Love it! Loved the advice how to alter my dress. It came out very beatiful but a bit tighter than I'd have liked.

I recently brought a bridesmaid dress here to be taken in and shortened and I was appalled ant the shoddy work. When I went to pick up the dress the first time, it was still far too big, so they said they would fix it. When I came back to pick it up, they charged me an additional $20 to fix their mistake! Not only that, but once I got the dress home, I realized it had some stains at the bottom that were definitely not there when I dropped the dress off. After 5 shirts that were tailored too tight around the chest and too short in the sleeves, I finally learned what to tell them (and found a shirt that fit to show them how) to tailor my shirts correctly. A good tailor would have know from the beginning. It may take you a while to understand how to direct them but they'll get there. read more

I brought a gown here about 2 weeks ago, I needed the hem taken up before an event. They took measurements at the shop and seemed professional. My altered garment was ready 2 days before the event, which is when I picked it up. I paid $50 for this "service" but I'm pretty sure they didn't touch my dress. I didn't have time at that point to bring it back or take it somewhere else. But unfortunately my dress was dragging on the floor the entire night and I tripped over it more than once. These guys are the best! I've taken several items to them and the outcome has been fantastic. They did alterations to my wedding tuxedo shirt and it fits like a glove! I've had numerous pants hemmed here, as well as the repair of leather computer case that was very badly ripped. They said they didn't know if they could fix the computer case but they'd try, and when they did you couldn't even tell it had been ripped. read more

I no longer go to DTLA very often so I've been looking for a closer tailor. These guys had a decent yelp review so I brought in two shirts and a template. They were unable to copy the template and nearly ruined my shirts, luckily I stopped them before the shirts couldn't be repaired. After nearly screwing up my shirts they tried to charge me $25/shirt. My normal guy fixed them for his normal price of $15/shirt. I would not trust this place with mens shirts and their prices are ridiculous. read more

Super bummed! I've been coming here for years and they always did a fine job. I came to pick up a dress today and the dress had been hemmed but not the lining, since I need it for an event I had to wait for them to correct the error. The powder marking had stained the hemline of my dress. Also, we discussed an alteration to the shoulder that was not done. I'm disappointed. They still charged me the same amount... they received their full payment, unfortunately, they lost my business. read more

I came here on a recommendation of my impeccably dressed Sweetheart. I have an upcoming wedding, my daughter's, and needed a off-the-rack purchased formal gown altered. Immediately I was greeted by a most personable seamstress/tailor. Her name is Lu. She and I discussed the venue, the time of day, how this gown needs to travel to Cancun and showing off the best of the dress and its occupant, that being me, a woman of grand years! I love the plan Lu has for creating the most stunning presence in the gown. I feel very confident and pleased. I offered to pay her a deposit and she replied, "no because you're going to love the dress and you'll be coming to me as a regular customer". I like her confidence in her expertise. Her eye for detail is spot-on and she explains the reasoning behind her recommendations. I return in one week for a final fitting. The wedding is December 5th, the last day of a week-long stay. My remaining concern is that I still fit the gown after Thanksgiving and a week of resort indulgences!! Ahh, such challenges to have, I know, I know! i've been going to this same tailor for years, they almost always do an incredible job. and great service! but last time i took a dress there to have shortened, i noticed the hem was crooked. when i brought it home to match the two sides, it was incredibly off. so i brought it back to have it fixed. they were really nice about it, but still not perfect when i got it back the second time. i might have to start looking elsewhere. read more

Manhattan Express Tailor is the BEST tailor ever! They are amazing! Work is always absolutely perfect! They make all my clothes fit so much better! I am shocked at the terrible work these people do and are still in business. They've ruined a top and pair of pants with their unskilled work. YES they will get your tailoring back quickly but beware that the quality will be awful. They're nice about it but it doesn't replace your clothes. Don't bring anything to them you're too attached to since it might be going to goodwill. The previous owners did a much better job than the 2 sisters who run it. I' not going to say they've ruined all I've brought them but 2 errors is too much for me. Today I brought a pair of jeans they'd hemmed to another tailor to let them down and he couldn't believe they didn't leave anything extra in the hem to do so. I love this place. I try to go when the owner is there so she can mark where the alterations need to be done. I had my wedding gown shortened after the wedding, and they did a great job (3 layers, plus lace on top), and I had them turn the excess material into a pillow which was just okay looking. I've had jeans hemmed, dresses altered, and my husband had his wedding suit fitted there and it was perfect. read more
