I stopped here for lunch the first time last Friday. When I walked in, the place looked for a back of better term run down and outdated -- not a lot of places to eat there inside. And the barstool next to the counter was very uncomfortable and kept sliding forward. I ended up moving to the table and now saying that. I was greeted with a smile, and a warm welcome from the young lady was taking my order. I ordered up the Codfish and Chips with french fries with a side of hushpuppies. This place has the best chicken strips I've had in a long time. These are like half a breast slabs, also with not a trace of grease. Alright thd oddest thing for me was that the chicken had two different seasoning. I had ordered a 4pc chicken mix dinner; the wing was seasoned excellent but all of others seemed like thwy were just dropped in. It was a 15mins wait which I called in - honestly I didnt know this place was here but my friemd known about it and he alway order chicken/shrimp dinner which comes with a drink as well. The food is really tasty. Unfortunately, something happened Friday March 19th that disturbed my peace. A woman returned food that she had not ordered she was given what she ordered. The food was accepted by the cashier he said something to the cooks and put it on the side table near the cooks. I had the fish combo which comes with fries, coleslaw, bread, and Kool-Aid for $9.99. You choose two of three items from fish, chicken, or shrimp. I had catfish and shrimp. I liked the seasoning and batter of the catfish. The shrimp may have been cooked at the same time in the same oil. The shrimp also tasted good but was slightly overcooked so the batter was a little hard. For dessert, I had a slice of coconut cake which I liked also but would have preferred more of a coconut taste. Just picked up my order of a catfish sandwich. So salty I could not eat and had to throw out, even after attempting to shake off some of the salt. Hadn't patronized this place since it first opened. Never, ever, ever will i go back to the " Southfield Chicken and Fish and Salt" The Crazy Crab, 5 doors down in the same mall, did thoroughly cook my catfish when i went there for the first time two weeks ago, and gave me a decent portion for the money. It's good and worth going to if you don't feel like driving to 13 Mi and Southfield. They have great specials, the family special is a really good price for the amount of food you get. Food is fast, good and the service is super friendly. They have daily specials so check out one of them when you go. There's a couple tables in case you want to dine in, but it's pretty much a carry out joint. Ask for extra lemon-pepper on your chicken, fish or fries. All in all it's a go. However, it was good enough to rate it 4 stars and tell you that if you don't feel like cooking or L'il Mama (or Big Mama) is busy, you can get some satisfaction here and for a decent price.
