Love this place!!! Their clam chowder is so good. Cant wait to try their fish tacos and grilled lobster tails :) they have a sauce bar will all homemade sauces. Ranch tater ketchup and cocktail sauce. You are served by the owner which is amazing and the vibes are giving cape cod!! So fun!

Don't judge a book by its cover. But you don't have to dress up either 32nd st and Washington is not convenient for me to go but my family and friends have gone there for decades for Fish & Chips. If you don't want French fries try upgrading to fried zucchini or mushrooms. Long loved local place to go for comfort food

Place smells weird, food is ok. Service is friendly. Seafood Platter Shrimp, ok cook on it, but they want like 3 bucks a shrimp, they are honest about what size shrimp they use (i forget but it was on the wall). But it's not that big and they cut it and fry it like a straight line, it wasn't that good. Clams, chewier than I would have liked but ok. Onion Rings were the best thing on the plate.... Hush Puppy - has bits of corn in it and a bit of a mexican salsa type thing going on but is not that flavorful Fish - tender fish, tasty

Located in a bit of a questionable part of town, but don't let that stop you -- the food more than makes up for it. Their fish and chips are consistently excellent: crispy batter, flaky fish, and properly cooked chips. The fried zucchini is next level -- light, crunchy, and addictive -- and the sauce is what really seals the deal every time. My only gripe is that the fish portions have shrunk over the years, which keeps this from being a full five-star spot. Still, I've been coming here since I was a kid with my family, and it remains a reliably great place for a comforting seafood meal. Highly recommended.

First timer -- This is the definition of "hole in the wall" diner, but good!! There is a smell when you walk in which made me little worried but it was good! Fish and chips -- batter could have better adhered to the fish, but the fish was flaky and delicious!! Chips (fries) were frozen and disappointing. Fish tacos -- I prefer flour tortillas, the corn tortillas were not heated and shredded apart so it was hard to eat. I probably wouldn't order these again. Zucchini -- holy large!! They were delicious but the grease holds inside and burns ya and with time made them very mushy which then was not good. Overall this place is a staple to the area. If close by, I would get the fish again.

Awesome seafood find in the desert! Cute decorations, friendly staff, quick service. Good selections. We are picky as we are from the north east coast and used to easy access to seafood. This is a good find. The clam chowder is amazing - must get. In a little bit of a questionable area but give it a chance and you won't regret it

My family and I have been coming here since I was a kid. The food is always fresh and hot. There's many options for different platters. I don't believe that the fish is well seasoned so I always add hot sauce. The hush puppies are my favorite. They're nice and crispy but nice and fluffy on the inside. Service is always great. It's a check in and call your number system. There's plenty of indoor seating. There's no real decor! It's pretty much dining and open seating! Definitely worth a try if you visit Arizona l.

Best fish and chips in the Valley, by far! Big pieces of cod perfectly deep fried, not too greasy, just right. Tartar sauce is amazing.

Does this place sell lobster? It's in the name but I don't see any lobster on the menu?

Funny about the name, but no... fish, shrimp and fantastic hush puppies!

I was looking on Yelp while she was in an office taking care of business and saw this place. When she and my granddaughter came out I asked them how they felt about it. Granddaughter was hesitant because she claims she doesn't like fish but daughter was open to it and I could see online that they had hamburgers and chicken nuggets also. I got the two piece fish with fries and she got the three piece fish with fries because she thought the two piece wouldn't fill her up. The pieces were generous and delicious and the fries were good. She wasn't even able to eat her third piece so she let me bring it home for leftovers. We also got six wings to try out, three lemon pepper and three honey barbecue. We each had one of each flavor just for an appetizer. They were good, a little chewy but wonderful flavor. My daughter and I were both impressed with how good the fish was and neither one of us could finish what we were served. The teenage granddaughter ordered the hamburger special for $6.99 that included hamburger fries and a kool-aid. She wasn't crazy about the Kool-Aid so we brought it home for other family members but she kept exclaiming how delicious her hamburger was! She liked the wings also and we all liked the fries. All in all we were happy with our food and the service was fine, very friendly. The final decision was that it was a good choice! It's inside an old convenience store and does have a lot of items a convenience store would have but we just went for the food. Don't let the outside deter you, the food is worth it and a very very good price. For me the only disadvantage was when I asked for a receipt it just said $40.32 but didn't itemize so there was no way to double check it and I have found so many places make errors that I like to look over my receipt and see exactly what I was charged. I do know that we paid $6.99 for the hamburger special at least that's what it was listed for and my two-piece was $8.99. I think my daughter is three piece was $11.99 but I can't remember for absolute sure and I don't remember how much the wings were but they were reasonable.

This place delivers big flavor in an unexpected package…read more On a recent trip to Phoenix from my home base in Chicago, I got a serious craving for fish and chips--something crispy, hot, and satisfying. After a quick internet search, I ended up at a place called Speedie's Fish & Chips on McDowell. Let me be real with you... when I pulled up, my first thought was: Am I in the right place? From the outside, it's giving more "corner vape shop meets convenience store" than seafood spot. But hey--hunger (and curiosity) won the day. I walked in and discovered exactly that: a vape store, a small market, and tucked off to the right, a humble little lunch counter. No frills -- just a guy behind the counter doing his thing. I ordered the Fish & Shrimp Daily Special ($11.99) and waited a few minutes. When the food hit the counter, WOW. Any skepticism I had about the surroundings vanished in a cloud of fryer steam and crispy golden goodness. The fish? Hot, flaky, and perfectly battered. The shrimp? Juicy with just the right crunch. The fries? Fresh, piping hot, and generously portioned. All of it was straight out of the fryer--no limp or lukewarm bites here. To top it off, they gave me four sauces--ketchup, cocktail, tartar, and ranch--which turned this into a choose-your-own-dipping-adventure. Each bite was better than the last. And guess what? The next day, I went back and ordered the exact same thing. No regrets. Bottom line: Speedie's is not about ambiance. It's not Instagram-worthy, and it might not even look like a restaurant. But if you're in Phoenix and craving solid fish and chips at a great price, don't let the exterior fool you. This place delivers big flavor in an unexpected package.

This was my second visit to California Fish Grill, and it definitely confirmed why I came back!…read moreThis time I wife came along. Fast service with quality food cooked fresh. Everything tasted incredibly fresh from start to finish. The battered fish tacos were crispy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked with great texture in every bite. The lobster garlic roll tray was packed with flavor and made for an amazing shareable item. I also tried the everything protein bowl, which was loaded with fresh ingredients and generous portions that made it both filling and delicious. To top it off, the pineapple cream soda was refreshing and paired perfectly with the meal. Great quality food, fresh ingredients, and plenty of variety on the menu make this a spot I'll keep coming back to. Highly recommend!

I just got back from a trip where I stopped at a cafe with very good reviews outside of Lake Mead. Long story short, I ended up paying $30 for four eggs, a tiny, pitiful portion of potatoes and a half decent decaf coffee that arrived at the exact same time as my food... Super big pet peeve. I was pissed - because I know great value because of places like California Fish Grill! I can get 100 different variations of super fresh and sustainable quality food for an insane value. Like how do they honestly afford to give us this much great quality food? I went in today for something that's not exactly on the menu and the guys made sure to put the order in at the maximum value price using different sides etc. I was able to get a massive plate of really good food & tip 30%+ for 20 bucks. Happyyyyyy! Thank you for putting your guests first instead of GOUGING us to death like some places.
