Ok so where do I even start... Throughout the years I've been leaving anonymous reviews on each restaurant, some very good, some very bad. Il Piccolo Villaggio one of people's favorite Italian places in Long Island, some call the hidden gem! If you are new to this place you might love it, like I did throughout the times I've been to this restaurant. Now, this restaurant not too long ago was full of some of the greatest servers I've seen in the Island and had an absolute outstanding incredible service! But it's coming to an end. When you go to an Italian restaurant you expect great food and great service with an adult and people with experience make your night. Lately this restaurant has had many issues with that now is full of kids and girls trying to do this job like is a game, don't get me wrong I am not against female servers or kids getting new jobs, but for me this is not the place to be if you are going to do the real server/waiter/waitress job. Water not being served, not knowing THEIR OWN MENU, not serving the wine after they sell like its self service. If you sell pour help the costumer serve the wine don't just open serve one time and leave because you will not get a good tip and even ask for a good review like this girl does. You walk by or just sitting down you see people looking for their server to ask for water or pour wine themselves. Now why the 3 stars and not 2 or 1? I still see this kid Jeff and always with a good smile on his face, the last good and old school server I know after the 2 old ones left, this kid and the food is the reason some people do go back. Many will say oh it's just because you like this kid but no. Go yourself ask for him and you will see a difference in the service! Sometimes the menu and specials are repetitive and I I tell him make me something he always surprises me! His way of serving the old school way makes me feel hope for this restaurant. Manager or owner if you see this please save your service, take this review as a kind message to get your level back to where it was. This place is a hidden gem! The staff greeted us like family. Our table was ready and. They. Did not rush us but were always there when we needed them. Excellent service. The bruschetta and olives and provolone we delicious and and complementary. The calamari was tender and delicious The main course were all great the stuffed pork roll was covered with a great Marsala sauce , excellent. The veal was so tender you could cut it with a fork the short ribs were tender and delicious. All the pasta sides were homemade and excellent. Bon G and I celebrated our Anniversary Sunday 5/3 at Piccolo Villagio in Islip. 6 pm rezzy a good time cause not crowded yet. We were welcomed and seated immediately. Our servers were cordial and answered any questions we had. Ordered a bottle of Maltapulciano de Abruzzo and it was great with our courses. For appy we split entre of their pasta special. Came here for a date night with my boyfriend, who's Italian and wanted to show me what a truly authentic Italian restaurant is like and it did not disappoint. The food was excellent, and the waitstaff was incredibly friendly. The overall atmosphere felt warm and welcoming, which made the experience even better. This was over a week ago, and I'm still thinking about it I just wish I had taken pictures of the dishes! I'll definitely be coming back to try more items and take photos for a more detailed review. Fantastic unassuming Italian restaurant in Islip. Went on a Saturday at 4, and boy did it fill up fast and get loaded. It's got a classic villa aesthetic inside, and plenty of servers who are super attentive and friendly. The Pappardelle alla Bolognese, Short Rib and risotto, and Veal Milanese were outstanding! First time here at this authentic Italian restaurant. After reading all the wonderful reviews, we just had to try it for ourselves. They make their own homemade pasta so that particularly caught our attention. The restaurant is lovely with a low-key and mellow atmosphere but a bit dark with very dim lighting. Every single server and all staff were extremely attentive , professional, polite, and pleasant. A Complementary appetizer of bruschetta, olives,cheese and bread was brought immediately to the table. It was so delicious.The bread was crispy and warm . We ordered drinks and a few appetizers ... Baked clams and a crab meat and avocado salad both very delicious. For entrees we all went with a pasta dish. I had the Bolognese it was excellent ! We also ordered a couple of desserts, tiramisu and the apple tartlet . Unfortunately, although the tiramisu tasted delicious it was a little on the soggy side. However the apple tart was yummy , with a nice crispy flaky crust. As it was one of our birthdays, they surprised us with a complimentary pannatone decorated with Happy Birthday on the plate . Thank you that was so nice ! Although we did not have any, we were also offered , at the end of the meal a complementary glass of lemon cello ! It was a lovely evening. Last night I make a reservation to IL piccolo Villagio in Islip.. I needed to use a certificate given to us... This would be my 2nd time going as we didn't use the certificate in its entirety the 1st time.. This place is