Joe's pizza has been our pizza place since we moved to Holbrook in the 70's! When I used to take the LIRR into NYC, before heading back home I'd first swing by Joe's pizza to have a quick slice. It was always nice to see Joe behind the counter, still making the same pizza I grew up on. My wife & I had to do some car swapping in Patchogue, I said lets go back to Holbrook and have pizza at Joe's Pizza. Walking in, they completely remodeled the restaurant! There's now a big beautiful bar in the middle of the space as well as a sit down restaurant. Up front, my wife and I are looking at the various pizzas but I zero in on the 1978 Sicilian Slice. I can honestly say in 1978, I was eating this pizza. There aren't too many places I can think of where the quality has increased, this was a trip down memory lane. Fantastic. Service: the service here was phenomenal. They were very fast with our orders and very kind they gave us free bread which I love and they constantly asked if we wanted refills or something. I really appreciate restaurants that have that close attention and affection for their customers, I really appreciated it. Food: everyone in my party was very happy with their meal. I ordered the margarita pizza I really recommended. The sauce was amazing and the cheese was very drippy and warm. Everybody else was very happy my friend got the chicken Parm and he loved it so much that he ordered it again because he came here before one thing about the food is that there is huge portions so you're probably gonna need a box for your food no matter what you're getting. With a name like Joe's, I knew it would have to be pretty good. I was right, although there is some room for improvement. The soup was HOT! Yes!!! I ordered the chicken noodle soup as it was a chilly night and the small was a nice portion. She did warn me the large was a quart (so I'm not sure why she asked what size). The salad was pretty good! The lettuce was iceberg and it came topped with pizza cheese, delicious red peppers and cherry tomatoes. It kind of reminded me of the Family Guy salad at a Pizza Restaurant clip. But it was yummy and fresh! The Baked Pasta Platter was hit and miss. First, I think it was supposed to come with Lasagna, but I didn't remember. I had stuffed shells, stuffed rigatoni, a manicotti and cheese ravioli. It was a lot of cheese and each had its own unique filling. The manicotti was a bit dry but the stuffed shells were some of the best I ever had. It was a mixed bag, which is why trying a sampler is a good idea for a first timer. They also had a sampler of eggplant, veal and chicken parm which is probably what I'd get if I came back. I also ordered a side of meatballs which were good. A little dense but not dry and had a good flavor. I definitely got too much food and probably would have been full with just the dinner (which came with the salad). I was there between 7 and 8 on a Thursday night and it was pretty busy. There were people dining in and ordering at the counter to take out and sitting around the bar too. It was close to the ISP airport and convenient to the hotel at which I was staying. Joe's looks like your typical Long Island pizzeria, but it's so much more. The restaurant is bigger than it appears from the outside, so you can enjoy a good Italian meal in a clean, spacious environment, or take a slice to go from the counter. I remember going to Joe's as a teenager, and it was delicious. It still is! I recently got takeout after not stopping in for years, and the margherita pizza and garlic knots were perfection. I left this restaurant a review a while ago.. Being optimistic, I tried it again (take out this time). I ordered a regular cheese pie, a calzone, and garlic knots to bring home to the family. First things first, a mouse could eat the calzone and would still be hungry. It might be the smallest calzone on Long Island. Hey "Best of Long Island," is there an award for that? I visit this pizzeria when close by. They have a big selection of specialty slices. We have not tried them all but the ones we have tried have been just OK. BBQ chicken, meatball carbonara, Buffalo chicken, regular, white, their specialty "Branford", and a few others that I can't recall. The crust is what stands out for me. Its got good flavor and crisp. Nothing really wows us! The people behind the counter are kind but a bit too quick or a little too slow to take the slices out of the oven...so luke warm or too crispy. Stay on top of it. The tables were not cleaned on a Tuesday evening. We had to wipe them down ourselves, while the young girls just watched. I don't understand the hype of this place. Especially the "Branford". This place seems like it used to be a lot better and leaves a lot of room for improvement. While the pizza is decent the cheese coming in gross processed packets is a sin for an Italian restaurant in my opinion. I have also tried their chicken Caesar wrap which was flat out bad. The grilled chicken tasted dry and old and the lettuce was old there wasn't much cheese on it either and the dressing was mid. Their fried chicken cutlet was much better a the vodka sauce tastes homemade and has meat it in which I enjoyed. A lot of the items really are hit or miss and I wish it more constant and higher quality over all. I would give it like a 2.7/5 but since most people go for pizza I rounded up to 3 read more

