All of the food we got was 10/10. I'm a visitor here and came two days ago and ordered the Pancit Malabon, Crispy Pata, and BBQ Skewer. My parents came to visit 2 days later and I had to introduce them to this place. We ordered the beekfsteak, Kare Kare, crispy pata, sinigang, and bbq skewers and all of it was amazing. They were happy to give us extra condiments like patis, vinegar, mang tomas, etc. The service and management was also extremely welcoming and kind. I definitely recommend this place and will be coming back for Filipino food. We even got Pancit, fresh lumpia, and Goto to go for a snack later. So my original review I was upset that they closed early and wouldn't make my halo halo lol. I decided to give this place another try and I am so happy that I did. The food and service was outstanding! My 9 year old got the BBQ Pork and she ate all of it including the soup. The halo halo was sooo good they don't skimp but I was sad there was no flan on top lol. The sunset was sure beautiful at this restaurant. Finally was able to try some Filipino food in California!! We had no idea what to order. A gentleman who was a regular came to assist our "deer in headlights" family of mine. He suggested the beef steak and crispy pata! Terrible first-time experience. I think it's best to preorder ahead. The wait was exhausting and unbelievably long. I waited 40 minutes for two dishes, pancit, and a squid dish. I ordered a tray of lechon kawali and two other things for my work. I placed the order the week prior and was scheduled for 1145, it wasn't ready until 10 mins after that which isn't a huge deal. I had to rush and leave for work and didn't check the food until I was on the freeway. The lechon was just over cooked, hard and dry every single piece. I think if they had taken it out 10 mins earlier it would've been perfectly fine. If I didn't care about wasting food I wouldn't have served it to my coworkers. Ordered two of the lechon kawali trays (medium is the largest for approximately $55) for a family dinner and it was well received and enjoyed. The crispiness and taste were on point. The sauce that accompanies it (not sure what it's called) had a nice flavor to it. One medium tray serves 8 people and that's more than enough deliciousness to share. The only recommendation is to bring a bag that can keep the heat and warmth of the lechon for long distance events. We drove 30 mins to pick up and return. This location seems to be the only filipino restaurant in the area that is not within a grocery or supermarket. The Pancit Malabon has the right amount of sauce, found in the bottom; Tokwa't Baboy (they use pig ears) is flavorful, and partners well with the pancit; Lechon Kawali is not greasy and skin crispy, served with a small bowl of sinigang broth. In a previous visit, we had the Fresh Lumpia and it was alright, and the Crispy Pata was good. SUGGESTION TO MGMT: Please provide better quality disposable spoons & forks (see photo). read more

I was craving some Flip food, hit Yelp and at the top of the list by the list was Manila Sunset. There used to be a place w/ the same name in Fountain Valley close to HB (in the Costco complex), but it closed :-( Manila Sunset is located in the same complex as the 24 Hour Fitness on Foothill in RC. I ordered the BBQ Chicken Platter - 3 skewers of chicken, two scoops of garlic fried rice and sinigang broth - $5.99 w/ 0.50 upcharge for the garlic fried rice. I also tried the fresh lumpia, because it is hard to find ($3.95). To drink, I had the fresh cantaloupe water ($3). The chicken was very good. The meat was nicely seasoned, it was tender and it was served on top of a banana leaf. In true Flip fashion, there was also a container of vinegar and pepper on the side. The rice was nice and garlicky vs. the recently reviewed Goldilocks in Cerritos. Lastly, the sinigang (tamarind - sour) broth was very tasty: 4 Stars. On the other hand, I was a little disappointed in the fresh lumpia. Don't get me wrong. It was very large and the vegetables were fresh. However, the sauce was too heavy and the choice of the vegetables on the inside could have been better: 3 Stars. The cantaloupe water was very good. It contained shavings which enhanced the flavor: 4 Stars. I like the set up here. There is a big menu that describes the dishes and each dish is made to order. Conversely, most flip places are turo turo (point point) joints, where none of the items are labled and everything sits in warming trays: 4 Stars. The service was OK. This is a order at the counter, pick your food up type of place. The food took a while, but I was OK w/ that: 3 Stars. This place is definitely on my list of places by my office to visit again. They have above average food at good prices. I saw sinigang w/ various types of protein available, kare kare (oxtail) and lechon kawali (fried pork) on the menu. The food here is really good. The reason why I did not give it five stars is because they sometimes do not have the items that I want on the menu. And so you go in with some expectations, I'll need to feel disappointed when it's not available. Otherwise I think they are really good with catering and packaging your food. The only comment I have is to put any dish with sauce and a proper tub rather than the square foil. It can get really messy and if anything it spilled in my car when I did a catered order for adobo. You can call several times during their business hours and a recording while answering stating their business hours (and it's during those same hours!) and after the recording it disconnects. I've been going to the Manila Sunset in North Hills, CA since I was 5 or 6 yrs old. I can still remember my mom ordering the lumpiang shanghai for my birthday parties. Since it was only 5 mins from our house, we'd go there after school. But now that we don't live 5 mins away from one, I miss it a lot! Luckily, they opened one up in R.C. - yay! I love their choices of Filipino dishes here. When I'm craving my dad's cooking, I can find that taste here. It does take more than 15 mins for your food to come but I believe it's cooked as you order it, so the wait is well worth it. I also crave their breakfast dishes for lunch and dinner so it' so comforting knowing that I can get my longanisa (sweet sausage), garlic rice and bangus (small grilled milkfish) at anytime! They also give you a small side of soup with your meal and they normally give me sinigang (so good!) So you'll be super busog (full) afterwards. I ordered my two favorite Filipino dishes, Pork Sisig and Sinigang. The sisig was good, but it was extremely greasy. The Sinigang was fabulous!. Had a lot of vegetables, which I love! The soup had just the right amount of sourness. It was delicious! For dessert we had the Bibingka Ala Mode. Very moist and tasty, just the right amount of coconut on the ice cream. No one was in restaurant and it was 4:45 pm on a Monday and we didn't get food till 5:20. I guess if its the only place nearby you have no choice. Called in an order of pancit and crispy pata, was told it will be ready in 30 minutes. Got there 30 minutes later and food is hot and ready. No dine in, not sure about their patio area though. Their crispy pata is the best, something we can't make at home so definitely worth ordering. If you have to reheat it, air fryer is your best bet will get that crunch back. There are plenty of orders ready and looks like people are still placing orders, hopefully they get to survive this pandemic. Was in the area so the wife wanted to try this place out. Stopped by during lunch time, and the place wasn't too busy. They have a decent sized menu with most of your usual Filipino style dishes. The wife ordered the crispy pork sisig, I ordered the lechon kewali plate, and we also got some Shanghai lumpiang. All of the food tasted pretty good. The wife loves herself some liver so the sisig hit the spot. She also ordered the iced melon drink which she said was delicious.
