I'm a huge fan of Manley's and stop by whenever I'm in the area. It's a small mom's and pop's donut shop that offers a wide variety of donut and breakfast items. Not only do they have yeast and cake types of donuts, but you can also find mochi donuts and cronuts. I love French crullers and appreciate that Manley's have more than just the glazed kind. They have crullers with vanilla dipped icing, maple dipped icing, and strawberry dipped icing. I also think that Manley's crullers are way bigger than my own local donut shop. I also love their blueberry cake donut. It packs on a strong blueberry flavor, and I love how soft and moist the crumb of the donut is. I've had their mochi donut, which I've found to be a lot more dense than mochi donut specialty stores. That being said, I think that Manley nailed the chewy texture of the mochi donut, and I don't mind it at all. On my recent visit I tried one of their yeast donuts with fun toppings. It had a chocolate glaze with toasted marshmallows and an oreo. Got to love their light and airy traditional yeast recipe, and the toppings were great. Came here for a quick post dinner treat as we were in the area. ~7:55pm this place was still open with a sign that said "open till 9pm." The lady was so delightful I was happy we came in. The donut holes were amazing and not overly sweet AND no weird after taste! If I'm near by I'll stop by here again. This is my favorite donut shop. I'm totally addicted to the glazed cronut holes -- they're airy and flaky, with the right amount of chewiness (the cinnamon ones are really good too). I also love the breakfast bagel sandwiches -- gotta have my #5 bacon, egg, cheese, and jalapeno sandwich on a jalapeno bagel! The owners and workers are always very friendly, and have come to recognize me with a smile. An unusual plus for this Manley's is that it opens until 9 PM, which you don't often see for donut shops -- so if you have that late evening craving, this is the place to go! There are 3 tables that seat 4-6. The place isn't fancy by any means, but I find that it has a nice mom & pop vibe. Don't bother with Krispy Kreme, Dunkin, or any big chain -- support your local small businesses, and try a place like Manley's! They're almost always going to be miles better. read more

Oh man.... Manley's! I think I might've found a new favorite donut spot here in the South Bay. There's more than one location in San Jose, but decided to go and try the one in Cupertino on Homestead Rd because on Google it shows they're open until 9pm (though on Yelp, it says they're open until 2. So that might be some discrepancy). My first time coming here was on a Saturday around 10am. There was no line when I went and there was still plenty of donuts out! I wish I got the name of the sweet Asian lady that was working and helping me at the time. She was super patient and gave me time to decide what to pick and choose. A memorable first-time customer interaction. Okay, so getting to the food... Let me first say, they have cronuts! I've probably had a cronut only once before, but man. These are TO DIE FOR. Biting on the outside tastes like a donut, but you get that soft, pillowy texture that's from the croissant on the inside. I need a whole dozen of these, which you have the option to also get! Next time, I'm definitely ordering just a dozen of the cronuts. Oh, and they also have cronut holes?! Like that sounds scrumptious but they didn't have any available at the time, so that just calls for another trip. Overall, I'm still raving over these cronuts! Probably one of the best things I've had in a while. I was telling my boyfriend that the cinnamon sugar cronut tastes like a churro and he agrees. Sunday morning donut run and came by to check this place out. Before I walked in I checked to see if there was a person limit but there wasn't. The inside is spacious so it did not feel crowded even with a family of 4 and a couple ahead of me. I checked out their donut inventory and there was a little bit of everything. I got a chocolate, sugar, glazed, and sprinkles donut. The lady bagged my items and I paid with cash (they also accept card) and I was on my way. The sprinkles donut was okay. It tasted like sponge cake. The coating with sprinkles was thick and covered more than half the donut. The chocolate donut was good. It was fluffy and the chocolate glaze was okay. It did have a light after donut taste. The service was efficient. There was a variety of donuts. They also sell sandwiches which I might come back and try. They have a variety of cold drinks in the fridge. Spacious area to wait to order. read more

The owner of this place (asian woman) often overcharges without giving any bill. This is a serious issue and it happened several times to me to believe it's a mistake. Recently I ordered 4 sandwiches and 3 donuts which should cost 33$ with tax and I got charged 39$. She doesn't give any bill. I will always come to Manley's over Donut Wheel now because their service is fast and friendly, and their prices are still reasonable even though donuts everywhere cost more these days. They have all the basic flavors and styles of donuts (raised and cake, chocolate, sugar, powdered sugar, plain, cinnamon sugar crumb, strawberry), and all the donuts I've tried are always fresh and delicious and soft when I pick them up. Also I ate breakfast at Manley's Donut shop - egg, sausage, and cheese on a croissant and it was excellent. They have three tables for eating inside; each one seats up to four people. Many customers buy and pickup. The prices were quite reasonable. And the order taker/cashier is super friendly. In addition to donuts, they offer bagel, croissant, and bread sandwiches for breakfast and lunch. They also have two large refrigerators with a variety of beverages and have coffee too. They take credit card ($5 minimum) and of course, cash. The ladies behind the counter are friendly and are quick to serve the customers so that you can be in and out. I had a glazed donut and a mocha cappuccino and I'm happy we finally tried and supported our nearby local donut shop. We went around 9-ish on a Sunday and it wasn't crowded. It's easy to make bad donuts: too sweet, too greasy, too doughy, and flavors not quite *there*. Then there are personal preferences. To sum up, this is a good one for me. The dough was on the fluffy side and felt light. It's just sweet enough for keep on eating and not needing coffee or whatever to wash down. The toppings, particularly the powder sugar, were just right. They are not fancy with candy colors or exotic ingredients. It's your everyday donut shop. I've passed by Manley's Donut my whole life but never thought to drop by and give their donuts a try. I'm not sure if they're affiliated with all of the other Manley's Donut Shops in the South Bay, but it's certainly a very memorable name among all the "Happy Donuts" and "Maple Leaf Donuts" in the area. I recently tried their cronut, red velvet cake donut, and apple fritter. Their cronut has excellent layers and a light, fluffy texture. Highly recommend if you want to try a cronut but can't fly to Dominique Ansel for the original. The red velvet cake donut caught my eye because of the color -- I don't think I've seen this flavor in a mom-and-pop donut shop before. The texture was perfectly soft, like a good cake donut should be. I didn't detect as much cocoa flavor as I'd like in a red velvet-flavored food, but I still enjoyed it. The apple fritter had a nice textural contrast between the crispy fried parts, the gooey glaze, and the soft apples. Do note that I brought this home and reheated it, which probably doubled the enjoyment I would have gotten had I eaten it at room temp. All in all, excellent donuts if you're not in the mood to wait at Stan's. The staff is friendly and patient. They also accept credit card for purchases over $5, I think, so also a good option if you don't have cash. read more