I was looking forward to it today and they tried to tell me about a cauliflower crust personal pizza but I don't want it I just want the cauliflower slice ahhhhh. You don't have to live in Holbrook very long to know that Joe's is a staple of the neighborhood. Not only do they have their famous pizza eating contest annually, but I believe there stand against the test of time and now modern look, will welcome generations to come. One of my best friends who now lives down south came up to visit family. Whenever she visits, it's always a given that we go to Joe's. This place is hopping, always. But since they redid the joint it doesn't seem as congested as it once did. Once you enter, to the left is the pizzeria side but straightahead is a nice big bar that you can grab appetizers at and a white sangria that's pretty delicious. Pass the bar there are more tables for you to dine in. This is a great place to bring your large family whether it be for a casual dinner or a special occasion. The food here is outstanding. I even like the calamari with the cherry peppers, where as at any other restaurant this usually is a hard pass due to how spicy they could be. We got fried artichokes, calamari, fried ravioli and so much more to start with. I hardly could finish my Shrimp Parm hero that I ordered for dinner, but was something I've been craving for a while. Shrimp Parm could be tricky because the shrimp could get really rubbery, but at Joe's it's just right. One thing I do wish is that they make their clam pizza/clam flatbread a regular on their menu. Been here a couple of times when visiting family. I find the staff to be accommodating and cordial. The showcase of specialty pizzas when walking in gets you in the mood. The place is well designed with many upgrades. Usually we come in for pizza and salads which are top notched. Today we ordered meatballs and spaghetti, shrimp parmigiana, and Joe's' special meat platter. The meatballs were ok but seem to be more filling than meat, sauce was pretty good. The meat platter was a disappointment. The veal was dry and hard, the eggplant was mushy, the meatball was very dry. However, the sausage was delicious as well as the moist chicken parmigiana. First time here for me for a family dinner with 9 of us. Most of the rest of the family has been here many times so they weren't surprised but I certainly was! From the outside it looks like any other pizzeria on Long Island but as we arrived at 6PM on a Saturday I noticed many takeout orders heading out to waiting autos. Inside was very busy but we were seated immediately in the rear where they had set up a table that would accommodate our large group. We brought some special wines that that they happily uncorked and served. We had salads, an assortment of hot appetizers and then the main courses which were huge ( plenty to take home)! Most had the Eggplant Parm but I had Scungilli, Calamari and Linguine in a spicy red sauce. Everything was fresh and delicious! The service was great and they didn't miss a beat. I placed order thru door dash , ( sm CAESAR SALAD no croutons, And xtra cheese and 1/2 dozen Garlic knots) and what i got was a large Shit Salad and the sauce was all over my knots! I called and explained what happened and said this isn't the first time it's happened! I said can you please send someone with my correct order as I'm home sick, he gave a little smirk in his voice and said no we don't deliver, i said well i would like to be compensated , he laughed yes laughed and said we are not gonna do anything! Recommended by a good friend, I decided to try this location. I was impressed with the quality of the food, the service, and the restaurant itself. The restaurant itself is nicely done, with a nice bar located in the middle. My only complaint, which I know isn't easy to manage, is the air quality. You will walk out smelling like pizza and food. So if your planning to sit down to have a nice dinner, be prepared as there's no true separation between the front counter and the dinning area. However, the food and service are outstanding--excellent variety of pizza and great sandwiches to choose from. I recommend the stuffed garlic knot and the red onion square. The sandwiches are also delicious, and a great selection of Italian dishes. The location is located inside a plaza, so parking at times is difficult, especially on the weekends. I would highly recommend this establishment. One of the best around! read more

Went here late night to try their world renown "Branford" style pasta dish and it did not disappoint. A normal chicken parm dish is good right? WRONG. Instead of using red sauce, this establishment uses vodka sauce to smother 3 crispy chicken cutlets over al dente penne. Exceptional dish and staff.
