I had one of my most favorite Italian meals in a long time the other night! Mangia opened at the end of August in the former Lil' Anthony's Pizza spot in Avalon Park. The new space is cozy and welcoming. I ordered: *Stuffed Mushrooms on top of Marsala Sauce *Pasta e Fagioli Soup *Chicken Parmigiana with Fettuccine *Side of Meatballs *Fresh Bread (complementary) All of the food was spectacular, but the chicken parmigiana was a highlight. Perfectly crispy chicken with the right amount of sauce on top and fresh made pasta....excellent! Mangia is owned by the Zuccarone-Russo Family. They immigrated to Orlando from the Bagnoli quarter of Naples, Italy in 2013. Father and son chef duo, Rosario Russo and Gennaro Russo lead the kitchen. Rosario is a member of the esteemed APCI (Association of Professional Italian Chefs), based in Italy. They are passionate about their Italian heritage and want to share their delicious Italian food and fresh made pasta with their guests. I was way too full to try dessert, but on my next visit I will definitely order Anna Zuccarone's homemade Babà Napoletano. It is rare to find this on a dessert menu at an Italian restaurant. WOW! Mangia is the most authentic Italian food I have had in a while in the Orlando area. The staff was so friendly and we're on top of everything. I got their pizza and I've been dying to have an authentic pizza and it was so delicious. I saved my leftovers for the the next day and they reheated so well. I also had the carbonara and the burrata appetizer and both were great! They come with a shredded Parmesan that doesn't melt easily so it was my only qualm but it didn't change how good everything was. Another great meal at Mangia. Unfortunately they didn't have veal this time and veal not on the menu so you have to ask if they have it. An Italian restaurant without veal is not what' I expect and last time it was so good. This time one of the specials called Rigatoni Norma was amazing. Big pieces of rigatoni with great texture cooked perfectly aldente in the best pomodero sauce I ever had. Rich and tasty tomato sauce with lots of roasted tomatoes and chunks of fried egg plant. Then a big scoop of their rich and creamy Burrata. A unique combination with the cool Burrata on top of the scoop with a melted layer underneath. Large portion so I got to take some home. Went to Mangia for a late lunch. My daughter had previously gone there and raved about their food. The Avalon Park area is very nice and we were lucky to find a parking spot in front of the restaurant. We were seated immediately and our waiter Simon arrived promptly and took our drink orders. I want to say that it seemed that the whole staff was involved in serving the customers. It was one of the best examples of good service that I have ever experienced. They were quick to serve fresh baked bread accompanied by oil and balsamic vinegar. We ordered the calamari appetizer which was fresh, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Hands down the best fried calamari I've tasted. Our entree followed, Gnocchi with a delicious marinara with delicious cheese. Absolutely delicious! We ended the meal with some amazing cannolis and coffee. Absolutely delicious. Great location, great service and great food. I highly recommend Mangia and will definitely be back when in Orlando. read more

The food and service was outstanding. I wouldn't mind going back. In fact I've been there several times. The one complaint I might have is that when I called to make a reservation, there was no identification of who I was calling. I didn't know if I was calling MANGIA or the library I just had to leave a message. Also the chairs were metal and extremely uncomfortable. Having cushions you can offer wouldn't be a bad thing. This place is very disorganized. Their door says they open at 12 and so does Yelp. I drove 45 minutes to be told they open at 2pm. I called at 12 and asked if I needed a reservation for lunch. The lady told me they don't take reservations until 5. She should have mentioned their hours start at 2 today. It was a huge waste of time. I might try back in 6 months if they are still in business. Their food is good but their customer service is horrible. I would pass. They did the same thing with updating their address to the new location. The are very disorganized. read more

The only huge minus was a group with a kid who was shouting & screaming at the top of his lungs nonstop. Parents were totally oblivious & did nothing.
