So we had to go out to Hamlin Friday and we decided to stop for dinner at Tavern 19. I've never been there before. My significant other has been but years ago when Julio the chef owned it and it was called Evergreen. But anyway we walked in and went straight to the dining room where we were promptly seated by one of the hostesses with our place settings and menus. So the waiter came to the table several minutes later. They were starting to get busy and I think they were a bit short staffed. So anyway he came to the table with our water and drinking glasses. Took our drink order and came back with fresh warm bread it was delicious. And then when he came back with my glass of moscato we ordered I got the Parmesan portobello and angel hair with red sauce and oh my goodness was it good. The portions are quite large so of course I took my leftovers home. He got the broiled fish with shrimp & scallops and Cole slaw. We both got salad and it was good but neither of us finished it because our entrees came out pretty quick and hot. They are one of the few restaurants that have poppyseed salad dressing his favorite. And he asked to speak to the owner and he reminisced about the former owners of the establishment. So all in all good night and a good dinner. And the place was nice and kind of cozy too. read more

Ordered a number of things. A brownie sundae was a scorched black brownie with a scoop of cheap freezer burnt ice cream. Mushroom pizza was soggy but had ok flavor. Meat lovers pizza had only a salty flavor from the prosciutto...which had a gamey aftertaste...the sausage literally tasted of cardboard or paste...french fries were crispy but literally had no flavor...no potato flavor...no salt flavor ...just flavorless...tried a pasta with a red sauce...which was literally canned chopped tomatoes dumped on top of overcooked pasta...the tomatoes had a strong metallic taste...which means they are using cheap or old bargain canned tomatoes...never again ...none of it was technically rotten or uncooked thus 2 stars read more

This place is absolutely disgusting. The waitress was clearly drunk and the bartender was running around all night even though the bar wasn't even busy. We decided to eat at the bar and our bartender was very rude and only gave attention to the locals. Also, our chicken wings were raw and they had to remake them which took what felt like forever. After placing multiple orders to go, it became apparent that the person making the pizzas was not familiar with the menu, which lists the toppings. It's been a few years since I've been there, thought that I would give them a try hoping that things had improved. Tonight I ordered the "Goodfella". which consists of roasted red peppers, sausage, and sliced garlic. All three ingredients were missing. Instead I received Chard pepperoni, which I don't care for. Seven of us came in for my birthday dinner. Appetizers were over cooked (they did remove them from our check). Our meals were brought out before we could even try the appetizers. A hamburger was ordered without tomato (delivered with tomato). The pasta for both orders of Chicken French was cold, as was the pasta with the scallop dish. They reheated my Chicken French dinner in the microwave to the point that it was too hot to even eat. No one else dared mention their cold pasta. The salt potatoes that came with the Chicken Marsala were raw in the center. We had to ask for bread, which was also cold and under cooked in the center. We were never asked if we needed/wanted another drink or if we were interested in dessert and coffee. When the "to go" containers were brought to the table they were set down on the top of an appetizer plate that had pasta sauce on it. this place is a joke.... the bartender Beau is an arrogant piece of work and not worth looking at... I ordered a meal to go, mushroom Swiss burger with bacon.... the cooks are on point with that but the bartender has no idea what a dirty martini is and my side salad consisted of a handful full of mixed greens and a few cherry tomatoes.... that's it... I took my ill clad salad back to Tavern 19 and requested the situation to be taken care of and instead of having the situation taken care of the bartender threw three dollars at me three singles. and told me that I do not need to come back to his establishment over a salad yeah you're right I will not be going back. So the front door was locked when we arrived. They answered when my wife knocked and the hostess was friendly. It took 30 minutes to get a beer, and my wife had to go get it off the bar. My beer was flat and sour, so I sent it back and drank water. My wife asked for a side salad, which was listed on the menu as being $3 with a meal, but we were charged $7. The pizza was ok, but the crust was not crisp and the olives were black instead of green as advertised. In all, not a great meal, but the staff was friendly. read more

This review is based off of the rehearsal dinner we had here... not regular dinner service. My best friend had her rehearsal dinner at Tavern 19. We had a few different dinner options to choose from but since my husband and I try to eat low carb, all the pizza and pasta options were kind of "off limits". My husband requested just the meatball and sausage (which was offered with the pasta). Wow. The meatball size was HUGE! I am talking softball-sized! I was nervous that maybe the inside wouldn't be cooked through or that it would be dry bc it needed to cook long due to the size but it was perfectly cooked: juicy and tender! The sauce was very good as well! Everyone at our table seemed to enjoy the brick oven pizza. The service was great! All the servers and the bartender were very nice and attentive. My main negative was the size of the wine... I really wish I had something to measure the size of the pour because it seemed so small! (Unless I am just used to my massive home pours that I am not used to a "normal 5oz pour"????) Literally finished it in like 3 sips. $6 glass. Ended up buying the bottle for $20. read more

