Every second spent here was enjoyable, down to my time in the bathroom (which is BEAUTIFUL, by the way). I stumbled in here through a happy accident. I was visiting a friend who lives in Hampton (I am from NJ) and had no idea of this place's connection to Shark Tank. He offhandedly mentioned a new 'mango restaurant' that he wanted to check out, and my ears immediately perked up. Little did he know...... THIS IS MY FAVORITE SHARK TANK PITCH OF ALL TIME. No, seriously. I re-watch the pitch at least once a month online ever since it first aired. I spent way too much time scouring the web trying to find a place to buy the preserves with no luck. Needless to say, when I realized where I was about to eat lunch, the tears of excitement starting rolling uncontrollably down my face. As far as the actual experience goes, what more can you ask for in a restaurant. It's extremely clean, the menu is creative, the drinks are beautifully served and even tastier than they look, and the food is spectacular. I had the rice & veggies, and my friend had the crab cakes, which he raved about. The dipping sauce that came with the fruit (mango-based sauce, of course), I couldn't get enough of. And my father and uncle (who's birthday it was the day I visited this restaurant, and are bigger fans of Shark Tank than I am), were absolutely ecstatic when I brought them jars of the Mango preserves back as birthday presents. I can't wait to go back and try the mango desserts! In the meantime, I'll have to use my own jar of mango preserves and try some of the awesome sounding recipes they've put on their website. read more

The food here is quite good. If u want to get brunch here get here early. It's not a big place but they do have a upstairs and downstairs. The mango lemonade is maybe the best lemonade I ever had. All of the French toast is pretty good as well. read more

Let me start with this place is small on the inside but do not let that fool you. My wife and I came for brunch and were overwhelmed with how delicious the food was. Tucked away in the middle of little Pheobus is this AMAZING place with a fun atmosphere, very professional staff (OlajachunC) and wonderful food. I had the Pasta Mangeaux and ate every bite!!! From the creamy sauce with the perfect combo of spices, the smokey andouille sausage, the tasty crawfish and the beautiful FRESH shrimp -- JUST WOW!! I washed it down with the waiter's suggested beverage, their version of an Arnold Palmer tea, and couldn't have been happier. We were ok to wait 2 hours for a table of 5. We order drinks and food and waited 1.30 hours and the food didn't came. About 3 New customers came, ordered and left. They got the same plate we order and we still didn't have our order. Waitress was like hiding from us. We enjoyed dinner at Mango Mangeaux. I appreciated the beautiful decor and loved the vibe of the restaurant. Communication between the hostess and the wait staff has to be seamless to accommodate the consumer...this deficit reduced a five star to a four star for me. Once seated, service went very well. We ordered drinks (best ice too) and an amazing appetizer, the vegetarian egg rolls! We almost ordered two but discipline had to kick in! We loved this appetizer. Warm Bread topped with a mango preserve was delivered to our table...my date loved it; I opted to give him the topside of the bread with the mango preserve; I ate the bottom side! Next time I will ask for just the bread...the jelly is a little too sweet for my palate. My date ordered an assortment of vegetables - asparagus, collards, etc. perfectly cooked and seasoned. I ordered the shrimp and grits..I hesitated because I'm a frequent visitor to Charleston/Savannah areas - shrimp and grits are perfectly cooked there...and now I can add Hampton VA - Mango Mangeaux to that list! I accidentally ate ALL of this dish; woke up the next morning and craved it for breakfast!! Now I have to return! No luck with dessert..wanted beignets because we watched an elderly man eat them while we waited to be seated (he licked each of his 10 fingers (gross) but also reflected the deliciousness of those beignets!!) Waiter saw our disappointment and asked us to return in morning for complimentary beignets! I thought this was a nice gesture! We appreciated the warm greeting from the owner too. This is probably the slowest kitchen in Hampton Roads. Granted, we had a party of 9, but it wasn't busy and it was a weekday night. As you walk to the restroom the kitchen is very visible, walking by you can see the kitchen staff working at a casual pace. Our party waited for an hour for the first plate to come out from the kitchen. The food is pretty good, but it is inconsistent in its composition. Three of us ordered the same plate and the consistency varied from each plate. One plate had an abundance of ingredients, and the other was very soupy. Another one of our party was disappointed by his plate, he ordered the stuffed chicken and was disappointed with the small size of the chicken breast. I was about to feel bad for the server because he was good and attentive. But they did charge gratuity at 18%, so I don't feel bad now. Probably won't be coming back. read more

I've been dying to go to this restaurant! I saw all the cool Facebook events for board game night, movie on the patio, and fundraisers! It shows me the owner cares very much giving back to their customers. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful. It's rustic, but modern at the same time. It's smaller than I imagined, but that only reminded me more of the restaurants I've visited in New Orleans. A plus was that this day wasn't busy, so I was immediately seated at a table for 2. After all that was said, I'm disappointed in the breakfast. I ordered the Sledge skillet. It comes with grits, bacon, sausage, 2 eggs, potatoes, and toast. The grits came out gummy...they practically molded with my teeth as I ate. The bacon was burnt brown. Some of the potatoes were cold and some were warm. They were cubed potatoes. The eggs were fine and thw toast fine. It was also served with the mango preserves that I used as a spread on my toast and to be honest I didn't like it at all. My friend that ate breakfast with me ordered the Mrs. B's Fish & Grits. The fish had bones in it and the grits were the same gummy texture. I can't think of any restaurant in this area that I've been to, ordered fish, and still had to pick out the bones. With all that said, it's called a skillet. Every other restaurant I've been to that has a skillet menu item usually serves the meal on a hot skillet. I kinda feel robbed of that experience. I really have this restaurant 2 stars for the 2 mango mimosas I had. Maybe the cook had a bad day, I dunno. But I'm disappointed that this place ranks as $$ on YELP and the cook might have been having a bad day the reason why my food was mediocre. The manager did stop by my table during the meal, but I really just wanted to enjoy my brother's company without adding to our disappointment. We love the food! Nice atmosphere, too - which is important, because you will spend an hour waiting for your order to arrive. We return to this restaurant every so often, hoping that the service will match the food quality. Finally got the chance to try this place after stalking them online for months lol. The service was phenomenal, and the atmosphere was both casual and sophisticated making all feel welcome. The waiter recommended the Mango shrimp appetizer, which was delicious and the Panache platter was flavorful. My only drawback is the portion sizes of both the appetizer and the entree. The pricing should warrant a decent amount food so that the patron can leave full. Besides that I enjoyed supporting this local gem and will be returning for brunch! read more

