I'd heard about this spot from Toni and Manila Mart's social media (which, by the way, is top-tier) -- so I finally had to check it out. Here's how it went. AMBIANCE: Parking: Parking plaza, room for a lot of cars. Seating: Plenty of seating good for large and small groups, maybe about 30 people. Vibes: I'm not too familiar with Maryland, but I learned this place is near the University of Maryland. It's not exactly a college-town hangout, more like a cozy community plaza packed with good eats. The vibe is warm, homey, and unmistakably Filipino -- casual, community-driven, and full of those comforting kitchen aromas. You can tell locals love it here for real, no-frills Filipino cooking. Relaxed atmosphere, friendly folks, and even a TV if you're into that. Great energy all around -- perfect for a simple food adventure. FOOD/DRINKS: Sisig (Recommend) A steady serving of seasoned tender pork, and a mix of spice and good tang. It's flavorful without being heavy, and every bite reminds you why sisig is such a classic. Laing (Recommend) Rich, creamy, and deeply comforting. The taro leaves were cooked just right -- soft and infused with coconut milk. It was delicious to soothe the savoriness from the sisig. Puto with Leche Flan (Recommend) A nice way to end the meal. The puto was soft and pillowy, while the leche flan on top added that silky, caramel sweetness. It's light, not overly sugary -- the kind of dessert that feels nostalgic and satisfying. Sago Gulaman (Recommend) Refreshing and fun -- that classic mix of brown sugar syrup, chewy sago pearls, and bits of gulaman jelly. It was like sweet tea. ^_^ CUSTOMER SERVICE: Great servers. Chill and quick with the service. TL; DR OVERALL: 4.5 Stars. Good food, good selections, and a pleasant experience. Nothing flashy just good authentic Filipino comfort food done right. Dishes were packed with flavors, the service was great, and the energy was pleasant. I wish the Bioc family and Manila Mart team all the best. Until next time! #RepresentAZN #FilipinoFoodMovement TIPS: * Check out their social media for Filipino recipes! https://www.instagram.com/manilamart/?hl=en

Manila Mart added to favorites This gem has a grocery section on the right side and dining on the left side. The staff is friendly and patient as you decide to pick one of the many delicious items. I got a combo with bisteak and lechon that came with rice (garlic rice was today's pick) and some lumpia. They're generous with their portions. The food is amazing. I found a few items on the grocery side that I was able to enjoy at home. Oh and don't forget the shakes! Honey Dew, Taro and more! I typically get Honey Dew any chance I get. This time I went with Taro. No regrets! Parking is free as this is located in a small business strip. Note: there is free small cups of water

There are not many filipino markets or restaurants in DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia and this by far was one of two closest to me according to Google. You guessed it, a field trip indeed it was... on a Sunday. With no particular crave during my 1st visit to Manila Mart, I did grab a few items: Sago gulaman Gwenie's Pandan cake (slice) - $10.49 Sapin sapin Chicken BBQ on a stick - 1pc $3.89 Laing Sisig - 1/2lb in 16oz container $10.99 Lechon Kawali - 1/2lb in 16oz container $18.00 Garlic rice Chicken Asado siopao - 4pcs $18.89 Goldilock's Polvoron (ube) - one bag (15pcs) $14.79 My Shaldan (lime) There wasn't much option when I arrived and the team was clearly wrapping up busy clearing the steam table as hot lamps were already turned off. A few points to mention - the amount of sisig I received in the 16oz plastic container was 5 tablespoons at best, far from 1/2lb charged. The flavor was weak and I couldn't get past the amount of grease it looked like bottom of the pan serving... this does not travel well. The siopao labeled 4.5oz each had at least a tablespoon of filling in one, 3 have been eaten all the same - flat and sparse flling. The laing was flavorful and the kawali's crunch was holding on to its last hour. I appreciate their spin on the new sauce, but can't replace the OG Mang Tomas for sure. I'll stick to Gwenie's desserts when I visit her shop in MoCo. This visit was very friendly but left me completely disappointed. I'll be sure to come early and update my review when I return another time.

"When I was nine years old [in 1082]...my father took me to the Merkit clan to choose a bride." With those words, twenty-nine-year-old Temudjin begins his reflection on how, in setting out to choose a bride, he was chosen instead in Sergei Bodrov's 2007 film Mongol. On the way to the Merkits, his father, Esugei, chose his friend Dai-Sechen's nomadic village for his riding party to rest for the night. Esugei and Dai-Sechen enter a tent to talk, leaving the nine-year-old boy on his own. "What's your name?" a curious girl asks. "Temudjin," he responds as he fixes his saddle and arranges his belongings. "How old are you?" the brave, and perhaps just a little pushy, girl inquires. "Nine," Temudjin answers, before lifting his supplies, all rolled up, off his mount. "You're even younger than me!" the girl exclaims. "By a lot?" Temudjin asks. "By a whole year," the girl responds. "Why did you come here?" "I'm going to the Merkits to choose a bride. I'm here for the night." "Smart people choose our brides," the girl attests confidently. "Goodbye, Temudjin." The girl smiles and turns to walk away. "Wait! What's your name?" He interrupts her retreat. "Borte, Temudjin. You should choose me!" At the Manila Mart located on 5023 Garrett Avenue in Beltsville, Maryland, you won't have to worry about the deep-fried, Filipino-style, egg rolls (chicken, pork, and beef Lumpia Shanghai) pleading with you with Borte-like eagerness and sincerity to purchase them, but perhaps you should act as if they have done so. Few appetizers are as tasty as the scalding hot Lumpia plucked right out of the pie-shaped tins they give you with a carryout order. Manila Mart's Lumpia aren't the only five-star delights you could head home with or purchase there to eat on site. They also offer noodle dishes (including Pancit Patabok, thick rice noodles tossed with house-made shrimp gravy), vegetable dishes, and meat-centered dishes (my wife loved the grilled liempo or pork belly), both in their regular menu and in the specials. Luckily for me, my wife's always-adventurous appetite convinced her to order the Filipino Spaghetti from the specials menu; and the slightly sweeter taste (compared to Italian or Italian-American approaches) was as delightful and memorable for us as Borte was for Temudjin, who returned five years later, as he promised, for Borte's hand in marriage despite multiple individuals that sought to make sure that he would never become Genghis Khan.

