We came here after a long day at the Canyon, really craving a good Filipino buffet. We initially considered Nanay's (which had a lower rating), but decided to try this place instead because of the higher reviews. Unfortunately, it did not live up to expectations. Here's why this ended up being a one-star experience for us: They call themselves "Manila BBQ," but there was no barbecue available. They also advertise as a seafood grill, yet there were no seafood options during our visit. There's a $4 upcharge for lechon belly, but no other pork dishes were offered--no pork adobo, no lechon kawali. If you're charging extra for a premium item, there should at least be other standard pork options included. So instead of 20 dollars it was was $24 per person.  Drinks are not included in the $24 price. Overall, the food quality was mediocre and didn't justify the cost. There's an automatic service charge of 18% for a party of plus an additional 3% credit card fee. We don't mind paying more for good food and a satisfying experience, but this just didn't deliver. On top of the food, the service started off poorly. When we walked in, the worker was on the phone and didn't greet us at all. We were then told we couldn't sit at the reserved seating even though the restaurant was closing in 45 minutes. They eventually opened a table for us on the opposite side, which was only semi-packed. The buffet had a decent variety of Filipino dishes, and it's convenient if you want to try a little of everything without cooking. However, compared to the rich, flavorful home-cooked Filipino food I've enjoyed before, many items here felt watered down or not as well executed. The ginataang bilo bilo and pancit malabon with shrimp were the clear standouts and reminded me why I enjoy Filipino cuisine. We pretty much took half of the restaurant space because there were 15 of us. This place is an AYCE, but you can't waste food because they charge an extra $10. This restaurant was a disappointment. The name, Manila BBQ and Seafood Grill, is misleading because they didn't serve any BBQ, and none of the seafood was grilled. The only seafood options were fried bangus and fried tilapia. The food selection was very basic--similar to what you'd find at a typical turo-turo place. They did have cebuchon, but I believe there was an additional charge for it. For dessert, they only offered bilo-bilo. It was overly sweet, and I couldn't even taste the coconut milk. Another issue was the pricing. There were no prices posted at the counter. Instagram listed the buffet at $17.99, while other platforms showed $19.99. However, our bill came to $31.50 per person. We only drank water, paid in cash, and the only service provided was a pitcher of water on the table. I'm not sure what additional charges were added--possibly gratuity--but nothing was explained. The restaurant itself is also very small. Overall, the food and experience were just so-so and definitely not worth the price. Not only is this the last and most recent Filipino buffet that I have eaten it, but it is also the last and most recent Filipino buffet that I have enjoyed. I actually thoroughly enjoyed my breakfast here. They didn't have a crazy amount of food but the spread that they did have, everything was classic and just what I was hoping for. We had eggs, tocino, adobo, sinigang, pancit, longanisa hammonado, corned beef, fried rice w shrimp, etc. everything was so good. There was nothing crazy about the buffet. You simply prepaid for your meal and went ahead and helped yourself. The cooks and the ladies that I saw who were helping to maintain freshness and cleanliness as far as the food and everything, they were also friendly. They would check on his periodically to make sure we didn't need anything. They cleared our dishes very quickly. We didn't have to bust a single tray or a dish while we were there. The eggs were cooked so wonderfully, just running enough. They were not sitting or floating in hot water or oil like I've seen at other places. I would definitely come back here again. I do admit, we left our hotel fairly early, so I really have no idea how out of the way this place is from our hotel but even if the drive were a bit longer, I think this is somewhere that I would really try to come back to and enjoy it again. It's easier to finish and your food won't get as cold quickly. It also gives you the opportunity to try everything. That's another thing. Always try everything at buffets in small portions. When I walked in half of the food was already gone there was nobody inside there it was only 3:00 p.m. I asked is it 1799 they said no all the people online are not giving the current price it's $19.99 I said but your food is barely there they said well the cook is gone and we're going to close I said you don't close until after 5:00 p.m. they said yes but this is all the food we have I said this is exactly why I was trying to call you guys you didn't pick up the phone and you hung up on me. They said well you can take it to go I said take what to go you want me to buy this food when there's barely any food here. Small mom and pop shop with turo-turo (pick and point) take out food. They sell Filipino snacks, as well as drinks and other unique food items. Upon entering I was greeted by the shop keeper. Nothing extraordinary with taste and flavor, they were okay - most of them were oily. Dessert was Ginataang bilo-bilo. The turon was brought out a bit late. I tried it and it was oily and seemed like the oil used was already previously used to cook other dishes, and the banana was hard - I could not eat it. It was a to-go order, and I waited about 10-15 minutes, which is typical. The entire experience was great. However, when I got home, I was very disappointed. The combo already came with lumpia, so I ended up with two orders. But that's neither here nor there. The most disappointing part was the tiny BBQ chicken skewers that came with the meal. The entire dish was lackluster in terms of portion size, but the single skewer was smaller than my pinky finger, and I'm not exaggerating. This plate was good and better than the chicken inasal for me. The pork was tender, the lumpia was very crispy + tasty, and the pancit noodle was surprisingly soft. Recommend getting this plate if you come here. Chicken Inasal Special Promo ($4.49): This is like the Filipino version of Vietnamese ga roti. My husband loved it. Why...because of various posts showing pictures of different bbq's and seafood, so we went to try the many inviting dishes only to find a very different food selection. Posts may not even be real. There was 1 (one) seafood dish, a salmon soup dish, and nothing else. There was 1 (one) bbq dish, a Korean bbq that looked like leftover, because there were hardly any meat, but mostly bones. I say that's a really good deal especially if you love seafood. Some things to keep in mind when dining at Manila BBQ is the restaurant size is very small. Not a lot of room around the buffet area to grab food and tables are small as well. Besides the capacity issue, their food is still worth a try. I personally loved the buffet selections. Havent been here in a bit and management has changed. I feel the food has gotten better! Sadly lots of things unavailable the night we went but food was still super yummy. Love that they give you a big bowl of sinigang with the food! We had the chicken inasal, chicken and pork bbq, and bangsilog. My sister remembered not liking the java rice before but it was good this time. The owner was at the karaoke stage and singing some songs.
