No bread or rolls offered, cheese for pasta dishes was served in little packets like you would get for sugar instead of a shaker; no pepper flakes shaker; no coffee refiles offered; the chairs are extremely hard and uncomfortable; no booths. The "ambiance" felt more like a sports bar trying hard to be something else but not an Italian restaurant. The "soup" that I ordered, "Spicy Southwestern Beef Tomato" was nothing more than ground beef, a few chunks of tomatoes and a very watery broth seasoned with chili powder. Got the Chicken French and the Italian Wedding Soup to go. The chicken was breaded perfectly and seasoned with light Parmesan cheese on top which was a nice addition to this Rochester classic dish. It tasted very good, though had a unique flavor with a stronger wine base than I'm used to. The portion size was also a bit small (the food in the photo had not yet been eaten out of). I ordered 2 of their "favorites" off the menu, french onion soup and macaroni and cheese. Was very disappointed in both. The soup was completely flavorless, might as well have been sink water. The mac and cheese tasted like straight butter no cheese. The chicken on the mac and cheese had no flavor either, and I'm wondering if they even have seasoning in their kitchen. The best part of my dinner was my pop, crisp and tasty. Pretty sad I lost 40 dollars on that dinner, and left hungry. Service was fine until a friend found a maggot-looking creature in her side dish, and the waitress tried claiming it was a seed. Ambiance was fine, though the interior looks like it can't decide between sports bar and upscale dining. Definitely will not be coming back. read more

I really want to like this place, but the food has been bad on 2 separate occasions. French onion soup tasted like someone had thrown a few onions in a bowl of water. Even the cheese had an off taste, like it had been stored in the fridge unwrapped and had taken on the flavor of whatever else was in there (IYKYK). The pizza crust looked like a Boboli crust - pretty sure they are either buying them pre-made or making them ahead of time. It was gross. My quiche was almost inedible as well - weird texture and the flavor was off. The salad looked like they threw some bagged lettuce on my place and placed 3 onion rings on top. Food was pretty good tasting, but portion size was meant for a small kitten. For $25, I got a small piece of chicken and just a few penne, making up my Chicken Marsala. Ordered dinner last night for take out...fish fry dinner and Southern Fried Chicken sandwich with cup of soup (Italian Wedding). I showed up a few minutes earlier from the pickup time given, the restaurant was completely full with patrons waiting for tables. I took that for a good sign, as this restaurant has changed hands from the previous owner. The food was hot upon delivery...once home I open the fish dinner and took a small bite of the fish. The crust was very tasty and the fish was hot and flaky, the fries were crispy and the cold slaw was some of the best I've had from a restaurant; cold slaw is always hit or miss but this was fresh cabbage diced up with a light dressing, and you could actually taste the cabbage. It was a very satisfying meal to say the least. My wife enjoyed her chicken sandwich and said her soup (Italian Wedding) was very good and hot. read more

Still satisfied! Second visit here we tried the pizza and wings. Those r some very attractive wings! Oh my! All were pretty large, very juicy inside and generously seasoned. The picture speaks for itself, they're beautiful (as well as tasty). Their presentation is fun, it's on a wax paper newsprint on a wooden base. They have several 'fancy' pizzas to choose from with fresh ingrediants like basil and fresh sliced tomato. They also have your normal cheese with pepperoni. Their garlic sauce was extra yummy. But their red sauce is also really good. Basically in an ideal world u come with lots of people and share all the yummy foods. This is my first time trying Mangia Mangia since they moved into the new building. The fish fry sign has been taunting me. I ordered online at about 630 and when I paid it told me that the food wouldn't be ready until after eight. That was annoying; I wish that it had told me the anticipated wait time before I paid. They were busy when I got there and a couple of orders had gotten mixed up so folks seemed a little stressed back there. The guy in front of me was irritated that he had been waiting so long. However, my food came out at almost the exact time the app told me it would be ready. The coleslaw is super sweet which I really liked. Turns out it has pineapple in it. Who knew that was a thing?! Not me. The fish fry was humongous And needed a lot of salt. Granted, I'm used to a lot of salt but the fish didn't have a lot of flavor. I enjoyed the buffalo wings which could have used a little more sauce (and i think they were a little pricey but I gotta check that). I'll definitely get those again either way cuz I'm a wing fiend and they are close and maybe try a burger next time. read more

