I've had a smaller unit for some time now, but needed to upgrade to a larger unit. So, after reserving a unit online and getting a call from Zachary in the business office, I went over to MMS on 62nd, and worked with Andrea and her junior colleague, Sangita. They are lovely, very well-mannered young women. Anyway, Andrea was most professional, personable and highly capable. I'll add that I did not make it easy because I returned today because I had changed my mind and wanted an even larger unit. Again, the transfer was seamless. Kudos to MMS for having such wonderful staff. I have several lockers at the 107th St. location. This morning, I went to take a bunch of boxes out and arranged for a storage taxi to pick me up there. I thought my reservation was for today, but I screwed up; it was for tomorrow. The dispatcher was extremely kind and fit me in so I didn't have to lug 30 boxes back to my locker and do it all over again tomorrow. Because I'm now retired, and the unit got too expensive for me after I realize that most of it was my daughter's from years ago and she has no interest in keeping. I don't have a car so I was going to walk a mile and a half from 61st Street to 93rd Street, I picked a nice day because I don't mind walking and I figured I'll just get rid of a little at a time, but when I got there Christine advised me that they had a shuttle service and the last one was leaving in 45 minutes. I raced to get my boxes out of the storage unit, the driver Bentley was kind enough to wait 10 minutes for me and then loaded the nine boxes into the van and drove me home. He then waited while I got a cart from my building, put three boxes at a time on the cart so I can push it into my Lobby. He was kind and patient. They over charge you. They never have the rooms at the advertised rate available--the price is usually 2 to 3 times. They say they will credit you $1 for switching to paying with a checking account but they never do. They then increase your rate 10% to 15% each year even though the rate you were charged is still being advertised. read more

I think this is an excellent storage place that is the smartest storage facility I have ever seen. There are numerous dollies to use that also have different shapes to be able to help move different things easier in and out of your storage unit. For example, there is one that is good for bed frames and one that has a hanger for clothes on hangers. It makes everything easier, much faster, and safer for your things, which is something that I have never seen in any other storage facility. Everything is maintained and the carts all work, and the ground is smooth, which is also something that is better than any other place I've been to before. The place is kept very clean thanks to the very nice and friendly janitorial staff that is always on duty. There is a very sophisticated security system that makes you feel good that your possessions are safe and is more advanced than anywhere I've ever been to before. There is free parking inside their building when you enter to load and unload. There is also free coffee, tea, or hot water, and the tea and coffee is made fresh in a kruig-like machine, and a clean, well working bathroom. This location is also on the road that enters on to FDR North bound, which can be nice when you leave. The lobby is also very spacious. The people who work at the front desk are also really helpful and nice to see. Bibi is especially nice and helpful. She also does a good job of clearly presenting your storage options for you to make up your own mind. The young guy Al who works at night time is also very sharp. The other two girls are good too. You pay a bit, but I would say it is well worth it. They really have storage figured out, and they make it as easy as they can. You also have 24 hour access, which I would demand no matter what. It was also near to where I used to live, which made moving easier too and saved me time. My storage units are also in a warm temperature controlled environment, even in winter, which makes my things safe from the environment and much nicer to get at rather than trying to dig through things in the freezing cold. So I recommend this storage place. It's worth it. You really get what you pay for. read more

