Spicy Fish Filet (Remade order) (Untouched)

Visited the West Ten mile location in Southfield last week. I placed an order that included a Spicy Fish filet sandwich plain. After obtaining the order it had mayo on it. I gave it back, they confirmed plain, with nothing on the filet. Fine, I wait for a new sandwich. I assumed I would receive was a new plain filet and all would be well. Why i received was a nugget style sandwich with portions of mayo still on the fish. I asked the young man at the counter, are you sure you want to give me this, as I showed it to him. He answered yrah, that's how it comes. He was very nonchalant and dismissive. I promptly asked for a refund. Mistakes do happen. I have no issues with a mistake. However, I can spend money at any restaurant. If I choose to patronize an establishment that has a person at the front counter who is rude, dismissive and nonchalant, this is my time to make this the last visit ever. Small ass pieces of perch!! Unreal. Not worth the money at all.

It was definitely a busy day for the restaurant, but it was expected since it was father's day. Before sitting at the table I did notice many crumbs in the seats and had to ask an employee for a wet towel. They did assist on fixing the problem, it just would've been better if they noticed before bringing us to our table. Once seated we started looking over the menu. Bread and butter was brought to the table. The butter that came with the bread was very tasty. I really enjoyed the flavor. Naturally it did take a while for our entree orders to come out, but everybody's drink orders and food orders came out perfect temp and correctly. Our waiter was very down to earth and paid attention to the details of everybody's order. I ordered the Catfish Atchafalaya and that entire plate was scrumptious! The fresh string beans were cooked exactly how I prefer along with the buttery mashed potatoes. The grilled catfish and atchafalaya was so flavorful! It was truly the perfect meal for me. I noticed most people enjoyed their meal as well. It was a lovely time and I wouldn't be surprised if we decided to come here again.

I've been there several times with my son and always had a good experience. However, today I walked in and it was like nobody saw me and I stood there at the entrance and I stood there. Two gentlemen came in behind me and the girl saw them and she seated them and then she saw me and she said 'are you here to eat' I said, "of course I'll take the seat by the window facing Maple" and she said "OK go ahead and I'll bring you a menu"! She never did. Eventually, the Server who was working that table. She saw me and she was training another person today and she says I'll be right with you! Well, a minute turned into another minute and another minute and several other people came in and then she came to me and said "what are you having?" I said "I don't know. I don't have a menu!" "Oh" she said "She didn't give you a menu!" I said, No, She didn't give me anything"! So the Server and her trainee went and got me a menu and a glass of water, silverware and napkin! After waiting and waiting for my server and her trainee to return and more people to be seated, my server returned and took my order! Lobster bisque and halibut with green beans no potatoes! Then, for more waiting! And I waited and waited and waiting! They brought my lobster bisque! I tell you! They just do not know how to make a lobster bisque in Birmingham thus far! Not up to par. It was orange and not a bit of lobster in it! Nor the smell of lobster was nowhere near it! I don't know what these restaurants think lobster bisque is. Did not even return to remove my bowl or replenish my water! Never saw them again! Then, I waited another long time until they brought out my main course which was pathetic and the sauce with it was so salty that I couldn't even use it so I did sprinkle some lemon on the fish and try to eat it. The best thing about the meal was the green beans! I ate part of the fish, but it was more or less tasteless! Not one time did my server come to check on me to see if everything was OK and as she was bringing me my check, she poured me some more water, that was really good. The only time she checked on me! The water. Did I tip her? Hummm NO! Oh no oh no! I'm a very good tipper for good service! What could improve? Everything!

Sad to say we were truly disappointed. When we walked in there were plenty of open tables (about 7-10), yet we were stuck waiting for 30 minutes in the hallway of a strip mall. Finally once seated, it took the server another 30 minutes to greet us and come take our order. The plus was that there were already menus on the table. Once we placed our order, the wait was extremely long for some boiled shrimp in a bag. Tables who later came after us were already receiving food and fast service. The anticipation grew, as after so long we were presented with bibs, time passed, then presented with paper for the table, time passed, then finally our food arrived (another hour of waiting for boiled shrimp) I had the shrimp po boy and French fries, both which were pretty good. As we were ordering we tried to place a carry out order. In which, we were instructed to wait as it would be "best" to order closer to the time we leave. The waitress was rude and very soft spoken. Her demeanor was nonchalant and non welcoming. She disappeared and then returned once a hour to accommodate us but failed to check in on our experience. Overall, the food was okay. My friends didn't really enjoy the crab legs and shrimp. They stated it lacked flavor and tasted like straight butter. With our experience with seafood places, i agree with their concern. If you're looking for a great place to talk and catch up, this is definitely the spot for you. They will take forever in the day, even at 1 in the afternoon.

