Decided to have breakfast here a couple of days ago, and it was so good we came back for lunch the next day! The staff were friendly and welcoming. The restaurant had a nice, casual atmosphere with an attached gift shop. The selection wasn't crazy overpriced like some of the other places we've visited. For breakfast, I had the biscuits and gravy. It's a dish I try everywhere I travel to see their take on it. I was pleasantly surprised. Authentic southern style with ample sausage to give it a great flavor. Was relieved they didn't put a weird spin on it. Pure goodness! Yesterday we decided to try their lunch menu. I ordered the patty melt with tater tots, and my friend ordered the California burger. Both dishes were tasty and exceeded our expectations. Had breakfast here this morning. Food and service were great. I had the benedict with blue crab and he had country fried steak. While the place was generally clean, they are currently not following social distancing guidelines. Some plexiglass has been hung, but they aren't large enough to block much. All seats are being used. Staff was wearing masks, but customers weren't when walking to the bathroom, etc. Everyone used the same pen at the register to sign their receipt. No temperature check or information gathered for contact tracing. I'd give them 5 stars if they were taking better precautions. read more

Mangrove mikes is one of the top breakfast spots in all of the keys. Its an old school place that serves huge tasty portions at a low price. Most likely you wont be able to finish your meal so arrive hungry. Their pancakes are gigantic but also very tasty. My wife orders country fried steak everywhere and she said it was one of the best she has ever had. The service is great here. Mostly older ladies that seam like they have been working there for many years. They have a very keys like theme with lots of mounted fish and pictures of fishing on the walls. They play diving videos on their TVs which is pretty cool. Get there early because it gets pretty crowded later in the day. If youre in the keys you need to go get breakfast here at least once. read more

Highly recommend Mangrove Mikes for Mahi Mahi sandwich. We loved their blackened spicing!! I opted for no bread though my husband loved the bun and ate it as a sandwich. I ordered the chicken fried steak and it came out burnt. The manager got a new one cooked for me and it was made properly. However, the chicken fried steak is a prefab premade product they purchase. I personally do not like the premade stuff and prefer a fresh breaded product. I am a professional chef and I'm fully aware of the labor. It takes to make a fresh chicken fried steak but if you can't make it fresh, then you should just not put it on the menu. Also just a note for the owner Page appears to respond to every review; the Coke machine needs calibrated and you're losing money on your bibs of product. It is dispensing too much syrup to soda ratio. The place was very cute. The service was great. The hostess was very kind and everyone seemed to be working really well. I have just moved to town and I will make sure to return for the cinnamon rolls, and give them a second shot for a better review, but I simply was not pleased with my product that I paid 20 bucks for. Also, the lady cleaning tables with her hair pulled back in a pony tail was not nice nor did she appear to be pleasant. I believe the term is RBF? She just looked unhappy and snapped her fingers at the bus boy. If one of my servers or floor attendants looked like that I would have to have a coaching moment with them. We ate out here twice on our 4 night stay in Islamorada (4 times if you count left overs we took back). The staff was very warm and kind. Food comes out quickly and taste great! The have a huge menu and you can't really go wrong with any of it. I ordered the "kitchen sink" breakfast tater tot tower w/ country gravy and a side of corned beef hash. 10/10 - PSA this dish is more than enough for TWO people and I can eat a LOT. I also ordered the chocolate chip pancakes bc I had a sweet tooth. Pancakes weren't anything special, but they did the job! 6.5/10. My fiancé ordered the Eggs Benedict bc of the reviews. SUCH good breakfast food! I ordered the hangover helper (I think that's what it's called!) and it was so yummy! The sausage gravy is delicious, the eggs were cooked perfectly, the biscuits hot and fluffy, and the potatoes were also delicious. Next time, I might do just the biscuit and gravy and get the eggs a la carte just because it was so much food and I couldn't finish it. The server was funny and speedy and sweet. We decided to stop by Mangrove Mike's this morning after seeing that it had the best reviews on Yelp of anywhere for breakfast in the area. The ambiance is cute and fun. Lots of bright colors, and who doesn't like a huge life size shark head you can put your face in? On to the food..I had the hog fish Benedict and tator tots which I definitely enjoyed. The bread on the English muffin was a tiny bit chewy but the fish and eggs were both cooked nicely. The lobster sauce is amazing! The tator tots dipped in the lobster sauce also paired well as our friendly and sweet server said that they would. My husband got an açaí bowl and home fries. We shared a cinnamon roll. It was just okay. Too much cream cheese icing and not enough cinnamon for my liking. But I think that can be chalked up to personal preference. Our server did forget the home fries and then forgot them again after she was asked. It's a busy place but I don't feel like I can give the full 5 stars because we had pretty high expectations and only I ended up being impressed. We may have to stop back in before the end of the week to try some of the blueberry breakfast cake. The menu has so many options and I was struggling with a bit of food FOMO during my visit! You have to experience this place at least once! Came for breakfast on our way back to Hollywood after a quick few days in Islamorada. Fun decor - looked to me like a Jersey diner combined with a Florida shrimp shack. The food is fantastic, the portions large and the menu is familiar yet tantalizing. The cinnamon bun French toast is wonderful slices of heaven. The Grilled Brie Egg Sandwich was a whole new twist with the raspberry marmalade-so good! Corned beef hash was outstanding, and two scrambled eggs looked like six they were so fluffy. Staff is friendly and you're supporting a family-owned business which is great. We all ordered something different and each were please with the choice. Starting with me, I had the original eggs Benedict, generous sized plate complete with hash browns, and coffee. The hollandaise sauce was rich and creamy. The rest of the team was content to have omelettes and eggs cafe style and was just perfect. What made the experience perfect was the attitude of the servers which was exactly what you might expect from a coastal cafe - sassy, witty, take no bullshit cuz they've heard it all, and at the same time friendly and efficient. They serve breakfast all day. They had all different types of pancakes, french toast, omelettes, wraps, etc. I had the mexican omelette which was quite tasty and different. It had cheddar cheese, chili, jalepenos topped with sour cream and guac. You can do homefries, hash browns, grits, or fruit as a side. Also comes with toast. The portion size was huge! We love Mangrove Mikes! We actually liked this place so much that we went two days in a row! The food was great and the restaurant was packed with locals (which is always a great sign). The first day, I ordered the blue crab eggs benedict and I was so impressed by the amount of crab they put into this dish. They definitely didn't skimp on the crab, which is awesome! The second day I ordered two items- a Mushroom and Cheese egg white omelette and blueberry French toast. Both items were great! The omelette was exactly what I wanted- cooked perfectly and full of mushrooms and cheese. It was also a pretty large omelette, I was able to take some home. I'm not usually a French toast lover, but I saw someone at another table eating the blueberry French toast and couldn't resist ordering some myself. They were so good! Not quite your typical French toast, but I actually liked it better. They were thick and rectangular-shaped. I highly recommend! As we were leaving the restaurant, we had the pleasure of meeting Mangrove Mike himself! He was the former mayor of Islamorada and currently a county commissioner for Monroe county. I am giving it one star because the first time we went , the woman who greeeted and seated us was so nice that I overlooked how dirty the place is. Otherwise I would give it one star. We had pancakes and they were good. Hard to mess up a pancake. The scrambled eggs were paper thin and the bacon was fine. We went back the next morning because it was on the way to our early morning destination and the service wasn't as good. This time we both had omelette and they were both super disappointing. No flavor. Home fries are a joke - no flavor, soft like they were boiled or something. But mostly the place is dated but more disturbing, dirty. The bathroom floor has dirty in corners that's been there for years. Everything has a layer on it. It's gross. read more
