From the painted walls of maps of the Florida keys, the photos of sports fish boat, and men holding fish, you definitely get the keys vibe I always grew up with. Many different options from varieties of omelets, pancakes, to prepared potato's. I ordered two eggs scrambled with toast, hash browns and bacon. Food tasted fresh and was what I expected - delicious. Plus they had deli sandwich's to go which is good to know before a long day fishing. Definitely will pick up from here in the future. My biggest complaint - the yelp description is not accurate. There is no outdoor seating unlike the description on Yelp says. Had an awesome time at Mangrove Mike's Cafe. The food was good, the place was homey, and the service was wonderful. Everyone was kind to our kids and we were a big party of 9 (3 kids). Tater tots were great, got a bunch of different breakfast items like the breakfast sandwich and the 2 eggs breakfast. We also ordered the French toast sampler, and I'm glad we just ordered that to share between us all because it was a lot of sweetness. The cinnamon roll French toast was incredible, so much of it too! They really are famous for the French toast, it's a must try. The BLT was ok, not bad but nothing special. I was originally attracted to this spot while looking on Yelp for a place to stop for lunch on our drive to Key West because of the giant shark out front and the pirate logo. Yelp shows they have wi-fi but they actually do not. Just a head's up for people who may have to work remotely during your Keys trip. My bf was able to get a good signal on his phone's hot spot, so you have that alternative if needed. This place has a great no frills island diner vibe. It seems to attract a lot of locals as well as tourists. Our server Elisa was friendly and patient with me since I couldn't decide what I wanted. Breakfast & lunch is served here. Breakfast is served all day. Be sure to check their specials board as you walk in. The portions are huge. The menu is comfort food and is very yummy. You seat yourself and it was not busy at all for our visit on a Monday. I ordered the 2 egg breakfast with bacon. Boyfriend got the Country Scramble with ham, eggs and potatoes topped with sausage gravy which he really liked; portion was very large so he brought part of it back to the hotel to enjoy again the next morning before we go on our fishing charter. This place is super cute. It's attached to an art studio. That's fun to walk through and look at all the photos while you're waiting for a table or after you eat. This was actually the first restaurant I took all three of my children to all by myself for the first time. They were super nice and let me go ahead and pay before my food came just in case I needed to leave with my baby and two small children. All of the staff was super sweet and said hello to my kids. Such a cute keys diner! We were looking for a casual breakfast spot and this place delivered! It's next to a cute art and gift shop so if you have to wait then take a look around there. There's plenty of parking you just gotta look around for it. The place was PACKED, but there was a corner booth open so they offered us that. The server came over quickly and we ordered coffees and looked over the placemat menus. We both ordered the mangrove breakfast which was a 2-2-2 kinda thing (2 pancakes, bacon/sausage and eggs). Honestly best decision of our lives! Do not get the Belgian waffle unless you are looking for a plain waffle on its own. A girl next to us was pretty rude to a server and said "is it really $11 for a waffle?!?"..the whole place went silent. So unless you really want a plain waffle just get a platter for the same price. OMG If you are hungry for one of the Keys best breakfasts, you have my word, this is the place. Our host Kelly had the best attitude and knew how deal with everyone. If you are lucky, you'll be seated in her station. I don't care what you get, the serving sizes are more than fair and the quality was far above expectations. The pancakes are as large as the plate, eggs are cooked perfectly to order, and the link sausage are the larger size, not those little one you get at most restaurants or hotel breakfast bars. Everyone here was talking and laughing with each other and watching all the plates coming out of the kitchen. I didn't order the biscuits and gravy but it looked awesome and if you are really hungry or you simply want to have 2 to 3 breakfast's on one plate, order any of the Tatter Tot Towers. My wife had the egg sandwich on a croissant with bacon and homestyle potatoes. The croissant was large and flaky with enough ingredients to make the sandwich hearty. Fun view watching the sport fishing boats clean fish and (not intentionally) "feed" the pelicans. I had the turkey breast wrap w tater tots. Lots of fresh ingredients and a build my own wrap style to ensure it was everything I wanted. Also tasted the chef salad w addition of blackened Mahi. All very fresh and good. My husband brought me here for my birthday breakfast today on our vacation to the Keys. We were promptly greeted and seated by friendly staff. The vibe is the quirky, fun kind you expect at a coastal eatery. The menu was pretty varied, with a separate menu page, full of special French toast flavors (with this being pretty much my favorite breakfast dish...so I was in heaven with all the possible choices). This dish (as well as pancakes & waffles) had options to add things like cinnamon apples (wow). I opted for the pumpkin and cream cheese French toast. The toast is made from fairly 'firm' bread, which appeared shaped a bit like a cinnamon roll. It definitely tasted like pumpkin, layered with cream cheese....sweet yes, but not overly so (like some similar dishes I've had). It came with heated maple syrup--a feature I always appreciate (who wants cold syrup?). My husband really liked his eggs and bacon, with his only complaint being that his bacon was more 'done' than he prefers. The restaurant had a nice, casual atmosphere with an attached gift shop. The selection wasn't crazy overpriced like some of the other places we've visited. For breakfast, I had the biscuits and gravy. It's a dish I try everywhere I travel to see their take on it. I was pleasantly surprised.
