Put this on your must-try tourist restaurant list! The setup is similar to Chipotle--but with a Caribbean twist. You get to build your own plate by choosing your rice, meats, veggies, and more. Overall, the pricing felt fair--except for the oxtail. It was definitely overpriced for the portion size and not as tender as I would've liked. Still, I'd recommend stopping by and trying it for yourself! Customer service was average. Oh wait beef patty AMAZING. I almost didn't get a pic!

There's a wonderful thing of living in a big city where you can enjoy Jamaican food during a Lunar new year festival! I'm a fan of Jrk! Having tried them at both an elite event, a food truck as well as snacks during their nightclub space next door. Since most of the food at the lunar new year event was seafood, I stopped here for some sustenance instead. The service is fast food: order at the counter, and the employees were friendly. I enjoyed their jerk chicken bowl with an extra protein portion and sides of rice and beans, fried plantains and fried yucca sticks. The rice & meat were well seasoned and the portion big enough that I had for lunch the next day. They have both inside and outside seating, and Sunday I ended up eating on the patio to continue enjoying the festivities.

Feels kinda like a Jamaican Chipotle with an efficient assembly line for bowls or wraps. Except it tastes so much better! Like legit flavor meets fast casual, it's just perfect. Jerk Chicken: Heavily marinated and dripping with flavor. Any other chicken will just seem bland. I paired it with rice & peas, which had a very nice coconut flavor. Ox Tail: The coveted oxtail and oxtail gravy. It costs more than any other dish, but it's worth the splurge. Each bit around the bone is rich and flavorful, kinda like slowed cooked short rib. And that extra gravy is just magical on rice. Jerk Chicken Mac & Cheese: They do mac & cheese right here. A nice top of layer of melted cheese and nice blend of cheese throughout. There's also some shredded chicken to liven it up, though the main jerk chicken dish is a bit more seasoned. Crispy Yuca Sticks: A honorable mention for a side. Hearty, crunchy and soft in the middle. Great for exploring the various sauces they offer.

Great food in an awesome space. I'd already been to dinner at Mangrove where they have more of a chill lounge vibe at night, during the day they use that space as a driving area for the fast-casual concept Jrk! The food is great, I got a bowl with quinoa, jerk chicken, plantains, and broccoli. The grains and meat had huge portions, the fruits and veggies not so much. They also had patties which I'll have to try next time. A little expensive but not too shocking for a place downtown, it didn't bother me. Cool drink options too.

Pleasantly surprised and proud. Authentic flavors, fresh ingredients, pleasant staff and clean dining areas. Jrk! Has gone a great job of presenting the Jamaican culture through food and decor with a slight twist and modernized approach.

After returning my library books downtown I decided to walk over to Jrk and have some lunch. I walked in around 11:30 and it wasn't crowded at all. I decided to get the vegan bowl with rice and peas, broccoli, some sort of red cabbage, and the pineapple plantains. Every thing was delicious and tasted authenticity Jamaican for a "fast food" type of spot and that really impressed me. Now for the best part: if you decide to dine in your lead to this amazingly beautiful spot that apparently turns into speakeasy after hours. It was so nice to be able to eat my lunch here by the window and watch all of the downtown employees walk around on their lunch breaks. The service was wonderful. All of the staff were kind and prompt and helpful to me when I couldn't decide what to order. If you are craving a tasty Jamaican meal without breaking the bank you should definitely give Jrk a try! PS: the virgin piña colada I ordered after my meal was the real star of the show and it needs its own separate review--it was DELICIOUS

Delicious!! The meat just fell off the oxtail bone. Full of flavors. Literally put me to sleep lol portion was good and I thought the price was decent too. Fast service. Def coming back when I'm in Miami again.

I eat here at least once a week! I love this place. Between the kind staff, large portions, unique flavors and fast service, I can't decide what I love most about this place. When it comes to the food I highly recommend the peas and rice for your base and jerk chicken for your protein. Huge insider tip, ask for some Oxtail gravy on top of your rice for a huge burst of rich flavor. The restaurant is a fast-casual style where you go down the line and choose what your stomach calls for. The line gets pretty long during she weekday lunch rush but don't worry they work fast to keep it moving. Overall, this is one of my favorite places to grab lunch in all of Miami. Can't say enough great things.

Stopped before my flight and it was so worth it. It's a really cute spot. We were greeted when we walked in. i was iffy about the food being made already but they did not disappoint. You are able to try what you would like. You can order a bowl or wrap. My favorite was the curry chicken, jerk chicken, fried rice with jerk sauce, pineapple plantain, cabbage and jerk mac & cheese. The customer service was great. Also I could here the music and vibes before walking in. Definitely will be back.

