Ive been using mangiamo for many years. Loved their pizza. Had a Bad experience last week to my surprise. Tried to call in an order and was put on hold indefinitely. I wound up arriving at store before they picked up to take my order. Thats how long i was holding on and being patient. I asked them how this cd b and they laughed at me then responded they forget alot about calls on hold I was a bit surprised and disappointed to think they treat customers like that. I even told them that and the owner and the girl laughed at me. Wrong thing to do Don't like to be laughed at. Im done with them. A shame read more

Robert and staff were very welcoming, patient, and polite. DInning room was decorated and was very quaint and pretty with a comfy feel. Food was served in a timely manner. We ordered chicken parm that came with a sizeable portion of pasta and stuffed shells which both came with a garden or Cesar salad. Garden salad had sliced roasted red pepers, blacl olives, cucumbers, onions and tomatoes. The house Italian dressing was delish...like nothing I've tasted before. We took more than half of our meals home. And a nice bonus was the garlic bread with cheese they serve with meals. They are talking about "PASTA NITES" for Mon & Tues....looking forward to more delish food from this hidden little gem with friendly staff. They had a bunch of specialty pies that look yummy. Stopped at Mariano's while running errands in the area. The staff is friendly and the food is good. With all the Italian place in the area, this one is a must try for the food and the prices. The have a small counter to sit for quick bites and a restaurant style side which is more fancy. In the nicer weather there is outdoor seating which I'm sure helps since the interior seating is on the smaller side. There is ample parking and they accept online orders. read more

If you want to grab a slice and go lots of options, but not much room to sit, a small counter area that gets crowded quick and some window seats looking out. Enough for six tight. We did not get much in terms of variety but both slices were amazing, we popped in before going to the movie theater across the street. Both were amazing a Caesar salad slice (by far my fav seeing it through the glass it just screamed deliciousness) , and house salad slice. Counter service was quick and efficient, we even got some fancy glass dishes! Portion road seems to have a pizza place every 100 meters. This place had a decent size parking lot which is nice, some outdoor seating and a large dinning room with bar. We would definitely come back to get a better sense of the dining experiences. read more

A horrible first experience and I won't be back. Walked in to order and pick-up pizza. Ordered two slices of plain, one slice of spinach ricotta, and one chicken bacon ranch. Paid up front for my slices and the guy working there repeated my order back to me and I watched him put the correct slices in the oven. While I waited the guy behind the counter just chatted with two of his friends. One of them in there leaning on the pizza display with no mask. There was also someone cleaning and mopping the floors, but he also wore his mask on his chin and not over his mouth. After heating up my slices, the employee handed me my box and off I went. I didn't check my order but I should have because much to my chagrin there were only two plain slices and one spinach ricotta that tasted like old cheese and canned spinach. He left out my chicken bacon ranch slice but I wasn't going to drive back 20 minutes try and get that lost slice. Cheap pizza, cheaper service. Avoid especially if going later at night. read more

A pleasant experience...stopped by to get the Barbie pizza & garlic knots (pink food coloring) their pizza was amazing , nice and crispy..Robert the owner is terrific..very friendly ..the food was delicious..the standards they you would find at a pizzeria and restaurant plus specials ,,the right side the pizzeria ,,on the left the Resturant ..nice decor ...plenty of parking the location is in a strip mall ..I highly recommend the Veal Sorrentino with linguine ..the rice balls were very good sliced in half with melted cheese..I was craving for ravioli and Mangiamo didn't disappoint..fried calamari was crunchy and delicious..the little canolis were creamy and fresh ...Robert can also do other specialty pies from Disney characters as well..stop by your family will love the food read more