I like their products...but..I am trying to find out how their dishes box are, how many glasses can fit, are the glasses compartments well separated by cardboards,..? It doesn't show online and it is impossible to reach to a customer service over the phone. I am moving a 4 bedroom apartment... I've had two storage units at this facility for a number of years and then recently something came up in my life which caused me to need an extra unit. I never had any problems with MMS over the years and its very convenient to my home so I opted to get a unit here again. I was able to obtain one at fairly short notice and arranged a free curb-side pickup. Even though I was told that no one would be helping me load my stuff into the van, the driver Alex actually did help me and I was really grateful as I am a small girl with a bad back! He and his driving companion (a woman whose name I forgot) were both really nice! Everyone at the desk were all really nice too. I kind of drove them crazy because I wanted a unit that was nearby to my other two but not a second-tiered one and etc etc. Also I am very disorganized and couldnt find my ID in order to sign the paperwork and also I kept bugging them for water, etc but throughout the whole time they were just real nice, patient and accommodating. I want to give an extra special shout out to Isamar, Franklin and Al-John! Things I like about MMS: they are open 24-hrs, the bathrooms are clean, they give you free bottled water. What I dont like: The office closes at 10pm (thus so do the bathrooms!), the water bottles have shrunk over the years from a real-sized bottle down to a puny one (3 swallows and done!), and it's temp-controlled which means it gets seriously freezing up there in the storage unit area! Oh yeah, they keep raising my prices for my units and I'm really unhappy about this. Soon I will not be able to afford them anymore. read more

I've used Manhattan Mini storage facilities for years, renting at a variety of their locations- However, the upper east side location is by far the nicest and cleanest of all. Of course, there are always some great employees that standout at each location. Jasmar specifically does a great job of lending a hand and saying hi to you by name! I have nothing but good things to say about the people on 62nd. There is also ample parking with and more than one elevator at this location which are also pluses. read more

So let me give you the finale . . . i moved on Monday. I had everything prepped so that I could do the physical move to Manhattan Mini Storage within the the 2 hours "free curbside to curbside move" promotion. Well -- we did it! I did have everything on the curb for when OWEN REILL the mover arrived. Still, Owen was great . . . he started calling early on to alert me to when he would be there. He helped with the putting of my stuff into van. He drove within the limits of safety to get us there . . . Oh, he knows his way around NY and that helps when you're on a time deadline. Basically he wasn't trying to pad the time, he was doing his job and in that's refreshing. BOTTOM LINE -- I moved into a warehouse space in NYC and I did not pay for the move. Back at the warehouse . . . I have used warehouses for as long as I can remember, and all in all it's not a picnic. Manhattan Mini must have studied all those warehouse annoyances to make for a better experience overall. So thank you -- you guys made it easy for me to put a move together that was unexpectedly thrown my way when my roommate out of the blue told me he wanted the apt back. I've been with MMS for more than 20 years...first in Chelsea (two simul units) and for the past several years at the 62nd St location. For a long time they were the only game in town and my experience has, until recently, been mostly pleasant. Every year my rent is raised considerably and it's becoming more and more difficult to justify when there are other options. I recently considered changing MMS locations as a way to decrease my costs a bit, which prompted me to visit the website where I quickly discovered rooms at my current location--in the same size as the one I've been renting for years--were significantly cheaper. So I called my location to ask if I could get a cheaper room. (BTW, this is not about cheaper rates for top level vs lower level as I'm already on a top level so my unit should, ostensibly, already be cheaper.) I was told no, that the cheaper rates were only for new customers. I explained that I'd been a MMS customer for close to two decades and that it sounded like they valued new customers more than their long term customers. The man on the phone (whose name I've written down somewhere) agreed that was the case. I then asked point blank: "So you're telling me you value new customers more than long term customers that have given you business for years?" His answer? "Yes." And then they raised my rent again. I tried to call Roosevelt (the man told me I should call him if I had an issue), but he never seemed to be available. I was planning to move out this month. Then I threw my back out and probably won't get out now until later this summer. I gave two stars because most of my time with MMS has been reasonable and the team in Chelsea was always helpful and considerate. 62nd Street, however, not so much. read more