It's relatively small inside, but the outdoor seating is comfortable, and the bar looks like a great place to sit if you can grab a seat. The service was outstanding. Everyone knew the menu inside and out, had great recommendations, and kept everything moving at the perfect pace. We tried both the hot and cold lobster rolls, and both were excellent. The Millennium Falcon seafood tower was the star of the meal--fresh, beautifully presented, and absolutely worth ordering. The oysters were some of the best I've had recently, especially considering we're this far from the ocean. The crab dip was unique, flavorful, and something I'd happily order again. The only dish that didn't quite hit for me was the lobster gnocchi. It was presented beautifully, but for my palate there was just a little too much tarragon in the cream sauce. That's more of a personal preference than a flaw in the dish. The restrooms were clean, parking is limited, but so is the seating, so it seems to balance out. Overall, there's really not much bad to say about Voyager. Excellent seafood, knowledgeable service, and a fun atmosphere make it one of the better dining experiences in the area. I'd gladly return

While it wasn't totally full, I was still surprised at how busy it was so I would try and make a reservation. Decently sized bar and a fair amount of seats but it's a relatively small interior. Our waitress was fantastic. She walked us through the specials and was extremely patient with us trying to decide what all to order. 10/10 service. The food was spectacular. We started with a dozen oysters. They were fantastic. Didn't even need cocktail sauce or mignonette. We also did an order of the buffalo halibut cheeks which was a special. Wow. What a dish. Not too spicy in part because of the ranch that came with it; the cheeks were perfectly cooked. They could not have been more tender. One of the best bites I've had in quite some time. We did another dozen oysters which came from a different spot. I thought that was a nice touch. For $2 an oyster, they were begging us to order haha. Seriously though; fantastic deal. Finally, I had the fish sandwich. The tartare sauce was a bit overpowering but I liked the taste so no complaints. Fish was perfectly fried and I liked the inclusion of pickles of which there were many. A very solid fish sandwich. They brought us a brownie and a bit of ice cream on the house which I very much appreciated. Talk about a delicious brownie. It had no right being that good. Must order. Glad I finally tried Voyager and I can't wait to return. I could see this getting a Bib Gourmand Michelin recognition next year.

My first impression: Noisy! Lots of hard surfaces. Difficult to hear the hostess, server and my wife. The tables were appropriately spaced for diners and servers to work with no bump & grind. We started by sharing a dozen oysters and the pear/walnuts salad. The oysters were a bit small-ish; but otherwise, excellent. Server took a drink order from my wife, but skipped me. Eh? I flagged down another server to order a Pino. It took a surprisingly long time to arrive. On the plus side, I was offered a taste to insure it was satisfactory - it was. The pear salad w/walnuts was excellent. The pears were sliced paper-thin. One of the joys of eating a properly ripened pear is the juicy explosion and thinly sliced pears defeat the juicy explosion. If the pears were fully ripe, perhaps cube them? Weirdly; the two sides (mushrooms, potatoes) were served before the entrees. The server noticed, seemed surprised and withdrew the sides, returning with our entrees (lamb shoulder, steak). Then the side returned. Both entrees were warm-ish and the sides were hot. The 14-day, dry-aged steak was ordered medium-rare and was seasoned and prepared as ordered. Again; warm-ish, not hot. I expected better beefy flavor for a dry-aged steak. One end was a bit chewy. Tenderness improved as I got to the other end of the steak. I ordered it with horseradish. I will admit to being a weirdo who loves spicy horseradish (and wasabi) that will clean the sinuses - this was "Ohio-spice'd" horseradish ... not creamy, but less spicy than Arby's Horsey sauce. The mushroom and the potato sides were served hot from the kitchen. Both were excellent, no complaints. The presentation of the steak needs improvement. It was a properly prepared, lonely lump of brown, served on a white plate with cracked ceramic glaze. The lamb shoulder was the better entree. For some reason, my wife was expecting Middle Eastern seasoning. The menu did not mention Middle Eastern seasoning and she did not ask, so that's on her, not the kitchen. I thought it was excellent. Gripe: After the entrees arrived, our server did not return to ask if the entrees were satisfactory. She did return later to ask if we wanted a second round of drinks. We did ... We were offered dessert and ordered, but never asked if we wanted coffee or an after dinner drink. Both desserts were excellent. Will we return? Probably ... not. With tip; dinner for two was $286. At this price point I expect better: Less noise, better beef and flawless service.
