We got a text from Oscar 30 min before our 10am meeting time telling us where to meet him, conveniently across the street from our hotel. He was easy to find despite all the other carriage drivers. It was the most gorgeous day in NYC so this couldn't been timed more perfectly. The carriage was plenty spacious for our party of 3 (would have been fine for 4 or 5 if had kids). We stopped for a few pictures and Oscar pointed out some highlights including where movies were filmed. He also showed us a fountain where other carriage drivers were telling their riders that it was the fountain from friends but he said he couldn't lie to us. ;). And we even got to feed Oscar's lovely horse strawberry some carrots. 45 min later our 50 min carriage ride came to an end. As soon as we paid Oscar he left us quickly in search of his next ride. Again no need to book this experience ahead of time, but if you want to plan ahead you'll be in good hands with Oscar and his horse, strawberry.

Thank goodness the NYC Ferry continues to service rides to Rockaway Beach since I wouldn't take…read morethe MTA. Besides, it's a gorgeous, scenic ride about 50 minutes from Pier 11 /Wall Street. A recent trip ($4.50 one way) to Rockaway Beach, long lines included was hassle free and enjoyable especially on a gorgeous summer day. But the ferry isn't perfect. On a few occasions, they're known for not sticking to the time schedule. This happened yesterday. Aiming for the 5:57 PM vessel to NYC, the ferry boarded all passengers and took off at 5:36! We were lucky to arrive earlier. Overall, the NYC Ferry offers rides around Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan and I think Throg's Neck (check destinations on schedule). Great alternative to the subway.

An annual ride in late summer. Probably one of the few century ride held in urban areas. You can't…read moremiss this close to flat ride covering most NYC landmarks! Pros: 1. Scenic views/routes; 2. Although it's labeled as century ride, you can choose from as short as 15 miles, 60 miles, and 100 miles; 3. Plenty of rest stops with water/energy drink refills and foods; 4. Really flat. Cons: 1. Expect traffic lights and bad road condition (not close road race; you have to walk on the bridges); 2. Easy to get lost as the marks are hard to notice if you are not paying close attention. (Light yellow marks at the intersections); 3. The trip takes too LONG and too much time. A lot of traffic lights (so expect a lot of clip-on and unclip). Overall, it was fun!! Rode to many great places that I never been to before. A great way to tour the city but be careful as the road condition is not consistent.

Rather plenty! I just chased them, though I never caught up with the daredevils, but they made me compete my first 100 miles! This was on on a Cannondale Hybrid Quick CX4 bought with cash over Craigslist! ...after 2 years of riding I was ready for a full carbon bike, spent shit loads of money and got one in 2016. The Cannondale Synapse is name Green machine, yep cause its green in color!!!!! So, in Sept 2016, i rode the 2nd time! The 27th NYC Century on the Green Machine, it was an epic feeling with a carbon frame vs an Aluminum one. But- I was still searching for those 2 chicks (sigh) ....so times passed by and as those 2 chicks became a distant memory- Transport Alternative (the cycling advocacy group in NYC) announced that 2019 ride (the 30th) would be the last. So 9/8/19, i did my last The 30th and Final NYC Century in the last attempt to FINALLY find those girls, but I just rode the ride with the memory of the ride downthe memory lane.... Good work Transport Alternatives for arranging 30 consequetive rides since 1990. Too bad its no more for you to experience!

If you're focusing on trying to capture and video the ride, it takes away from the actual ride. So my suggestion is if you ride just enjoy the ride with the person you're riding with and if you want to video it do it on the next ride because it is a 20 minute ride. But it's one of those that you know. Hate man. You just have to do especially doing holiday time around Central Park so go in a joy. It's not that expensive for New York City either

Upon…read morearrival in front of St. Patrick's Cathedral we were welcomed by an excellent tour guide Julien, our names were mentioned and Julian addressed us with our names throughout the tour which provided a very friendly and very welcoming atmosphere. The bus driver Levi was also very nice and friendly, (I had never met such a very friendly tour guide and bus driver compared to my previous guided tour experiences). After meeting at St. Patrick's we were dropped off at Grand Central Station took pictures and Julien took us to this hidden jewel, the Whispering Wall/gallery at the grand central terminal (in front of the oyster bar and restaurant). This was not part of the itinerary, and I appreciate how we were taken to this place. It was amazing how you can whisper into the wall and be heard by the person in another corner of the wall. We headed to the Empire State Building, where we were supposed to explore by ourselves but to our surprise, our tour guide Julien followed on the observation deck. He took very nice pictures (he is a pro) he knows where to take pictures and the right angles. We also had a delectable lunch and a nice ambiance at Paesano's in Little Italy. We boarded back to the shuttle where driver Levi patiently waited and this man had to drive around the area while waiting for us because they can't be parked in one spot for a while and had to share the parking to other shuttles/buses. We were taken to the Wall Street, Trinity Church and showed us the Alexander Hamilton's tomb. After that, we headed to the Statue of Liberty where Julien stayed with us the entire time and had an amazing time. He knew a lot of people including the securities, the workers etc. He knows what we need to do before heading to the security areas. He provided a great information about New York and we learned so much about the city in just 9 hours. He sounded like he had a sore throat on the day of our tour but that did not stop him from providing such a wonderful introduction and insight even he had to talk on top of his lungs. The last part of our tour was the 9/11 Memorial and Memorial Pools which was very emotional and touching experience. Lastly, my overall experience in this tour was wonderful. Before we departed Julien sang a song to us inside the shuttle the "New York, New York" by Frank Sinatra and we felt so special. I totally enjoyed my visit to New York because of tour guide Julian. He is a very hard working tour guide, does an excellent job!. He made sure we are all safe and no one gets lost in the tour. He even gave us souvenirs from the places we visited (postcards, etc.) Levi is a very good, safe, and patient driver. All respect for Julien who does an excellent job and also driver Levi. I would recommend this tour to my family and friends. Many many thanks to Julien and I totally recommend Julian to everyone who would like to visit New York.

We recently visited New York City and had a whirlwind tour with this company. Our tour guide,…read moreJulian, was the most amazing and engaging person I have ever met. He was so friendly, accommodating, funny, charismatic, and informative on everything New York. Our tour started off at St. Patrick's Cathedral and then progressed to the Empire State Building. At every point of interest, we were treated with fast access as VIPs. The Empire State Building was amazing and Julian got us in and out in quick fashion. We then went to Little Italy and a nice restaurant and canollies place in that area. The arrangements with the restaurant were great as the prices and food quality were good and the efficiency of getting us in and out in quick fashion was great. We then went to the Statue of Liberty where we bypassed a lot of the serpentine lines that circled that park area. However, the screening area was unavoidable and a bit of a delay as it was 45 minutes. Still Julian worked to make our entry as quick as possible and our time there valuable. Once getting onto Liberty Island, we went through a secondary screening area right at the statue and Julian gave us a lot of really neat information on the history of the Statue of Liberty. We then went to the 911 Memorial and the Oculus which was somber and enriching and Julian gave us keen insight on what the memorial park meant to him and shared a really touching personal story. I would recommend this tour company to family and friends as it is amazing. Try to request Julian as he is the most amazing human being I have met in quite some time. He made the entire experience quite memorable, informative, and fun.
