This place is the real deal. It's definitely a throwback to another era, and I imagine these places won't survive for much longer. Family-owned restaurants are being attacked through regulation, economic pressure, city ordinances, and enormous pressure from corporate-owned eateries. Come here while you still can and taste what really good fish 'n chips should be- even in the middle of the desert.

Fountain drinks, beer and wine to drink. Plus - Sauce Bar! Help yourself to cocktail sauce, ketchup, good tartar sauce, and ranch against one wall. Find large stainless steel containers of malt vinegar and Louisiana hot sauce across from the register and order counter. This spot is clean! For a restaurant specializing in mostly fried foods, I couldn't smell grease at all. Once we got our food, the grease was clean and the batter was light and crispy. All of our food was cooked perfectly. DELICIOUS. My coworker and I were talking about how much we love fried zucchini one day and she recommended this spot. So thankful that she did. The fried zucchini was next level and the ranch was really good too. BONUS- they have hush puppies on the menu! I've only seen these in the South. Of course, we had to try some along with the fried okra. Amazing and delicious! Fried perfectly & good flavor. Hubs said fish n chips on his top 3 list.