Let's Eat!   In a few of my reviews on Las Vegas restaurants in my "New York State of Mind List" that served delicious food that reminded me of the New York cuisine I grew up with, my words would say something familiar to "the next best thing to flying from Vegas to New York is eating in this restaurant." Finally in real life, I experienced New York Italian food after flying from Vegas to New York.     Mangiamo is the latest Italian restaurant and pizzeria to occupy the corner spot of the shopping center at the southwest corner of Portion Road and Smith Street. Ever since my family and I moved to this area in 1993 when Blockbuster anchored the shopping center there was an Italian restaurant here. If any of the past restaurants had been as stellar as Mangiamo, I have definitely missing out.    This mom and pop restaurant is separated into two areas. When you walk in there is the attractive glass case showcasing all styles of their appetizing pizza. This is the take out room. To the left, there is a wall that separates the dining room. In the warmer months and during government shutdowns, there is also the outdoor dining patio off the grassy lawn. The dining room provides an intimate environment thanks to the beautiful wall painting of an Italian village on the back wall. The black ceiling with its cozy lighting brings the patron's eyes to the back wall painting. On the north and east-facing sides, windows bring in the sunlight and moonlight. White tablecloths adorn the tables in the center of brown chairs that complement the color pattern. It is in this dining room where my dad and I enjoyed my leading and last dinners on my back to Long Island, New York family trip.    Mangiamo features a two page menu. It is a menu that includes baked dishes, pasta, seafood, chicken on veal, salad, and soup. As for your's truly, the eggplant parmesan fan that I am and who has been yearning for savoring it in a New York Italian restaurant, I was instantaneously decided on this dish both times. At $15, this is a serious bargain. If it wasn't so preciously delicious with the perfect eggplant coated with a sundry of sauce and melted cheese, I wouldn't be writing this. The spectacular meal that Magiamo made me costed about the same price as a beer on the Las Vegas Strip. Speaking of beer, I complemented my first eggplant parmesan dinner with a Michelob Ultra. The second meal was a Coke. The eggplant parmesan dinner included garlic knots, side salad, and choice of pasta. The garlic knots were delicious and addictive. However, being that they are garlic knots they were saucy. I made the mistake of touching my phone while eating one, and believe me that the sauce was more meant for my mouth than the screensaver. In Italian "mangiamo" means "eat more." There was sure plenty to eat. The portions were colossal. The side salad was in reality a large serving of salad. The bowls of angel hair pasta and eggplant parmesan were likewise colossal. Savoring my first meal after hours of flying across the United States on an empty stomach, I had zero issue eating everything. However, on my second meal, it was a two parter.      Both times, my dad and I had the place to ourselves. My observation was that they were doing a lot more take out business. This was the ideal spot to spend time with my dad. Time that is precious. With the moonlight outside and the wall painting in front of me and delicious food below me on a white table cloth table, this was an intimate environment. Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin songs were the soundtrack. On our first night we had a really sweet Waitress. She encouraged my dad and I to take our time. She even asked my dad if there was something that he did not want in his salad. The dining room was so relaxing that I could have spent a couple of more hours here. On the second visit which was at an earlier time, the friendly Waitress had to take time away to help out with the take out business. This made sense since the take out was thriving and we were the only ones in the dining room. She was friendly and did check up on my dad and I.     The dinners that I shared with my dad in Mangiamo were truly precious. This is one of the few times that I was able to share Italian food with my dad in a New York Italian restaurant. We both aren't getting younger. This was a stellar restaurant to mangiamo "let's eat" delicious Italian food in an intimate setting. read more