So i was leaving Miami and thought "i wonder if they have some good jamaican here?" And came across / discovered this gem. Kind of in the cut kinda place, but the inside was so nice! It caught me off guard in a good way and not to say i expected something shabby, it just was so bright and nice and new looking. But yea -- oxtails were well flavored and cooked. Very good! Rice was delish as well, cabbage was crunchy with peppers JUST LIKE I LIKE. My lady liked hers also so two thumbs up guys

The flavors were really hittin--not salty but definitely not lacking in flavor and complexity. So delicious The only criticism I would have from what I ordered is that the rice was ever so slightly undercooked which made it a bit dry. Other than that, everything was great. There's not really a server--you order and they text you when it's ready. Then you come pick it up and go to your table. But the cashier lady was very nice and helped me decide what to get.

If you're looking for something unique to try at the Citadel, Manjay is worth a shot. They serve Haitian cuisine. Portions were generous and in general, the food was kind of heavy. Many of the components I believe were made to order, so there was a short wait. Here's what my wife and I ordered: Appetizer: * Caribbean Conch Fritters ($14) - Manjay pikliz, honey mustard remoulade These were big and tasty. Six pieces, like giant hush puppies with conch inside. The plate came with pikliz in the center. Pikliz is like the Haitian version of coleslaw, made with cabbage, carrots, onions, and peppers. Manjay's version was spicy and yummy. Bowls, each with 2 sides and 1 sauce: * Honey Jerk Chicken Bowl ($18) - breaded and tossed in Manjay's homemade honey jerk sauce; with red beans rice and sweet plantains and scotch bonnet mango aioli * From Haiti with Love (Griyo) ($18) - Deep-fried Kreyol-style slow-braised pork; with banan payzay and toofay Both the chicken and pork were very good and flavorful. The pork was served bone-in. The rice and beans and sweet plantains were comforting and addictive. The scotch bonnet mango aioli was spicy. Banan payzay are Haitian pressed plantains. These were savory and starchy. The toofay ("legume") was good too. It's a hearty vegetable stew, essentially Haitian ratatouille. Our cashier was Roniqua and she was nice. During our visit, I think Manjay had the longest line (a good sign). After walking around, looking at the other food court options and seeing Manjay's high rating on Yelp, we were sold on Manjay. We dined in so we got real plates and silverware. We actually took everything up to the rooftop bar and ate up there. Our trays were bussed by the staff on the roof. Along with this location at the Citadel food court in Little River (just north of Little Haiti), Manjay has a casual strip location near the Miami airport in Doral. This Citadel location is the original; it opened in February 2019. The Doral location opened in 2024.

The vibe of the space feels like they brought in the murals of wynwood to their interior design. The music selection was rap hit after rap hit, loved. We sat at the bar. Our server was Marcus. He was so helpful and attentive. Gave us his menu recommendations, which we followed suit. We ordered the duck dumplings and the sweet potato croquettes from the HH menu. From the regular menu, we ordered the bbq toro and the oxtail udon. The duck dumplings had a rich au jus, great. Our favorite app was the sweet potato croquette. Slightly sweet, a satisfying crunch, but soft in the center with tender brisket. The white bbq sauce and parm gave it a nice smoky nuttiness. Ordered another round, they were so good! The bbq toro had an amazing smokey flavor and a nice citrusy butter as the sauce. The cut was perfect. The oxtail udon was really hearty, and by far the best dish we had (though all the dishes were seriously incredible). It comes with a cured egg yolk, which they mix for you tableside. There was a good amount of oxtail in the dish and the udon sauce - bottle it for me please and thank youuu.

Sometimes less is more. I booked brunch for the Sunday after Valentine's Day. The reservation was confirmed, but then I found out they don't even open until 5 PM that day. How does a brunch reservation get confirmed for a time when the restaurant isn't open? I decided to give it another try this weekend and went at 5 PM to sit at the bar. The hostess told me there was a "Hungry Post" event happening. I asked about the price and she said it was $100 per person. Okay, fine -- but when I asked what the event included or what it was about, she seemed unsure and said it was "just a party" and that you just go in. No explanation of what was included, no specials, nothing. Charging $100 per person just to attend a "party" with no clear details feels odd and poorly communicated. I genuinely want this place to succeed because the food and drinks are great -- I just wish they would focus on that and improve communication and organization instead of trying so hard to be trendy.

The croquettes were OK. The ropa vieja was not good. The flavor was very one dimensional, it just tasted like tomato paste. I didn't like how they plated it - ropa vieja in a dish on a plate, with a totally separate plate for rice and beans. It made the meal feel disjointed and small. The deep fried snapper was the most disappointing. It was snapper nuggets with a (Cajun?) seasoning on top. They tasted like catfish nuggets and nothing about that dish felt or tasted Cuban. The idea of plating it with the fish bone wrapped around had good intentions but it didn't land. Does it really make sense to call this dish "whole fried snapper" if it's served as nuggets? Rice and plantains came on a separate plate and they were fine. I expected a lot more from this meal, but maybe we had an off experience.