Manhattan Mini Storage Review. I had for the most part a pretty good experience storing my belongings at the storage facility located on East 62nd St. For the most part because while it could have been perfect it wasn't. Two incidents of pure dishonesty occurred while I was storing my belongings. The first incident occurred during my first month at the 62nd St. storage. Francisco was the employee who set up my account. He calculated how much I had to pay, first month and move in cost, which I did. Little did I know that Francisco had miscalculated my total. The next month when I came in to pay I was surprised to hear that I had an outstanding balance with interest. I understand that we all make mistakes but what happened next was absolutely unprofessional. Francisco blamed me for his miscalculation. He said that I did not paid the entire amount last month. Which was absolutely false. Not only did I have to pay interest but I now had bad record only one month in. Now, I do not know what kind of work history Francisco had at that time. It is possible that he was one mistake away from being fired but still I'm sure that Manhattan Mini Storage does not encourage their employees to act in an dishonest manner and not admit to their mistakes. Thankfully,Francisco was transferred to another facility, hopefully he will not continue to act in such a dishonest manner. The second incident occurred after hurricane Sandy. I was out of town so I had to mail in my payment which I did two weeks before the hurricane and ahead of my due date. I know that certain areas of the city were severely affected by the storm but the Upper East Side was not one of them. Still I waited a few days after the storm to call in to see if my payment had arrived,just in case. When I called I was told that my payment had not arrived yet. I was not surprised considering what had just happened. So I waited a few more days to call back, again my payment had not arrived. I did not, of course, send my payment in an envelope with a stamp. I sent it certified. So after my second phone call I went to the post office to inquire as to where my payment had gone. Well it turns out that my payment had arrived before the hurricane. So I called the storage a third time and yet again they said that my payment had not arrived. By this time travel to the city was possible so I went to the storage facility, inquired as to where my payment was. At first the employee and the manager who was also there tried to act as if she did not know what I was talking about but once I showed the printout from the post office which clearly stated that my payment had arrived she did a quick search and "found" my payment. They applied my payment to my account and while they were very apologetic,they were also very nervous. They said that I had a misspelled my name on my payment thus confusing them as to which account the payment was for but when I showed them the copy of my payment which I had bought with me that clearly showed that not only did I spell my name correctly but I had also, as I always do,wrote my account number on my payment. Something else was clearly going on. Apart from that I had a semi satisfactory experience storing my belongings with Manhattan Mini Storage. In light of what I experienced I would tell anyone interested in storing with Manhattan Mini Storage to be very careful when it comes to trusting the employees especially with money. The facilities were excellent but those three employees cast Manhattan Mini Storage in a very bad light. What can one think of a company that has not one but three dishonest employees. read more

This is the best storage facility in NYC. It's new, clean, temperature controlled, easy to get to and easy to access your items and the staff is helpful and they have a great free van service and the prices are reasonable. I first came to this facility when I was a pharmaceutical sales rep and needed a temperature controlled place to store my sample medications. Many pharma reps store at this facility. It was a great alternative to keeping boxes of medications and brochures in my apartment. I then used this facility when I was between apartments and needed to store clothes and shoes and important documents that I could access regularly, important papers I didn't feel comfortable keeping in my hotel room with me. I was in and out like superman changing outfits in a phone booth and even joked to the staff that I should perhaps just live there in the meantime because they're so accommodating and make things easy on customers with little things like free wifi, coffee, seating area, all came in handy when I was away from my hotel and needing to make business calls (in between outfit changes lol) read more

Not only is this a fabulous facility (clean, safe, bright, convenient, climate controlled and even economical!) - it has the NICEST STAFF I have ever experienced in my life. Absolutely superior customer service. I arrived there tears with a giant truck and very surly movers after my (former) friend "forgot" to ask her super if I could store my things in her (large) storage unit in bldg basement. I had NOWHERE to go. I"m not sure with whom I spoke that day, but - I got a GREAT unit (surprisingly large and economical - this is midtown, Manhattan after all - compared to my SF storage unit, major bargain!!) Everyone there has been great - professional, kind, considerate; my primary point of contact the past couple years (I move back and forth) has been Carlos Taylor -- this man deserves a medal. I couldn't ask for better customer service - he truly goes above and beyond. Sadly (I say this selfishly! my hope is he was promoted as he deserves!), he has been transferred to a different facility, but - as I said, everyone there has always been extremely nice, reasonable, helpful.
