Here from California again and we had to make a pit stop here. Everything, is served buffet style by the servers. They also have a full bar. This place is perfect for families, church gatherings, date night, and more. Plus, they play great music. We came on a Saturday afternoon, and thankfully it wasn't crowded. We ordered the Turkey meatloaf, and their meals come with two sides. We also ordered the Turkey chops with the two sides, but we also ordered an extra side. Last, we ordered the catfish dinner. Everything, was delicious. We asked for water with lemon. I came in with my own bottle of water, but was told it was a no-no. It is always crowded with customers and today they were fully staffed and were stepping and walking and running around in a circle! Because the one lady that keeps things running smoothly was not there. Anyhoo, I ordered the catfish, the cabbage and Black Eyed Peas without rice and eating in! The Young man at the check-in set my table up and advised me to get in the line which was down to the cashier but was moving right along! When it was my turn, I told the Young Lady I wanted catfish cabbage and Black Eyed Peas with no rice No rice! Someone carried my tray to my table for me and of course they gave me rice! First, let's start by saying this is not really a buffet in the traditional sense of the word. It's more like a cafeteria style set up. You walk in and select your food from a glass case and pay at the end of the line. There is a menu with a few additional items available for ordering. They specialize in smoked turkey legs served plain or with a variety of toppings. There is a dining room with tables and booths along with bar seating. The bar has a separate menu and the food is prepared fresh to order. The food is hit or miss with mostly hits for me. A few times it looked as if it's been in the warmer for a bit too long for my taste. There are several rotating specials on various days of the week. The lunch specials are competitively priced with the only drawback being that a beer is included and it seems like few people including me rarely drink beer at lunch, especially if you're taking a break from work. They have one of the best happy hours in the area with a great selection of unique items with nice portions all priced at $7 each. The service is friendly, attentive and consistent. I had Lily maes last year and it was fantastic. The Mac and cheese was wonderful and it was all over TikTok. I had it more recently and it was pretty subpar. I almost wondered if my taste buds were OK so I tasted something that I have at home to make sure it wasn't just me and the noodles in the Mac and cheese were overcooked the cheese itself seemed bland. I don't know where the flavour went in this food but yes in fact I did check my taste buds to make sure it wasn't me. I don't know why this place has only 3 stars. We ate inside the restaurant. We were seated right away. The staff were so helpful, attentive, and friendly. The establishment was clean. My friend and I went to Lillie Mae's for happy hour. This was my first time here. We were asked to wait even though several tables were open. Once seated, our waitress was friendly, kind, and respectful, but service was very slow. Drinks took several minutes, and our food took over an hour to arrive. The catfish nuggets were good, but the wings, loaded potatoes, and fried green tomatoes were just average. The real issue came with the bill. The waitress brought the handheld card reader, showed me the screen, and read off our items but never mentioned that a 20% service fee was already included. I then tipped another 20% without realizing it. The fee was not disclosed or printed anywhere, and I was not given a paper receipt. When I asked about it, both the waitress and manager were kind and professional, not argumentative, and tried to help after some back and forth. However, I was told a refund couldn't be issued. The waitress eventually gave me cash from her tips to resolve the issue. The manager apologized and offered us a drink, which I appreciated. Still, the experience left a bad taste in my mouth. Customers should be informed that a 20% gratuity is automatically added to every bill, regardless of party size, especially when no printed receipt is provided. This seems intentionally deceptive. before i begin... i don't know if this is exclusive to ordering carryout at the bar, which was the only option offered to me, there was a 20% gratuity on my bill... let that sink in sigh... after reading the reviews, i decided to go. I had to settle for Fried wings, macaroni and cheese and greens. Fried wings: they were decent. a basic crispy fried wing. I am sure that this was a result of me being there after 8:00 when they close at 10:00 but on the drive home, the food smelled like old grease. it did not TASTE that way because i would have taken it back. I pulled over to try the chicken as the smell worried me. The wings were a 3 out of 5 Macaroni- I make good mac but since I did not feel like making any, this will do. It was not bad. Nothing special but not offensive. i would give it a 3.5 out of 5 collards- I been eating greens over 40 years and been cooking them myself 25 years and NEVER .... EVER have i been served sweet greens at anybody's house...not in Alabama...not in New Orleans...definitely not in Detroit. I will never order these again as they were offensive. i would give them a 0 out of 5 I do admittedly have a chip on my shoulder as the fact that i could not communicate with anyone before hand and the fact that the menu changed as basically the buffet closes at 8:00 had me driving to get what i did not want. New restaurant experience for me & it was great. Greeted by employees upon entry as new food was being swapped in the service area. The service area was stainless steel & very very clean gotta love that. The turkey legs here fall off the muthafucking bone. My homie got the creole turkey leg with red beans & rice & a side of catfish. I got the soul leg with dressing and macaroni. After we paid it was no one to help us as it comes to seating but someone came very quickly as we took our seats and they assisted quickly with take home goods and bowls. So I initially was confused about the concept of this restaurant. It's not a buffet as I thought. You come in and you're seated at a table by the hostess. They give you a menu and you choose what you'd like, then you go up to the counter to place your order and pay. It's cafeteria style, but make sure you know what you want before you get in line so you don't hold up the line. The lady was help from answering questions about the menu though. They give a cup and you get your drink from the fountain. They have a lot of options but I ended up getting the catfish and grits which was good. My catfish was well seasoned and fried to perfection. The grits were good, I just needed to add some salt for taste. I added some shrimp which was seasoned very well. I overall enjoyed my meal. They have a $15 Turkey leg deal on Wednesdays if you want to save some coins. I want to come back and try that. Service at the counter was good but non existent at my table. This is a very nice restaurant it is clean and neat. We did dine in and It's a buffet style restaurant where the the food is already done and they prepare the food on the plate for you and serve it to you. Everything was good the food tasted pretty good I just wish the collards had a little more flavor. I have no other complaints. The service was good, the host sat us right away and then we were able to walk up to the food counter and told them what we would like and they served us right away.
