Catherine Tain has been doing my hair for 25 years. She's amazing, her hair color choices for me now, have had to incorporate dolling up my blonde hair and oh my god yes just a wee bit of gray. Catherine cuts that flatter my cheekbones and my fullface. Catherine or one of the other stylists, has made themselves available on a moments notice when I've had a hair emergency. They are all very experienced and know that we all have to have our hair be a certain way. I love ManeTain salon and I enjoy the great hospitality here. Most of my friends go to Catherine or someone in her salon. This salon is easy to find right off Jimmy Durante , just south of the track by just a few feet. ManeTain has a terrific parking lot behind the building and the wide open windows give lots of natural light. And for those of you know , without natural light your hair color doesn't come out properly. The salon is actually open seven days a week for private clients and probably six days a week for everyone else. You could become a private client by just making a request. The salon manager is efficient and friendly on the phone and will have your hairdresser call you if needed. They have great products and have the Redken line and some other assorted boutique items. They offer you coffee tea and some time some other beverages. There are snacks healthy and others. The blow dry that Catherine does are amazing and she's also really fast. Once you have experienced Catherine's timeline you'll be hooked for life because you won't be spending your whole day with her and the few hours that you spend you'll be able to get a color, a highlight and a cut and a blow dry and be out of here quite quickly. Heather is great,. I love that this little Gem of a place is tucked away on Jimmy Durante in Del Mar with their own parking in the back. Super quaint and clean. They have tons of magazines, someone does make-up and they have lots of treats to eat! OMG. Coffee, creamers, cakes, pastries, candy, cookies and mints. I don't know how these girls stay healthy but so nice to offer your clients all of this. They are expensive for weaves but if you have it and like your gal, then it's no big deal. read more

I thought long and hard about writing this review but every time I drive by this salon bad memories come up. Catherine is a great professional but the way she treated me on my birthday still bothers me. I used a product that she couldn't get out of my hair ( fine I get it) and she proceeded to wash it 3 times ( scrabbing my head really hard and showing her dissatisfaction). At that point I should have walked out but I didn't so it's on me. Regardless I never went back but her attitude towards me was horrible. The hair "washing" experience was to say the list pretty mean. I will never ever recommend this salon to anyone. Unless you want to be treated badly. I also didn't like the cut, blowdry or style and told her about it, but just wanted to be done and get out. $300 later was super not worth it. I had a coupon here for deep conditioning and blow out and I was SOO happy with the results. I had such an easy time setting up an appointment and Emily was my stylist. The deep condition smelled and felt so good. Emily was so personable and really made me feel comfortable. There are snacks and drinks available too which is very nice. Emily not only remembered what I said to her on the phone when I made the appointment but also listened to what I wanted when I actually there. She gave me the BEST blowout! I came to manetain for my senior prom updo after having my hair and makeup done by Katherine once before, and hearing great things about Devon. I scheduled a 4:30 with Devon and was shocked to find that she never showed up. I had never had a no show stylist before, and sank into thoughts of prom disaster. Then Mallory, the new store manager, stepped in and immediately calmed my nerves. She made sure that I liked the style so far before she continued. Her hospitality was incomparable to any stylist I've met, but what's more is that my hair and makeup looked amazing, better than I could've imagined. I have been coming to Chelsea Root for haircuts and styling for about a year and have been very happy with the results. I also had been coloring my own hair. Chelsea put in a few highlights peiodically and used a wonderful product to make my hair shiny and bright. Eventually, though, the coloring process I was using turned my hair turning various shades of reddish orange, not to mention the sections I was missing because I couldn't see the back of my head. (it's impossible to color your own blonde/brown hair and have it look natural) I desperately needed a color correction. So I put my color correction in the hands of Chelsea. I am thrilled with the results. The whole process took two different appointments a month apart to get the reddish tint out and the beautiful blonde highlights in. Chelsea was careful to decide on the proper colors and process to achieve these results. Then she finished off with a fabulous new cut. She listened to my input as far as a haircut, but I let her go for it since she is the professional. It has been a week and I am still getting compliments! I am so happy with the results! The way she did the color will allow for minimalmaintenanceso I can keep it up without having to spend a fortune. I definitely learned my lesson about trying to color my own hair.