We came for Father's Day and it was a first experience for all of us. We were the first table seated at 9 am and our orders weren't taken until 9:40 am. We were completely understanding, seeing as it WAS Father's Day. We waited an entire hour and 30 minutes to get our food after asking our server 3 separate times when the food would be ready. She finally had a manager come speak to us. The manager was very stand offish and didn't seem as though she wanted to even hear what we had to say. I explained the issue at hand and instead of owning the experience and acknowledging the issues, she made excuses and tried to place the blame on us stating that we took too long to order and it was on a "first come, first serve basis". We explained that we tried to order 20 minutes prior but the server said they were out of grits and had to check. She walked past us numerous times, taking other people's orders and didn't return until 9:40. Not once did she ask what she could've done to make our experience more enjoyable nor did she think to say anything reassuring. She then gave minimal effort in an attempt to "compensate us" by offering a free round of tea, after stating that the tea is usually a charge. She didn't even remove it from our bill and we had to remind the server to give us our $12 compensation on our $220 bill. I've heard such great reviews about this restaurant. Food is not bad but they are a little slow. The place is small and the kitchen is too so i guess that is why. I have been for brunch and dinner service. Their french toast and croissants are delicious especially with any of their mango infused toppings. Breakfast sides are pretty standard (bacon, eggs, grits, potatoes) none ever taste bad but nothing to rave about. I've also tried the shrimp and grits which is quite tasty but just needs more shrimp. Their mango infused teas and lemonades are yummy as well. Service is so so the waiters aren't always attentive but aren't rude at least the times ive been. They are typically busy so id recommend making reservations if you can. read more

I was impressed with the uses of their special bottled mango concoctions at the Yorktown Blues Brews and BBQ festival. They offered me a special price of $12 for two bottles and offered to keep them for me until the end of the festival. We left briefly, checked into our hotel, and returned at 5:35 pm and they were completely gone!! So far I have called three times and written three emails in an attempt to obtain my product. We came here on 1/1/17... and discovered it had been 1 year since their Opening.... Happy 1st Anniversary, Mango Mangeaux!!!!!! We had an AWESOME experience here!!!! My husband, dad (who will be 90 yrs old on 4/26/17), and I first stopped by Olde Towne Tavern in Hampton, VA (a recommendation from my sister), but they were closed .... it was New Years Day... and around 2:30pm, so now we are thinking that we will be lucky to find ANY restaurant open... and might have to settle for a fast food restaurant!! We rode by and stopped at a place that looked open, but when we went in, it was so loud, we could hardly even think!!!! We then walked by Mango Mangeaux... I immediately noticed all the orange colors on the store front and we are big Hokies Fans... so I was thinking how a little splash of maroon would be nice... but when I read the name Mango Mangeaux, I could understand the color choice!! Upon reading the restaurant name, I immediately recalled when they had been on Shark Tank, and we LOVE their Mango Mango product and this past summer had seen them twice at Yorktown Market Days... and had to taste their samples... and leave each time with several bottles!!!! YUMMY STUFF!! .... getting back to 1/1/17.... we went inside and the "Mango orange" colored decor was beautifully done throughout!! It was very busy, but a table opened up in about 10 minutes! Smooth Jazz music was playing and we had just missed a live performance of Rick Elliott, saxophonist, but we got his business card and hope to check out future playing dates (www.RickElliottMusic.com). My husband went on his website, soon after we were seated, to listen to some snippets of Rick's music... wow... we just love his music!! .... Here's how my daughter and I recommend dining here. First, share a flight of mimosas. Wow, the pomegranete was our favorite, but all the others were good, too. Then we shared a Chesapeake Benedict. Yum, yum, yum, yum--the best benedict we've ever had. And we shared a croissant basket which had 3 fluffy, warm croissants and slatherings of mango preserves, mango butter and mango dip. We were so impressed with everything here. I don't know if I've ever been in a restaurant that paid such attention to detail. The staff is so gracious and well attuned to customers. This is a really nice and laid back spot. It's comfy and the staff is super friendly and down to earth. We sat at the bar and I forgot our bartender's name but he was excellent. My boyfriend is from the area. We live in the DC area and drive to the hampton area to visit family. This visit was to look at a house in Virginia Beach we were interested in buying. We've been trying to eat at this restaurant for a while and decided to see if we could get a table today May 7 late lunchtime. We walked in and the "hostess" said it was a 30 minute wait. We saw at least 3 open tables. I asked about the tables and she said they were reserved for other people. I asked where are they. She said they have 10 minutes to reply. I'm thinking 10 minutes to reply for 3 tables? It didn't make sense to me. She wasn't friendly or accommodating. There was no eye contact and could care less whether we stayed or left. That was the attitude I received. As we've done 3 other times, walked across the street and ate at Fullers. The food and service is always on point. Will not be going back to Mangoes. read more