I'm giving 3 stars because of the food. Both my husband and I love their wood fired pizzas. So the problem is not the food. The problem is the service. The last 2 times we were there we waited up to half an hour before any of the wait staff came to our table, and they did not come until we asked the hostess when someone would be waiting on us. We had to ask twice to receive our bread basket. Our order was a large salad which we asked to come as an appetizer and for dinner a pizza. Our pizza came before the salad. when we asked where our salad was our server said she would bring it out. Our salad came out with no utensils to serve the salad and no salad plates. We left feeling like we were a nuisance and that our server had better things to do with her time than to serve her tables. read more

Went for Mother's Day brunch with family. We were seated in the back. The food was okay. I asked for an omelet and he put raw mushrooms in. It wasn't cooked right. I had my card out and the waitress grabbed it and swiped it. I'd rather not have a stranger touching my things without asking. She was rude. The 20% tip was included. $45 for a plate of food. Wow, this place totally ruined our night. We have a 13 month old who is awesome and great in public but as any parent knows, you have a time limit. Upon arrival there was no one else in line at the host stand. Restaurant was a little busy but it was 5pm so not bad yet. They made us wait for 5 minutes before seating us. Then, once the host finally gave us a table, she never left us silverware and no one ever came back to us. Suddenly bread appeared on the table but none of us knew when it was dropped off. We ate the bread and waited. At least 15 minutes went buy, maybe more, and NO ONE CAME TO OUR TABLE. No one took a drink order, no one took a food order, no one showed, only the magic bread. WE WALKED OUT! Now it is 6pm and my son needs down for bed in 30 minutes and my mom, whom we are visiting in Hamlin, has to go to a night job at 6:45. Screw this place. So this was always our go to pizza place. Love the wood fired pizzas and we always got the meat lovers which of course is not exactly cheap. They always had good quality ingredients and the crust was fantastic. So we ordered one to go about 1 week ago. Took me this long to decide to complain. Froze the leftovers and when we reheated they were , lets just say not great. Crust was way too thick even after we always tell then thin. Pepperoni was not the nice authentic pepperoni that used to be on the pie. The sausage was also not very good quality. Where was the ham that is normally on it and there was something else missing. Cheese was not the best quality either. So sorry to do this, but when you pay top dollar for a wood fired pizza that has always been fantastic and then it is literally not great for the amount we spent. Oh well looking for a new wood fired pizza place. So sorry Tavern 19. read more

