I wish I can give no stars. Came here in the Summer 2021 & finally getting around to write this review. Lack of snack selection, they didn't have tamarind snack. I ordered a boba drink & the young cashier was rude & ended up making me the wrong drink & refused to fix it. She then asked the older workers & I'm assuming they were the owners a man & lady & they refused to fix my drink or refund me. Also this old lady with a cane was struggling getting cakes from the fridge & the young cashier girl didn't offer to help her, it's like she kept fetching the lady to go back & forth from fridge to find one she wanted. Please do not support this business. Couple months ago the lady that owns the business was disrespectful to me over the phone. I was politely put an order for Turons and specifically told her to make it the way I like them. She got offended and told me don't buy it because it's all burnt and hung up. Then I called her back and asked her why she hung up on me , her replied was " Because you're so stupid!". On Sunday November 21, 2021my son placed an order for $20 Turin to take it to his friendsgiving potluck and told a lady on the phone he will pick up at 2:30pm and she said it will be ready for him. so here's the thing: this place has amazing drinks! their honey lemon tea is one of my favorites. the sizes are huuuuge, especially for the cost. it's on the sweeter side of things, just how i like it. their halo halo is great and the ice is pretty smooth. their market side is usually very well organized and carried all my favorite filipino snacks. but i tried the palabok here and i was greatly disappointed. the palabok sauce was either scarcely on the noodles or the noodles just barely soaked it in. i didn't even finish it because without the sauce because it was super bland. i wish the food here was better because i really love the drinks. read more

This place has a huge variety of Filipino foods. I wish they had the price labels on them. For now I guess they only accept cash. The menu had all of the Filipino favorite dishes from adobo, pancit, and lumpia's. They also serve boba drinks and my favorite Filipino dessert halo halo. My mom and I shared the pancit palabok. It was okay. My mom said her recipe is better. Lol. The seating area is a little small with about 4 tables that sit 4 comfortably. The place was clean and 2 all gender bathrooms. After making a 3 hour drive from San Jose to Stockton (freakin' Traffic!) and rushing to our 15-minute picture-taking session, we needed a snack before making the drive back. I knew there were lots of Filipinos in Stockton, so we decided to see if we could find some Pinoy snacks. Halo Halo got rave reviews here, so we came to get our "mix-mix" fix. But, when we walked in, we noticed that this was no regular halo halo joint. Not only did they have halo halo, but they had many other desserts and snacks, including ice cream, slushies, milk shakes, bbq, siopao (pork buns), and siomai, to name a few. Now, let's start with that halo halo. It was good, but not great. I've had halo halo all over California and many more in The Philippines. While not traditional in terms of what people know as Halo Halo, my favorite is Razon's in PI. The siomai was decent, but I would skip the siopao the next time. It was severely lacking in flavor. Even with sauce. Now, because I wanted to get the flavor out of my mouth, I ordered some Turon to-go. Good thing I did, because this was my favorite. It was fresh and warm and the exterior was perfectly crunchy (albeit a tad too oily) and the banana was perfectly sweet. I've probably had 50 different turon in my life and this is probably in my top 10. Besides the food, they have a ton of snacks reminiscent of one's childhood in The Philippines. The selection is enormous as I've seen many varieties that I haven't seen in the local Seafood City or Island Pacific. Ordered a Thai tea (snow) and ended up receiving a Thai tea (non snow) drink back. I promptly returned it back to get it redone and received it within less than 2 min which was nice but I got it back and it tasted like plastic instead of Thai tea, not sweet and rather bitter. So then I had to get a new Thai tea drink the THIRD time and got it without snow hoping it would legitimately taste better and it did but it had no ice in it...I have never had an issue like this before but today just had to be the day, I don't want to be so harsh on my rating only because I come here often and I actually enjoy their food. As a reminder next time i'd enjoy if they'd actually put their time and effort into their drinks. Considering this employee seems new I'm sure that was most likely the issue. read more

Recently called this store on New Year's Eve around 5pm to see if they had any fried bananas and one gentleman said that I needed to go there to see if there is any. He simply couldn't give me an answer. With a very rude tone of voice and said he didn't know and if I wanted it I needed to go there. My sister called a few mins after me and spoke with a gentleman that said they had some but he hesitated to answer me and there was a slight pause then he hung up. So I decided to call again and lady picked up and she said they didn't have any. To my understanding they were closing early, they could of simply said that they were closing soon instead of picking up the phone and lying and being rude. Customer service is important and if you don't have that then you have no business serving people. Very disappointing. Food is good but lacks customer service. read more

