1-star review Manhattan Bagel in Exton has gotten ridiculous with their breakfast sandwich prices. What used to be around $5.50 is now basically $9 for a sandwich with 2 slices of pork roll and 2 slices of bacon on bread -- no egg, no cheese, nothing else. That is honestly insane for what you get. Last four times I was in, I got the same sandwiches never change it, I got different prices, how is that even a thing?! It's not even about inflation at this point, it's about value. Charging that much for a tiny, basic sandwich feels like straight-up robbery. For $9, a breakfast sandwich should at least feel substantial and actually be worth it. Exton seriously needs a breakfast sandwich spot that knows how to cook, gives decent portions, and doesn't make customers feel ripped off every time they order. Really disappointing. read more

The quality of the bagels has gone down. Years ago they were very moist, chewy, and flavorful. Now they're rubbery and bland.

Customer service by the store owner! Bagels are delicious, his staff very nice, but the owner nickels and dimes you! I bought 3 dozen bagels and asked for the bagels with dairy to be separated from the other bagels, all in freezer bags. He refused to give me the 13th bagel for each of the dozen and was going to charge me for the extra dairy free bagel frozen bag! At check out he decided not to charge for the plastic bag, still refused the 3 - 13th bagels, because I also bought 2 Lox bagel specials. read more

I ordered the egg and American cheese on a plain bagel. It was $6.99. It was perfect! The egg was mostly cooked except for a small bit of runny yolk. They had already seasoned with salt and pepper. I'm very sad that this place has gone downhill in just a few years of reopening. My husband just stopped and bought a dozen bagels and two egg and cheese sandwiches one of which was supposed to be egg and cheese on a cheddar bagel for me. I was heartbroken when this location closed and so hype when it reopened with new owners, but it's just been disappointing. You would expect their bagels would be better than Giant's or even Wawa, but they're not. Everything bagels specifically are soft, chewy, and hardly any seasoning whatsoever. You can find more flavor in a grocery store bagel. It also doesn't seem to matter if you ask for it toasted or not, it'll be chewy and wet. Egg is dry and unmixed, so you'll have one bite of overdone yolk and then the rest will be overdone shavings of egg white. Never thought I'd say that I would've rather gotten a Wawa sizzli instead but that's how awful it was. read more

Avoid for business breakfast catering, overpriced for the amount of food you actually get. Ordered one $28 box if coffee, one $30 asst bagel box, and two $92 breakfast sandwich assortments (meat, egg & cheese), which was 10 bagel sandwiches per each asst, that's $9.20 each bagel sandwich! Not much bagel variety in my order, all were wrapped in one sheet of alum wrap, nothing was labeled, and thrown in a paper bag, no presentation whatsoever. To set this up, I called the restaurant the day before, talked to a Mgr, had it all set up for 7:15am pick up, paid in advance on their preferred website, even selected 7:15am pickup time on the order. I arrived on time, coffee and bagels were ready, but had to wait around until 7:45am to get the bagel sandwiches, making me almost late for my morning meeting. The Bagels were fresh, but that's where it ended. Coffee was cold (prob because of the 30 min wait), sandwiches were just ok, but definitely not worth $9+ each. The Staff (2 women & 1 man) were running around (hence the 2nd star) and I could hardly understand what they were saying, cell phone on the ladies shoulder while cooking/assembling sandwiches, chirping illegible sentences to all, including the customers. This place used to be awesome, but lately I find that it takes forever to be waited on even if I am the only person in the store. They hardly ever have my favorite, jalapeño cheddar, in stock. You'd think if they were sold out of them by 9:00 they would MAKE MORE! I stopped there twice this morning and was never waited on. Absolutely disgusting. I can appreciate that this franchise is being run as a "family business" but you need to have some idea of how to run a bagel shop before entering into this endeavor. Counter service is friendly but inept. The prep line is an absolute disaster. Health department should really pay them a visit. Food waste all over - including egg / egg shells. Food storage on the line is open and exposed to inspects - which are all over the place. Bagels get toasted and set aside - no one having a clue what to do with them. Griddle has numerous orders sitting in various states of prep with no rhyme or reason. Not sure how anyone gets the orders right. I'm used to poor service and long waits here but today took the cake. Never again. Walked in, only a mother and daughter in line. Thought this would be actually one of a few times I can get in and out in less than 20 mins. Placed my order and went to to wait. Business started picking up per usual. Began to see people who came in after receive their orders. After 10 min wait I asked the man about my order. I see the woman who took my order look concerned, run back to register and rering it, come back and give ticket to the male. No worries, it happens, however he then places it after all the other tickets. I try to get his attention and say no, I've been in line more than 10 mins and when I came in only one person was in line. He rudely says no, you are at end of line, you wait. It takes another 27 mins to get my food. He motions to me it's ready, and repeats the order ending with 2 hash browns. I said no, I paid for 3, he says "ticket says 2, you paid for 2". No, she rerang my ticket and missed a hash brown. I have three bagels and 3 hash browns. He says no and pushes bag towards me. I'm speechless, a $47 order (including 22% tip because you tip when you order), a lost order, a 37 min wait and you refuse to give me a hash brown I paid for. Never ever again. read more

This place is horrible. No matter the time you will wait at least 10 minutes just to get to the front of the line. All while watching employees stand around doing nothing. They are always either understaffed, or have incompetent people, and the place is filthy. This is a direct reflection of management. If there were any other local place to get a bagel this place would be shut down in a week. And the bagels aren't even that good. Why did I wait 25 min when there were less than a handful of people in the store? Why are they all moving at snail speed? They are literally never open. The last three times I called between noon and 1 PM, the one time someone answered and said that they were closing early because they were slow. Seems alot better now that it's reopened. Service used to be dreadful, long lines barely moved. Now, the food seems even better, but service is alot better! The workers seem to care, move things along, much more organized. One worker even opened a little early on a holiday recently, and was really helpful and friendly. Just felt I had to contact the owner about my experience . . . I stopped in to the Manhattan Bagel store on Uwchlan Ave, Chester Springs, a few days ago to place an order for a bagel tray to serve at a real estate closing. I had a very difficult time communicating with Kazi and ended up ordering far more than I would have ordered had I understood him (but did not know that). Today when I picked up the order just 1/2 hour before I needed it (so no time to adjust), the order was far more than I expected - Broadway Box. I feel that his inability to communicate clearly caused an up-selling of my order. I tried to put this in the email so it would be private but the email did not work. read more

Couldn't stay for more than 10 minutes because two employees were arguing the entire time, extremely loudly-- it was very disturbing. Best Jalapeño Cheddar bagels around. Selection can sometimes be limited but if you call in advance they can typically get what you need for your bagels (to go dozen, etc). Glad it opened again after closed. There aren't any bagel places around and this one fills a much needed void. read more
