I was supposed to be in the Bahamas this week, but unfortunately, due to my health, I had to cancel. This was my first visit. It seems like a family business. There was a small wait as only two people were working. They didn't seem stressed or overwhelmed and both were very patient. They didn't have my flavor ice cream but I was able to make it work by adding toppings. It wasn't bad. There are also benches outside as well to sit. Ice cream is fine, if you like the chocolate shoppe brand they sell. However, this place is in desperate need of a deep cleaning. The ice cream cases are filthy. I didn't end up getting ice cream at all, you can go and get the chocolate shoppe at other businesses. They do have a variety of options from shakes, floats, malts, and even boba. Ordering is straight ahead when you walk in so I'd recommend ordering there first and then walk around to pick your flavor and meet back at the register. read more

While my husband and I were out shopping we got a craving for something sweet and decided to find a little spot that was family run. I feel like the larger corporations are taking over and the smaller family businesses need as much help as they can get. We found this little spot in Brownsburg called Mandy's ice cream which we had never tried and it was really really good. I'm not one to try the normal flavors you can buy from kroger because what's the point of that? So I went with the kitty kitty bang bang. It had vanilla, raspberry, chocolate chips, chocolate cookies, and raspberry sauce is believe. It was very good and the raspberry flavor gave it a good punch with each bite. I've not been to Mandy's before and I'm so happy finally made the visit! We went on a Friday afternoon and that place was filled to the brim with happy customers eating their ice cream! Even though there was a line, the two employees handled it was grace and exceptional customer service! Bravo! Now to the yummy ice cream ! There were so many different ice cream flavors, which was wonderful! We ordered lemon meringue, mint chocolate chip, and kitty kitty (which was a cheesecake-ish flavor). I loved, loved, loved this place. It is a neat little hand scooped ice cream shop located just outside of downtown Brownsburg. It is the epitome of a small business and I was glad that I was able to come there, check them out and review them. The owner, Amanda (Mandy) Johnson, was actually working the shop during my visit. She was very welcoming, friendly, up-beat, helpful and personable. She greeted me as soon as I walked in, with a handful of sample sticks. She calls her shop the Burger King of ice cream shops, where you can have it your way. She is definitely all Brownsburg, through and through and is proud of and supports her town. They also operate an ice cream truck, which you will probably see in the parking lot. There is tons of parking available in the lot that it shares with the other businesses in the strip mall that it is located. The shop is very tiddy and if you are wondering what the pictures on the back wall are about, they are part of a school project from two local elementary classes that is funded by The Brownsburg Education Foundation, They serve some signature sundaes, make your own sundaes, ice cream scoops (cone or cup), banana splits and boba teas. They have all your standard toppings to go on your ice cream like sprinkles, caramel, fudge, strawberry, peanuts, marshmallow fluff, pineapple, whipped cream, M&Ms and gummy bears to name a few. Mandy asked me what my taste were and then personally suggested ice cream samples based off my taste. I sampled (they were decent sized samples) a few of their ice creams and I was hooked. This $&%! Just Got Serious was my favorite, but I really liked all of them. The shop is pet friendly and has a decent sized dining area if you want to eat your savory treat right on the spot. After a long deliberation, I decided to go with a Banana Royal (a banana split in a cup). Of course I got it with a scoop of This $&%! Just Got Serious and I got a scoop of Coconut Almond Bliss for my second scoop. It took about 5 minutes for her to prepare and I was getting it to go. Mandy packaged it up very nice to travel. It did make it all the way home. It was very delicious. The ice cream and ingredients were fresh and had a good flavor. I almost ate the spoon. This shop is amazing, the owner is amazing, and the ice cream is amazing. I give this spot one of my highest recommendations. I enjoyed my delicious treat from this family run shop, with deep Brownsburg roots. Trust me, you will not be disappointed. read more

Nothing says summer like a scoop or three of ice cream. I enjoy trying smaller local shops and was happy when i discovered this shop. It seems to be pretty popular as they were consistently busy but there was minimal wait. The employees were all pretty friendly and very helpful with providing recommendations. I had salted carmel and another salty popular scoop that were both tasty and i will be back to try some of the other flavors. Mandy's is a fantastic find in Brownsburg. The ice cream is fantastic and the sundaes are amazing. If you are in a mood to indulge your sweet tooth, you can't go wrong with Mandy's. I will want you, the pricing is higher than you'll see at Culver's or DQ, but the real ice cream you can get at Mandy's is well over and above the sad soft serve/custard you can get at the fast food joints. The only complaint I have is the lack of the current rotation of flavors available online (Facebook or where ever) and that's really only an issue for me during COVID since I'm getting ice cream for the family and end up with a long back and forth when I get there letting everyone know what flavors are available. read more

My two kiddos & I have made the drive from Carmel to Brownsburg JUST for the ice cream here at Mandy's haha. I'm sure there are other places closed to home but the service & yummy options are worth the trip. My daughter usually wants to try something new, which the younger staff are always very accommodating about (samples are allowed!) and once she's decided, my son always gets his usual chocolate scoops. I can only have non-dairy options, which I will say are sometimes lacking in variety, but as any parent can attest: when the kids are smiling, the day is good. For ice cream fans who like to try something new, I recommend stopping by Mandy's in the Main Street Shoppes in Brownsburg. Mandy's is a locally owned ice cream shop that has a new name and location just a few shops down from its previous incarnation as Wylie's. After parking in the shared lot, we entered the brightly lit shop. Small tables for guests run along the left side of the shop. The L-shaped order counter has a nice variety of ice cream on display through glass cases. Samples are available to try before purchase which comes in handy since the names don't always give an immediate idea of the taste. Fortunately, the shop has fuller descriptions underneath each title. (Yeah!) We found out the young man working was the son of the owner, who used to work at Wyliepalooza when it was in Brownsburg, then bought the franchise and renamed it Wylie's. When the opportunity opened up for the shop closer to US 136/Main St, she decided to change the name to her own when she moved. My wife and grandson both got small servings of "This $&@! Just Got Serious" ice cream which is a salted caramel with fudge and cashews. Both really liked their selection. There are five sizes of cups available to choose from and I went with the middle size (called Single) for my Raspberry Rhapsody which comes with Moose Tracks chocolate chunks inside. Wow! Excellent flavor. They do have cones available, but I didn't check them out for options. My wife kept commenting at how unique the flavor combinations were compared to other ice cream shops she has been to. She normally just goes to the local DQ near our house, but I agreed the number of unique flavor combos was comparable to most of the larger ice cream shops in Central Indiana. Yum! the stories on the flavor selection quality and friendly service are true! The best part is the easy direct access from the Avon Brownsburg B&O bike trails. Just open the Yelp directions feature on the trail to see the street closest to cut through from the trail and you can hike or ride directly to ice cream (we used the cut through at Airport road).