such a hidden gem.. The word quiant comes to mind.. Lots of wood finishes nice bar.. And all these friendly faces of staff eagerly waiting to serve you. We sat and ordered a dirty martini... And I ordered a passion fruit martini... Mine was amazing and my friend could not stop raving about hers.. We asked our server what the specials were.. Without a blink of an eye he explained the specials.. We both ordered the Manicotti filled with spinach and ricotta In vodka sauce.. This was the most delicious meal.. Simple and beautifuly plated. The staff is just a great group of humans.. Found this great little place on the way home from East End. It was open til 10pm. The staff greeted us and served us through dessert with a friendly smile. Food was fresh! Crispy chicken Milanese! From a friends recommendation, we made same day reservations. Super-close to home and now that we've discovered this place, might have to make it a regular date night venue. Nice size parking lot in the back and I'm pretty sure street parking is available if needed. From entering this venue, hostess was kind and accommodating- showed us to our table and offered us two different seating opportunities. From the antipasto that came out first, to a speedy return with cocktails and the choice of flat or spring water... looking around, this venue was slowly filling up. Waiters and bussers hustled all night and the owner (who's name escapes me) was incredibly doting- despite not being our server. He made his rounds to EVERY table and chatted his regulars up. I loved my deconstructed beet/goat cheese salad. All dishes were perfectly portioned. One down fall... the ravioli arrived - aesthetically please dish- center of plate was warm, anything touching the sides- cold. Probably could have asked for a reheat but.... The charm, attention, ambience, and everything in between was stellar. We ordered dessert but when they found out 1) first timers & 2) our anniversary - well another plate of chocolate mousse arrived to our table. Gratis limoncello was poured... just amazing service and experience all round. Highly, highly recommend this place. Reservations recommended(especially for weekends/dinner). Ample bar seating too. LOVE this place. Definitely need a reservation at least on the weekend. The staff was amazing and so so kind. We sat at the bar while we waited a few minutes for our table. Bartender was excellent. He made me a perfect mocktail. Once we sat down someone was at our table right away. Tons of specials. Menu has great option and they were very accommodating if you wanted something else that they may have on hand. I had the bolognese with fresh pappardelle. The pasta was light and the bolognese had so much flavor. My husband had the veal and our friends had the short rib risotto. The short rib fell right off the bone. Dessert was excellent. Tiramisu and the limoncello flute was great. Our friends had espresso martinis and they said they were the best they've had. Extensive specials list, great selection of appetizers, and the bruschetta starter is delicious. The pasta is incredibly fresh and perfectly al dente. We ordered the Orecchiette alla Barese and Linguine alla Vongole both excellent in their own regard, perfect recommendations for our cravings. When we came in, the place was busy with a large party which was unfortunately very loud and rowdy. We were sat in close proximity due to the smaller dining area, but the food made up for the noise! Our favorite restaurant hands down. Do not go if you don't want to become addicted!! The service is incredible from the moment you walk in to when you leave. My wine glass is never empty. They give you bruschetta when you sit down and some cheese and bread, all delicious. We have tried multiple apps, most recently the oyster Rockefeller which were excellent. This time we tried the short rib special and I wish it was a staple on the menu because it is OUTSTANDING!! Broccoli robe and sausage pasta was also a hit. This place is one of the best restaurants I've been to on Long Island. The service was impeccable, they made you feel welcomed and as though they truly wanted you to have a wonderful experience. The food was fantastic. The raviolis we had for a starter were a tad over cooked BUT everything else was absolutely perfect, homemade and delicious. My main issue with eating Italian food at restaurants in the US is that it never is anywhere close to homemade or even Italian. Always loaded with oil and salt and junky fake mozzarella with breaded everything. This was a breath of fresh air amongst a sea of Italian restaurants on Long Island. The homemade pappardelle was incredible. I don't eat meat so they offered to do it with a vodka sauce that I have to say was also incredible. I have not a single bad thing to say. Every single dish was great form appetizer to dessert. The broccoli rabe was fantastic, the burrata with plums, the tricolore, the pistachio tartufo, the pannacotta. I mean all of it. Even the raviolis that were over cooked, were absolutely delicious and the sauce could have been drank in a cup in was so good. May this place continue to thrive and cheers to the chefs for really making some fantastic food. So happy to have found this gem. read more
