I've been here several times and the food is always pretty good. I've gotten the griot and jerk chicken bites. The griot is ok, very well flavored. Sometimes a little dry but nonetheless very good. The jerk chicken bites have great flavor as well. Although I don't consider it to taste like jerk at all lol. But the flavor is still very good. The rice is tasty, the fried plantains are made very well, and the Pikliz has a good blend of spices. If you're expecting food like you get from ma and pa Haitian restaurants, I don't think this is it in terms of portion. But this is definitely an elevation of our country's flavor and I'm open to eating here again! read more

I placed an order on Uber eats. My order showed up at my door with only three items in it. I ordered conch fritters that where not in the bag. No one called to notify me that they would not be included in my order and no refund was given. I also ordered the jerk chicken bites. They were missing the plantain fries that were suppose to come with them. The coco loco shrimp that I ordered only had four pieces of shrimp in a tiny cup with sauce the rice was included but was missing the plantain chips that come with it. For this establishment to allow their food to leave missing items, not notifying their customers and not refunding the money for the missing items is unexplainable DO NOT ORDER FROM MANJAY!!!! Jerk Chicken bowl is the way to go! The jerk spices and the whole dish all together explodes with Caribbean flavor. The spice of the chicken comes first but the moist rice and crispy cool cabbage brings a rush to your flavor palette you have to experience eating at MANJAY. It's located in the citadel food hall on 83rd st and plenty of nearby parking. Great food! Very flavorful my favorite dish was the vegan roti and the conch fritters! We ordered the jerk chicken entree, coco loco shrimp, braised pork, conch fritters, vegan roti, and the rum coconut cake (AMAZING). I also was served the rice and beans which was flavorful with a hint of coconut but a little too dry for my liking. The conch fritters was moist and full of flavor a little spicy too which I love. The vegan roti is to die for the sauce is yummy with tons of veggies. Manjay is a "flavortown" for sure! The only con was that they were running behind. So my husband and I had to wait around. Manjay is situated inside of the citadelle. Been there twice and both times my experience was delightful. Parking. You have two options. Either park on the street or park in the back of the building. Most busy day, you will find it harder to find a spot after 6 pm. Food. Dishes is out of this word. So many Vegan options which is a big plus nowadays. It's a caribbean cuisine which imply that you will find some perfect seasoned dishes. Man... one thing I love is consistency. These guys take the cake. I've had a few things there and always always always it's the same deliciousness. Manjay offers great food and is a beautiful plated introduction to Haitian cuisine. Although not as classical as an original plate from your local zoe lady, it is just as fulfilling and delicious! This Caribbean restaurant is anything but traditional! Their tagline is modern Caribbean cuisine and this food is just that. It actually tasted more like a fusion of cuisines. This may be due to the fact that the Caribbean is filled with various culinary influences from colonization. For example, the Jerk Chicken and coconut rice was reminiscent of an Asian inspired dish where it felt like I should be eating it with chopsticks. This wasn't the Jamaican-style jerk chicken I'd grown up on that is coated in spices and slow-cooked over a fire or grill. It was breaded and flavored more like a Caribbean General Tso chicken. However this is quality food made fresh daily. Only prepared when ordered. The bowls come with two sides which is a good portion and value. I also found these dishes to have a bit of kick to them for those who may not be as tolerant of spice. This place came recommended by a friend, so today was the first time I tried it. I have always liked griyo, a traditional Haitian dish, so I decided to try out Manjay located at the Citadel. We ordered the family combo of griyo with rice & beans, and banan payzay, the jerk bowl, and the plantain fries. Wow! It was so deliciously my family and I couldn't stuff our mouths quick enough. The sauces that accompanied the meals are soooo good. The coconut rice with the jerk chicken adds such a nice flavor to the whole dish. I purchased food in advance for a meeting. I was having with someone, and they picked out what they wanted from the menu. I ordered online using an app, then called to confirm that they received the order, including the request for extra pikliz. I paid for the extra side of pikliz, and the person I was meeting with that I was buying dinner with really really really wanted them. so I had the food scheduled so that I could get it picked up and then run to the airport to pick the person up. First of all the food was not ready until 45 minutes after it was supposed to be ready. That's crazy. It wasn't even like my friend had picked out really complicated or difficult things to make, they were all things that the restaurant should've had on hand and been able to make quickly. I get that this is a Haitian restaurant, and having lived in Haiti. I understand that things are a bit slower and relaxed there, but I was pretty sure that they understood when I called to confirm my order that they knew it had to be ready by the time it was scheduled to be picked up, in any event I was late picking up the person at the airport, we did get to the hotel and sat down to have our dinner and our meeting, and as soon as I unpacked the bag, I knew that they were problems. The order was missing the extra pikliz that we had paid for, it Did not have one of the sides, and it had the wrong drink. The bananas were dry and not hot even though I had put the food in a thermal bag as soon as I picked it up and the rice was still warm. All in all it was pretty disappointing. Place totally dead on a week day. Decided to try it , pictures look good. Stand by the cash register for 10 min because the employee went to get ice cream and seemed in no hurry at all. The cook just apologized for her, she didn't bother. Ordered one of the bowls (steak, rice, beans, plantains) comes with one little tiny container of sauce filled to less than half. Barely tasted it. Politely asked if I could have another one. YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR IT, she says looking annoyed.