I would give zero stars if I was able to. This place is a hot mess. Not only did people cut in front of me in line at the register, but then they paid with silver half dollars and the cashier didn't even know what it was. After waiting in line for quite a long time I placed an order for them to tell me they don't have that. Then take it off the damn menu? Or post some thing I have limited time on my lunch break and it was completely wasted on this place. This is not my first experience at this establishment as well. The last three times I have gone in they have either not had the items or gave me skimpy amounts of the items. The lumpia taste like it's frozen, not fresh, and most of the time it is fried to oblivion, it's convenient because I work right across the street but at this point I will not be returning it is an insult to Filipino food. Manila Express & Karaoke on West Ln in Stockton, California. After dinner tonight with my tribe. We were heading to get some ice cream at Cold Stone. But the kids wanted to mix things up a bit. I remembered my friend *Chris H* telling me about Halo halo. So I did a yelp search and found this place. Thank you Chris H. I showed the kids the yelp pictures and our journey began. We arrived and the place was pretty bright and they had some techno or trance music playing in the background. The older gentlemen that works there was grooving to the music while he was cleaning the shop. This is my type of spot :) Dude is really nice and cool. The front counter girl was very helpful, I didn't get her name but I did like her bandana she was wearing. The kids ended up ordering some ice cream single scoop for $1.99 each and I got the Halo halo for $3.95. I didn't know how to eat it so thew front counter girl told me I need to crush it up amd swirl it around. I was given a straw and a spoon. My kids had a blast playing around with the Halo halo. So when it was finally mixed up I tried it. I started to drink it then as the pearls inside started to go up the straw all eyes were on me. They all wanted to try Halo halo as they were finishing up their ice cream. They did enjoy the ice cream here too. They sell chips galore up in here and all types of munchies. The pork buns caught my eyes 4 buns for $6 and the banana chips caught my youngest daughter's eye. My other two were just scanning thier menu on what to try on our next visit. On our next visit I want to sit outside on their little patio. Great customer service tonight by the two that were working tonight. My children had a wonderful time and that's all that matters to me. 2 words UBE SHAKE!!! Or taro for non Filipinos, satisfied my nostalgic taste buds. The shake was creamy and delicious with pieces of actual ube in it. Usually when I get taro shake here in nj/ny area it's not real taro it's the powdered kind covered up with lots of cream. Always leaving me disappointed. I wish we has this place here in jersey so I can just get my taro shake fix anytime I want. This place is also filled with Filipino snakes and pastries...just a stop shop for sweet goodness. Halo-halo! Really? Awesome! I'm in. I've seen some very simple versions of halo-halo at other places. However, Manila Express make their halo-halo as decadent cooling desserts with all sorts of tasty fillings, shaved ice, and two flavors of your choice ice cream. Yum! For aesthetics there's not much to say positive about the atmosphere or decor. There's limited indoor seating, a really loud display refrigerator for the pre-packed ice cream/ice cream cakes, and many stacks of over stock boxes in plain sight. The pleasant personalities of the employees with great customer service goes a long, long way to make up for appearance of the shop. Even though there were many people to serve, they delivered with smiles and quick efficiency. It does appear to take the one-stop-shop concept to the extreme; and, believe it or not, it really works. The only place in town (that I am aware of) that sells Filipino ice cream by the scoop. I LOVE Manila Express. I crave it all the time. You can easily ask them to make you a shake out of their ice creams and sometimes if you ask they will make it fresh too. For example, you can ask for an avocado shake made from ice cream OR you can ask them to make it out of fresh avocado. Add some boba and you're all set! Want a cold dessert that's even more Filipino? Get yourself a Halo-Halo here. Their halo halo is better than the halo halo at the Jollibee next door. Trust me. All their Filipino ice cream is Magnolia brand (AKA the best Filipino ice cream brand). My favorite ice cream flavors are buko salad, ube, mango, buko pandan, Thai tea, basically all of 'em. Did you like the ice cream so much you want to take it home? No problem. They sell Magnolia brand ice cream by the tub. Tubs are 3 for $21 which is a steal because everywhere else, a tub of Magnolia brand ice cream is $8-9 and up. In addition to Filipino ice cream, they sell American ice cream, finger foods (popcorn chicken), Filipino snacks (turon, chips, candy, Goldilocks brand goodies), cake, and even Balikbayan boxes! Now that Jollibee is gone, which was next door and closed down around Christmas time, Manila Sunset has offerings that make up for their absence. They don't have spaghetti or burgers, but there are rice combo meals for a decent price including bangus, tinapang, and sisig for those hardcore Filipino cravings and the main staples like longanisa and tocino with lumpia. Lollicup was closed on Black Friday and I still wanted some bubs. I checked Yelp and found this place and it was just what I was looking for! The coconut milk tea was just sweet enough (sweet but not unbearably so) and there were real coconut bits in it. I'm a sucker for mini boba so I got mixed boba (regular and mini) and it was perfect. One day maybe places in Oregon will have mini boba, but in the mean time it's a special treat when visiting friends in CA. Additionally, the girl working here was a total sweetheart and the halo halo looked amazing. If I lived closer or had way more room for super perishable sweets, I would have tried that too.