We couldn't be seated due to a 'large' party. Meanwhile there was an empty 4 top in the back and an entire bar that if it wasn't covered in crap, you could seat 5 people. Went to get slices to go and the girl working man handled the pizzas so bad I wanted to walk behind the counter to help her. Driver sat in the corner coughing his face off waiting for pies to be ready to go. Slices were average and lacked flavor. I attended a 1st Birthday Celebration today at Mangiamo. My first time eating there. I was totally impressed with the quality of the food, portion size, and the service was outstanding! We started with delicious little warm garlic knots topped with fresh garlic. Followed by a sampler platter of baked clams (whole clam), fried mozzarella sticks, fried zucchini sticks, fried ravioli & calamari, which I don't eat so can't comment on the last item. Each one had a nice crunch to the outside & warm soft filling. All were very good but really loved those fried ravioli. The salad with house dressing was delicious! Both of my 3 yr old grandsons even ate every bit of this plentiful bowl of mixed greens, tomato, black olives, etc. Next course a bowl of penne a la vodka. I swore I wouldn't eat it all to leave room for dinner. I ate it all! For my main course Chicken Capriciosa.- a lightly breaded cutlet with fresh chopped ingredients on top & a drizzle of balsamic. Wonderful!! There was approximately 40 people with 2 people serving. Not easy. The woman & young man serving were AMAZING! They flew around room keeping glasses constantly filled with wine, soda or delivering a beer without needing to be asked. Both were so pleasant. I even noticed the male server being nice to the little kids who were obviously underfoot at times as he was serving this group. My only negative....we live an hour away so I won't be able to make this great little restaurant my go-to place on a regular basis. For those lucky enough to live nearby, give them a try. read more

What an AMAZING place !! The food is diverse and delicious! The staff are so truly nice and friendly, it's a joy eating there! They also participate in a program called " Too go to go". You can reserve a "surprise" bag for pick-up at the end of the night-for a reduced price- and " save a meal " from being tossed out !! You get a TON of food- big grandma speciality pieces, calzone, pinwheels- and some regular slices of speciality as well. Whatever you get it your " surprise" it is an AMAZING value !! I'm new to this area- I've been trying a lot of new places. This is during *cardi voice* CORONAVIRUS, so I expected service to be potentially busy considering I ordered around 4PM and today is Sunday, HOWEVER I was rushed off the phone. I ordered a grilled chicken Cesar salad with balsamic dressing and penne with grilled chicken.... legit $30 for only food, no bread with the pasta which was saturated with sauce, noodles were over done bc they were really mushy no cheese or nothing (where they do that at). Mind you I was rushed off the phone and when I go there it was not busy , the phones were not ringing and there were little no no orders ready so doesn't seem too busy for me to get rushed off the phone (felt like I bothered the guy) The Cesar salad.... no cheese, legit 4 croutons and just hella lettuce with cold chicken. This was a $15 dollar salad, and it was legit trash. I ate the cold axx chicken and legit that was all- lettuce wasn't even good/fresh. THIRTY DOLLARS FOR TRASH FOOD AND HORRIBLE SERVICE- what sucks is the pizza slices actually looked good BUT I rather go anywhere else than this place‍‍ 4 other pizzerias you can throw a rock at from this location 1 go there !!!!!! read more

The garlic knots AND pinwheels are topped with a garlic butter that is to die for and the chipotle chicken slices are so good and pat meal at-least 2 meals! We planned on taking out our food since we arrived 20 minutes befored their closing time. The staff was really friendly and convinced us of staying, we ordered Penne alla Vodka and Shrimp Alfredo, the food was beyond-superb and the portions were more than satisfying. We were checked upon as we ate, and our drinks refilled, the check turned out being super reasonable. Service: 10/10 Like you're a King Food: 10/10 Just like home Ambient: 10/10 Dreamlike Dessert alone could have made my night, this ended up being the absolute best experience I've ever had in a restaurant. I've been here a few times but unfortunately this last experience was not good. Food was fine but when it came time for the check we were charged dinner prices for our lunch. I brought it to the waitresses attention when i noticed they charged $5 for the two meatballs in addition to the spaghetti and other entrees were overcharged as well. She came back a few minutes later and said ' the register charged dinner prices ' and gave me a new receipt with what she said were the lunch prices. I look at the receipt and it's total was MORE than the original receipt she gave me. It's like she didn't even bother to look at it even though the total was wrong the first time. I had to go up to the register where the guy added up what we had ordered from the menu and rang it up again. He did not even apologize for trying to overcharge by $10. The lunch menu clearly says salad is included which I've gotten other times I've been here but no salad was served this time. Also ,this is minor but the spaghetti and meatballs was served with way too much sauce. We could have gotten another plate of pasta to use up the excess. I will not be returning and won't recommend. I can understand a mistake but she was just clueless or apathetic. read more

