She always looks like she's in a bad mood, she's short with you when taking orders and God forbid you call her out for taking your order wrong or you'll get an even worse attitude. My favorite local taco shop with my fav horchata and surf & turf burrito!!! (Note this review is for their taco/burrito storefront with "La Taqueria" sign up top; they own the El Frutal dessert storefront for churros and desserts a few stores down) Not only is it next to my gym so I am always lured in when I am at max hunger, but this place deserves 4.5 stars from me for being the most consistent spot when I need a bit + 0.5 stars just for having friendly people working at the counter. Basically all the tacos are delicious, but their lengua tacos in particular are super tender. Recently I discovered my love for their surf and turf burrito--a magical carne asada x fried shrimp burrito ($11) with the works melded with sour cream. It literally doesn't need any salsa, but definitely ask if you want some (they don't keep a salsa bar out like most places so you have to request it!). You can order everything ahead via phone for takeout or just opt to sit in the few indoor and 2 outdoor tables they have. Ugh I don't even mind they are a few dollars more than other taco trucks and such in the area ($3.25 for tacos) because they have a consistent storefront and are always there when I need them lol. They also have one of the most solid horchatas. They make their drinks fresh every 2 days, and its one of the things worth picking up each time. I've been coming to El Frutal for years, since I was a kid, but it's a bad experience now. The short girl working there, probably in her 20's , has the worst attitude. She looks like she's mad you even walked in the door and acts like serving you is a huge inconvenience. She's complaining about being overworked, but that's no excuse for terrible customer service. Honestly, it's gotten to the point where the whole vibe is ruined. Until they fix the service, this place is not worth it anymore, and it's definitely not as good as it used to be. Great service from the young lady at the register. Food was great too, I personally am an Adobada fan in general so maybe it's a bit biased to say theirs was great. But both meats were so good and I definitely recommend their green salsa. Not crazy spicy but flavor is there and that's a great combination. It wasn't very busy when I came in. I've been wanting to try this place for awhile now and that day--luckily I was craving a mangonada. I did get confused a little because they have another place within the same area that only sells food. If you walk down a little, you'll find the ice cream store. The mangonada itself, I would probably give it a 4/5. It looked very pretty and appetizing yes, but it was hard to eat. I was happy to see that it was super full, but when it came down to eating it my chamoy went everywhere but in my belly lol. There were a lot of people there so the atmosphere was definitely lively. Price: 4.3/5 - The smoothie was a bit expensive I felt based on quality (see below), but the tacos and quessabirria ($5) felt reasonable. Food: 4.5/5 - All the tortillas are homemade and fresh. You can taste the freshness especially when I had the fish taco. Felt that taco specifically was fresh and the ingredients worked so well together. The mango smoothie left a lot to be desired as it didn't really taste like mango. The quesabirria was solid, but I felt it lacked a bit of the seasoning/flavor that I usually get from birria tacos. Literally best fish tacos in Stockton! They are my favorite item on the menu. I love that you get to choose between corn and flour because most establishments only give you corn as an option. Their flour tortillas are superb- you can definitely tell they were homemade with love. Every topping on the taco is well thought out and complementary to each other. I asked for extra hot salsa and jalapeños and carrots on the side, and they were great additions as well if you are a fan of spice. The quality of the ingredients justify the fact that the prices per taco are a little on the higher side. I don't mind paying a little extra than average because the fish tacos are literally that amazing. I ordered ahead through their website and received a 10% discount for creating a VIP profile with them. My order was complete in 10 min which was really nice and the customer service was fast and friendly. The establishment was extremely clean as well. They need to figure out their delivery options because it's been changing a lot and sometimes it seems unavailable altogether. Then when there's a problem with the delivery they have no way to take care of that unless you go drive all the way to their store then explain it in person. They don't have any delivery options for their desert counter part store. They always send texts to try to entice ordering something, but it's annoying because every other place would at least text you a deal once in a while and not just like, "hey you're missing out! Order today!". Overall I really recommend this place, but there are some small things that just get a little annoying and I feel like it would be an easy fix for them. read more

I got burritos for National Burrito Day on 4/6, they were great. I ordered two kinds: the steak burrito with everything, and a bean & cheese burrito. My son, who got the steak, said it was one of best burritos he's eaten. He didn't give me details on the taste though, just "It's really good, Dad." But mine, the bean & cheese was awesome! Some burritos can be a bit bland but not mine. And like my son's opinion on his burrito, one of best he's eaten, this bean and cheese was one of the best I've eaten. Let's start with the well seasoned & soft, whole pinto beans which held up well within the burrito--not spilling out while the burrito falls apart. No refried beans. The cheese was what kept the beans from falling out & kept the burrito intact. The seasoning? Just enough spice to add kick to the burrito, but not so much that it doesn't numb your lips & it's all you think about. I have gone to this establishment multiple times and have had a great overall experience. Although this past time I went I ordered something very simple. 4 asada tacos, ONLY cheese and salsa on them due to allergies with cilantro. My order was verified by Aolani at the register. When I received my order it had a ton of onions/cilantro. I brought this up to her and she said "well you should've specified you didn't want this on it" I then said "I did when I said I ONLY want this on it and nothing else" she then said "ok well whatever" and had an attitude for the remainder of the discussion. I felt this was very uncalled for since I was only brining to their attention that my order was incorrect. The manager offered to remake to order which they did but it was also incorrect. It is not hard to follow simple instructions. Just follow what the customer asks for on their food they paid for. It also probably didn't help that the person at the register was on their phone the whole time. I enjoyed this place but due to their horrible customer service and lack of attention to detail myself and my family will no longer return to this establishment. read more