Had a great meal and awesome service this evening! We were seated immediately, delish bread and hot marinara sauce and perfect cocktails. The server was accommodating and efficient. Ordered food for pick up at 630... It is now a little past 8... I haven't even tried their food yet and I am already pissed about this place. Update: 1. Wrong order given. First order was promised for 7:14. Mine was promised for 6:34. 2. Tour of Italy was a $22 meal for as my wife described as a single meatball that tasted like breakfast sausage. 1 tiny piece of eggplant, stuffed shell and a ravioli. Yes, it was all single tiny pieces. 3. My chicken fettuccine alfredo. Was a dried out spaghetti they must have had laying around. Chicken was burnt on one side. Sauce was old and tasted like Ragu roasted garlic. 4. Garlic bread was definitely a 2 day old dried out loaf. 5. My chicken ceaser salad was a handful of lettuce on top of spaghetti. Lacked dressing. Luckily I had a bottle of store bought olive garden dressing. Just a FYI with the mix up I didn't get home with mothers day dinner till 8:20 nearly 2 hours after my promise time. We came here for dinner. The ambiance is very nice! Nice pictures of Spencerport around the dining room. Our waitress was absolutely wonderful. The food you could tell doesn't have chefs cooking it, instead inexperienced cooks preparing the foods. The Alfredo was bland and under seasoned. The wine pours we're on the small side. It was really gross and after spending $14 I ended up throwing it out. I also got a wilted salad served with tarter sauce instead of my ranch! First of all, people posting updated reviews with fewer stars on any restaurants right now is just stupid and unfair. There is a staffing shortage everywhere so adjusting expectations is a necessity if you're going out to eat or shopping retail in person. Now, with that being said, we decided to try Mangia Mangia last night and it was great! We ate outside on the patio. Our server was as attentive as could be and our food was phenomenal. I ordered the Chicken French and my husband ordered the Rigatoni. We are both from very Italian families. The French sauce tasted just like mine (which is delicious, a recipe handed down from my mom's family). The red sauce on the rigatoni was the closest I've found to a really good Utica-style flavor. We both enjoyed it! Rochester usually tends to have either too much sweetness or too much acidity in its Italian food. This place got it right with the sauce and the meatball. We ended our night taking home a big piece of chocolate cake to share. It was amazing! Was our visit totally perfect, pre-covid staffing shortage, nope. BUT!! They were all working VERY hard. They did the very best they could and we could tell and appreciated it. So get vaccinated to protect our vulnerable populations (like our kids who deserve to go out in public too), adjust your in-person dining expectations for a while longer, and head out to eat at Mangia Mangia. There was great variety of food choices in the buffet and above your average food selection. The chicken French was the bomb. It was perfectly prepared with a hint of citrus. My mouth is still drooling as I think of it now. There really was nothing that I did not enjoy. The greens and beans were superbly prepared. I pre ordered today at 1PM for delivery at 5:45 PM. At 4:45 I got a confirmation that our order was being prepared. At 5:30 I received a message that there was a delay and it would be 45 min late. At 6:00 I was contacted and told it would be another hour. At 7:20 it was finally delivered. The food was Luke warm and pretty bland. I called the restaurant at 6:15 and asked to talk to the manager. Was told he was too busy and would call back shortly. I finally heard back from them at 9PM. They basically blamed GrubHub which is not true. The GrubHub driver had called me to tell me they went to pick up the order and was told it was not ready and would be at least an hour before it would be ready. The customer service there is terrible. I can no longer recommend this place to anyone. Very disappointed. read more

I ordered scallops and shrimp fra diavlo . They apparently have never made it before because it was not a fra diavlo sauce. I've never tasted anything like it before. It was bland no spice or heat at all. If the cook never made it before they should have just said it's something we don't make. It just was disappointing. The cookies are to die for just to let you know! The place is clean and the staff was very friendly and chatty! Walking in your nose gets hit with the most wonderful smells! There are tables when you first walk in and booths along the wall to the right. The booths sit kind of close together but it's still very spacious. We were sat at a cute little booth in the middle. Menus were already at the table. They are HUGE! When I say huge I mean they are huge cardstock laminated menus about 5 ft tall!! That was a bit over dramatized but they are definitely long. Just front to back no flipping through a ton of pages. You have plenty of options to choose from. Any where from pasta,chicken,sandwiches,fried foods,seafood, burgers, you name it they have it. All sauce for the pasta is in house made that you also receive na dish of with your bread before the main course. I decided to go with the stuffed shells. They were so cheesy and mouth watering. Order onion soup and chicken french over escarole instead of pasta. Crock of soup is good not outstanding reason- onions not carmelized and very under cook broth was weak in flavor. Main course- chicken not pounded out adequately , french sauce TERRIBLE due to ridiculous amount of corn startch added zero and i mean zero sauce flavor .