Local pizza joint with decent pizza. Not new york pizza but you arent near the city. Like the bagels, the quality of pizza dramatically decreases the further east on the island you go the pizza changes as well. Sometimes for good, most of the time not so good. This pizza is different from the pizza im used to in Queens. Their sauce is pretty good. Bold, but nothing to write home about. Their crust is a tad bit thick, a bit if a chew to it, but slightly flavorless. Thankfully their pizza is not too greasy which is a huge plus for me. They line the bottom of their pizza with a bit of panko which adds a little bit of texture which is something i absolutely love. Some places use corn meal which kind of gives it a gritty texture as if youre eating sand. Mangiamo doesnt do this. The garlic knots were hit or miss. I have eaten here 5 times order the pizza and knots and i have had inly 1 good experience with the knots. Sometimes the knots were burnt, old/hard, or dry. At time of writing this review they had a special for a regular pie, knots, and a 2L soda for $19. Decent deal for me. Wait staff here is friendly most of the time. When the boss is there, most of the wait staff is super prim and proper, but when the boss is absent, the atmosphere becomes a little to lax and things become more disorganized. today I tried ordering pizza...Horrible. They do not pick up the phone. Eventually when some one picked up the phone he gave me story that some one will take my order.. That was 6 minutes.. then when i called back on the other line they refused to pick up the phone.. then they pick up the phone and hang up..... You try calling them.. see what happeneds... Go else where My neighbor also just tried calling them.. The phone rang 20 times and this happeneds alot here any time of day or night. Well I guess they do not want business. At our next Ronkonkoma chamber of commence meeting I will recommend the board not to use them nor give them a referrals. read more

First time, we call to order a stuffed vegetable pie, but first asked which vegetables were in it to make sure it was ones we would like. Woman says there is only spinach, eggplant, and broccoli in it. Great, so we order it. When we get the pie, it actually comes with a whole bunch of other vegetables, including tons of onions which no one in our group likes in the slightest. We never would have ordered a pie with onions on it. Next time, we call an hour and fifteen minutes before closing to order a stuffed pie and they refuse to make it because it will take too long?? Why post that you are open until 10 if you will not fill orders from an hour and 15 minutes before closing? Obviously we would have called much earlier if the website had said this important information, so yet another dinner ruined. read more

Fist time experience with this restaurant. I decided to give it a try since it was rated more than 3 stars. I ordered penne alla vodka and chicken Marsala dinner with 6 garlic knots with marinara for delivery. Feeling a bit confident that I would receive a decent meal. I paid 34 dollars for what I thought would be an enjoyable meal. The food arrived warm....Ok. No marinara sauce for the half garlic knots I requested. Seriously, they're very small....ok Every operation makes knots to their liking so... this was no exception. The linguini for the Marsala were dry, literally! The chicken was surprisingly fresh and tender. The sauce was a thick but overall it was better tasting than the vodka sauce. The penne alla vodka was most disappointing. Very overly salted and unauthentic. Seems like they just added a splash of milk to The marinara sauce. Also very very dry. I personally will not be ordering from this place again, nor will I recommend. Just seems like quality and service is compromised. There was no care or thought put into executing these 2 dishes. I don't believe they earned my service. I posted because I wanted to share my experience. Great Italian food!! First come with a basket of mozzarella Italian bread!! My Filet mignon salad was delicious, perfectly cooked with great flavor! My husband had the pasta and meatballs, sauce was delicious!! (Coming from a really Italian women) my son had a meatball slice a 10!! Ends the night with two real cheese cannolis!!
