I've been to this place twice now and it has so far ticked all the boxes, and is up there as one of the best NY style pizza places in North County. Firstly - the pizza. The crust is an appropriate thickness with good elasticity and bite. The sauce has a robust flavor and the cheese is more than acceptable. They are also generous with the toppings without overcrowding the pizza. One minor criticism is that the oven could be slightly hotter to ensure the toppings are slightly more charred when the bottom is at a perfect doneness. Secondly - this place has very friendly and accommodating staff. They have been spot on with all special requests for half-n-half toppings. Overall, I would definitely recommend Manhattan Giant for anyone looking for a pretty authentic NY style pizza (though ior just something a step above the usual chain stores. Update: One additional comment - when you order just a slice they heat up a cheese slice and add toppings you order. It's still good but This results in slightly undercooked toppings on the reheated slice. So, order a full pie whenever possible. read more

The pizza is good and at a decent price. DO NOT order for delivery through Yelp! We ordered ahead of time for a party, with delivery at 7:15PM. At 7:34 I called the restaurant to ask where the order was. They said the driver had picked it up and would be at our house within 10 minutes. At 7:55PM, they finally arrived with cold pizza. When I told the Grubhub delivery guy that we ordered it for 7:15, all he did was giggle. No apology. Nothing other than laughter. I will not be ordering through Yelp or Gurbhub ever again. My husband and I went here. We walked in and saw that it was clean. They were helping one person in front of us. There were a few people in the kitchen that we could see. 3 females in the front. One seemed overwhelmed and like she was getting mad at one of the other females, rolling her eyes and taking phone orders and being negative. The other female was going between cashier and kitchen And the last female was taking everyone's orders. It got busy at that time. There was only 1 cash register. I asked if I could get a combo ot was 1 piece of pizza, and a drink. I asked instead of the drink may I have 2 slices. They said no and I said okay just one slice and that's all. Then I stepped to the side so my husband could order. With an attitude in the females voice, " so she doesn't want a drink". I dont plan on going back any time soon. Dont deserve rudeness. read more

I've had 3 different slices now and each one is the same basic slice but added pepperoni or added meatball or added Canadian bacon & pineapple. They take a slice of cheese pizza and just add the topping. Well the slice is huge but not enough sauce or cheese and then reheating it with the added topping makes it more dry and less tasty. Plus the toppings want to just roll off because they are not totally baked into the cheese etc. So no more slices for me. I will have to try a pizza fresh baked next time. Too bad. Had multiple people recommend this place since it moved from Encinitas and moved into our neighborhood. Can't say it will go on our recommended list anytime soon. They were breaking in some new help at the counter who really struggled with our order - one large pizza. I didn't mind that as much as the fact that after they figure out their mistake (they undercharged us for $3), they didn't bother starting the order meant we sat there for an extra 15 mins with two hungry kids. Crazy good pizza would have wiped this mistake out. Instead it was decent at best. Pizza was heavy on cheese and grease and light on flavor. As a Brooklyn resident and native having recently moved to California this year, I have struggled to find good NYC pizza out here these past few months. Everyone told me to give up searching and just settle for tacos instead because pizza and SD don't mix. After trying this place, I'm thinking everyone was right! The name may say Manhattan but there's absolutely nothing Manhattan about this pizza. It literally tasted like the 99 cent slices you'd find in some parts of NYC so maybe that's what they're going for? But it really was a disservice to anyone looking for a true NYC pizza experience like John's on Bleeker, Ben's Pizza, Lucali or DiFara. Ordered a large plain pie last night - it was delivered quick and hot, hence the two stars. It's also a fair deal compared to some of the other pizzeria prices. But the dough was soft/chewy, not crispy like a NYC pie should be. The cheese was oily and bland so it's not a top shelf product. The sauce was lacking flavor and didn't taste like San Marzano tomatoes. Also ordered the chicken parmigiana hero which had a soft roll instead of being served on a baked, crispy hero bread. I will continue the search but after about 4 different pizzerias in the area have let me down, I may start ordering fish tacos from now on... read more

This is good pizza. Now that the pandemic has given me some free time, figured I would think back to places I need to review and of course, MGP comes to mind. I am from New York and have eaten more than my family's body weight in slices. Everything from Johns to DiFara's and so I need certain parts of my pie buds to be summoned. No lie, this place does it. I ordered their plain large pie, and I killed it in one sitting. No I didn't have any edibles. No I didn't go out before and have drink munchies. It was a regular day, and I had BF, Lunch and snacks. So safe to say, this is great pizza. Only issue for me is the drive out to San marcos and back to Encinitas to enjoy this thing nice and warm. Super friendly employees and great views of the surrounding area from the various windows inside the restaurant. All of our items were tasty (meatball sandwich, meat lasagna, and veggie pizza). Great pizza joint in the San Elijo neighborhood. Their menu is simple/ straightforward and they offer delicious pizza for a great price. Star rating can vary 4 - 3. Most of the time, the pizza is very enjoyable. Other times, it can be so/so or blah. Our last pizza order - 16" sausage was disappointing. The crust was bland tasted like flour and water, could have had more cheese, only three or four small round pieces of sausage on each slice. Know times are tough but must be careful about the quality. Perhaps it may be who makes the pizza that causes inconsistent quality. Been going to Manhattan Pizza when in Encinitas and now in San Marcos. Nice family owned business. read more