My wife and I were out of town making a delivery in Hamlin for our business and we were looking for a place to eat. We looked online and found the Tavern 19. It looked really nice and they had a lot of interesting items on their menu! So we thought we would give it a try. When we got there the atmosphere was great as it looks on the web site! Very welcoming as was the staff! We ordered jalapeño poppers these are not the cheap ones I have eatin in other places. 6-7 large poppers cheesy and larger peppers served with blue cheese. Very good appetizer. Clam chowder is very good! We ordered the one 1lb cheeseburger with fries and split it! Thank God we did! I think it was larger than 1lb. This was well cooked and it was still juicy! This was definitely handmade and fresh!! I usually don't make statements like this but it was one of the best burgers we have had at any restaurant! After we got done eating we stuck around the bar and watched Justify win the triple crown and even though we did not order a drink we sat and spoke with the bartender for about 30 minutes (sorry we didn't even catch his name. He had a dark beard though). Really nice guy! Great atmosphere Great food Great people Just what this world needs!!! We will be back for sure. Monday evening , 7 pm, decide to try a new place, we live in Hilton, friends of ours say "they have great wood fire pizza"! We entered into the bar area, where we asked the server to be seated outside. we seated ourselves. (server appeared to be also bartending)? As we sat at the table outside, a family of 7 (2 adults five young children)arrived and sat outside on the porch. After 15 mins the server was waiting on the family that arrived after us. then she came to us, asked if we wanted anything to drink. I ordered wine and husband ordered a coke. at this time we also ordered our dinners. 15-20 mins went by so I decided to get up and go to the bar to retrieve my drinks, as I went in the server had come out with one salad and 2 waters. So I looked at my husband and said wheres my salad? as I headed back in The server came out with my salad. At this time I figured out that the server was also the bartender! I walked back in the bar area and our server was behind the bar. She turned and said "Oh did I forget something,?" I said oh that's ok I just came in to get my wine and coke. Oh, Im sorry here you go. She grabbed a wine glass that was on the top of the bar counter that was used from previous patron and took it , swished it in a wash sink and then dunked it into the sink next to it to rinse it, never dried it off , just filled the glass with the wine .!! I was a bit perplexed and left out to the table where we were sitting. The side salads we ordered were fresh greens and homemade it dressing. It is now 8 pm, our salads are eaten are drinks are empty, no server since we received our salads. It is getting dark and my husband is now getting cold. so we head into the restaurant to find out about our food and sit at a table. she directs us at a table for 2 in the back. We walk in and ther is only one table with 4 ladies just getting up and ready to leave, There is the family of 7 on the porch, a table in the front with 3 people and bar patrons approx., 6. they have been there since we arrived at 7. Also what appear to be take out orders of a couple people. No one else has come into restaurant. Again no explanation from server, no conversation! NOTHING. We are trying to figure out how aND WHY IT IS TAKING 1 HOUR AND HALF TO GET A SMALL WOOD FIRE PIZZA AND A BURGER. that's IT!!!!!So I approach the guy at the wood fire oven and say Is there a problem with getting our food, we have been waiting an hour and half, " Im sorry I am the only one cooking and the server is the bartender as well! My mouth dropped! He said he was about to put my pizza in and the burger is still on the grill. should be a COUPLE MINITUES. All the time my husband is saying lets leave now, I am not waiting anymore. I said the cook said a couple more minitues, lets take it home to go. we get out of our chairs and head to the bar side to wait. My husband did not want to wait but I saw the pizza they brought out to the family of 7 and it looked amazing. At this point the server is back behind the bar and appears to be not happy. We informed her we asked for our food to go we needed to get home for my 13 yr old daughter. She went to the kitchen yelled something and immediately came out with our food. She handed us a bill for $51.00. I HAD TO ASK HER FOR AN ITEMIZED BILL, The total seemed high for what we received. So after waiting , serving ourselves for our drinks, no communication from our server, no apology or explanation as to what was going on? Is ther anyone out there that does not feel that An hour and now 45 mins is unreasonable time for a burger with blue chese dressing slapped on a roll, and fries and a small wood fire pizza undercooked and scarce toppings?1 UNREASONABLE!!!!? I still cannot believe the server/bartender did not even offer to comp our drinks or salad? something!! WTH??? If I could post a picture of the pizza and the burger I would. I am still in awe by what we received? I honestly don't understand why a restaurant that has no staff would be open? I am driving back to this restaurant in the morning to demand a refund and giving back the food we took home , it was horrible . So pissed off ! We certainly were not treated as respected customers. First time ever trying this place and 100% the last time I will ever be coming here. Food is NOT what you'd expect walking into a place like this. The entire inside is beautiful and elegant and makes you feel like you're in one of those fancy Italian restaurants. The service 0/10. Took us forever to ever find out waitress. When she did finally come over to our table she rushed along our order without giving us time at all to really look at the menu. When food finally came to our table I ordered a side of mashed potatoes with butter and gravy. She took note of this when i ordered. The food arrived and no butter or salt. 5 minutes later i finally got them. we had no salt or pepper at our table. I kept looking around to find our waitress. She was no where to be found. Never checked in to see how we were or how the food was. Nothing. My date had to get up and ask someone if we could have some salt and pepper at our table. As he was doing so our waitress finally came around and said "ready for the check?" Um... no... we haven't even took a bite of our food yet.... I do realize things are difficult at this time, however we have been there prior to COVID and it was the same. We waited 40 minutes for a table, not bad because we were told a 35 minute wait. We waited 20 minutes to be greeted by a server. We waited over an hour for our food. People who were seated after us were served before us. My order was not correct because they apparently ran out of what I had ordered. The sad part was, I didn't know that until I had gotten my food after waiting an hour for it. The food was very good, but the service leaves a lot to be desired. Only go if you have two hours for dinner. By the way, I ordered a vegetarian pasta and he got a burger. Well I finally decided to come back and give it another try. I'm happy to see they've breathed some life into the restaurant side. It was moderately busy. Everything was ordered exactly the same as the previous visits. This visit was a tremendous improvement from our last visit. The balsamic vinaigrette dressing is clearly home made and I don't want to like it because of its thick pasty texture but it's really quite good. There was actual time spent on presentation and preparation and our Steaks looked very good. They were cooked perfectly and the peppercorn sauce was fantastic. The cut was much leaner than our previous trip but it was still a little tough. I have to say, after watching the wood fired pizzas walk by all night I will be returning to try one.