I saw Chef Toni's videos, and then I ate next door and then I followed Manila Mart on Instagram and then I watched Chef To I again and again on IG and thought we have to visit!!! This place did not disappoint!!! Pro Tip: it's busy and non stop so come early and save a seat before you get in line to order. And you can order in two places there is the main register and next to the bar the dip and go section, which could be quicker. Now to the food, the adobo was GOOD, not the best adobo I've ever had (shoutout to Auntie Loida) but yes I'm coming back for more, garlic rice , yum!!! The drinks yummy!!! And there is a store, notice the "mart" in the title so you can get more than just hot food. I will be back and I have to meet Chef Toni!! And yes I purchased balut, never had it and it's time...I'm doing it. Nice atmosphere, almost like eating at Auntie or Lola's table. Service: GREAT 5 Food: Very Good Variety of options: Drink Options: Will we return? 100% YES!!!

I actually don't mind it as a shopping venue. It's a small Filipino store and you can get different products here. I really came to try their food but I was more satisfied at the grocery shopping piece. Just want to get that out of the way first The only food that I did try was the dessert: Halo Halo and it's mostly ice and has a weird red bean consistency. I've never had this dessert before so I don't really know what to make out of it, but I thought $8 for it was extremely overpriced. I didn't eat the bean thing because it was hard and unpalatable to me. The mango ice cream that I came with was delicious but honestly I could have done without the entire dessert for the most part. I was a little bit surprised by no pancits at being in the food trays. The prices are extremely high. I'm not sure I would return. I prefer lumings

Had to stop in to get some Filipino grocers and couldn't not order a bubble tea. I ordered Ube and my husband got a Thai tea. Both were tasty and refreshing which was great since it was so hot out. There was a bit of a wait since it was so busy but that's ok everyone was so friendly it didn't matter that we waited.

come support this small business! they are one of the only filipino restaurants/food businesses in the area and they deserve the love. never tried the food, but smelled great and i'd love to try. they have pastries sourced from gwenies, which is one of the best bakeries in MD. docked 1 star because the last time i went i ordered a drink. there was only one guy making all of the drinks, but it took over 10 minutes to receive it. no hate to him since he was alone, but i probably will not order drinks here again.

Sooooooo good ! We got a little bit of everything. My favorites were the skewers seasoned so we'll just do delicious. We got the fried pork with rice and man it was sooooo good so delicious I honestly we did not have one bad item when we ordered. Everything was hot and fresh and we pre ordered and thankfully everything was ready. Everyone was so nice and very attentive

This is a really cool spot! Has a selection of Filipino groceries, fresh baked goods and desserts and a hot bar/restaurant portion. It's a great place to try a little of everything if you'd never had Filipino cuisine before. The flavors were great, although I feel the temperature of the food served could be a little more hot. It's a little pricey for the portions in my opinion, as we paid extra for lechon which was delicious but we only got a few pieces each. We spent around $65 for two plates, lumpia, a drink and a dessert.

    First time at Manila Mart!

Dinuguan: i usually judge how good the resto with this dish. Well, i wish i live across the street so i can have this whenever i have a craving. Even my son who is picky with Pinoy dishes loved it. Caldereta: talk about a delicious beef entree. My other son wanted more. turon: was great. Not oily. Crispy and just the right sweetness. sinigang na baboy: Wow! My son said. he never said "Wow!" To my sinigang. cassava cake: wife said can we please get another one to take home. Enough said. Laing: we are so full i have decided to just bring this home.

I have been a regular patron of Manila Mart and I can confidently say that this Filipino restaurant is an icon. While I post pictures of two items, don't be fooled. I have found most of the items on their menu to be flavorful. It's both a restaurant and a Filipino market. If you're a Bangus/milkfish fish fan like I am (high five) , this place is for you. The restaurant is clean and has a street market feel to it, where you can snack on tasty grub and shop at the same time. My personal favorites are their chicken adobo, bangus fish (one of the best tasting fish), garlic rice, pork bbq skewers, sisig, and pork tamarind soup. I am not a fan of lechon in general, but you should give it a shot. I recommend a visit.
