We've been here several times for the mochi donuts, and it's one of my daughter's favorite mochi donut spots. During one of our donut runs, we noticed they also serve poke bowls at a really great price, especially if you have a student ID. Unfortunately, the first time we came to try the poke, they had already sold out. Lesson learned! On our second attempt, we arrived earlier and were able to order two poke bowls. The only issue was that the rice was still very hot, and by the time we got home, it had partially cooked the poke. Our third visit was perfect because we learned from our first two experiences. We came early again and asked if the poke could be packed separately since the rice was still warm. The employee was incredibly kind and even had me hover my hand over the rice to check the temperature. It was definitely still hot, so he happily packed the poke separately for us. I'm so glad he did because everything tasted great once we got home. The poke was fresh, flavorful, and surprisingly saucy, which we loved. Comes with seaweed salad. While they don't offer many toppings and add-ons as a traditional poke shop, the quality and price make it an excellent value. I've been seeing videos of their poke and decided to try it out. After having it two times, I would say the poke is okay. Also, they forgot to give me seaweed salad the first time I tried it. While the poke is budget friendly, you get what you pay for in quality. It's decent and filling, but quality doesn't compare to higher priced poke shops ($18-$20). The poke kind of reminded me of Basa Seafood in SF, which I wasn't a fan of, and Basa is also known for cheaper prices. MoDo only offers tuna poke and I am a salmon girly. I'm not sure if they plan to expand their selections, but if you wish to try their poke bowls, get the half n half. BTW, I believe staff should be mindful of the rice temperature. My friend visited on a BOGO day and said her bowl was super hot. By the time she arrived home, some of the poke was half-cooked. I also came on a BOGO day but did not experience this. read more

Not only are they affordable, but they also sell POKE by the pound as well now too! Thank you to some friends that recommended me to try this place -- because this place is often overlooked. It's situated right next to a Peet's Coffee, but the sign is often so small that you don't realize that it's there. I've came here and tried their mochi donuts a few times. They're delicious, seasoned well, and they have a variety of flavors that you can choose from. In addition, they have pandan and ube soy lattes, as well as pandan and ube coffee with whole milk included as well (to add onto the sweetness and/or zestiness of the drinks). Most of all, the POKE is not only one of the cheapest, but also of good quality as well. Though basic and not a lot, $13 poke bowls with variety are hard to find in this economy, and so I'm glad to find a spot that even sells poke by the pound as well. On a chill Thursday afternoon, my partner and I were looking around Santa Clara and thought mochi donuts would be so delicious. To satisfy this craving we went to MoDo. I came to try the new March 2026 flavors: honey lavender and earl grey. Wow the honey lavender is fantastic! Such strong lavender flavor without it tasting overwhelming or too floral. The honey drizzle is a nice touch (but maybe the amount can be reduced). The earl grey was ok; the flavor is too subtle to me. Stopped by MoDo Hawaii because our 3-year-old insisted on having dessert after our Valentine's Day lunch. We have always loved MoDo, but this visit was extra pleasant. The two employees were pretty busy, and I arrived in the midst of the busyness. I did not mind the wait since our little one fell asleep in the car, and the mochi donuts were going to be a great surprise when she woke up. The employee, with the makeup that is on point, was so attentive and apologetic for the wait. Even though they were swamp, she checked on all the customers and repeatedly apologized for the delay. I appreciated the great customer service even though it was a busy (and what could have been a stressful time). Both employees remained calm and worked through the consistent rush of customers. We love coming here for not their donuts (which are an added bonus), but mostly for their poke bowls. I have to stay this is the closest poke bowl I've ever found to having on the island of Hawaii especially for a good price point!!! It is so simple, flavorful, and large quantities of big chunked ahi tuna! You can't go wrong with any flavors, but highly recommend the 1/2 shoyu and 1/2 of spicy. It is a very small store, so plan to bring home or eat outside on picnic tables. It is a really nice plaza so you can find ample outdoor seating. Came to MoDo Hawaii to pick up some birthday treats for a friend. Honestly, I had MoDo on my mind because a friend had shared with us their promo for fried sando desserts. We have been here about 3 more times since I first discovered the mochi donuts. I have since become a big fan of mochi donuts. When eaten quickly after picking up, the chewy and crunchy outside is a great combination. They had a month long special that I randomly discovered in May 2026, where each donut was $2 each instead of $3 or whatever each normally costs. I was so bummed that I discovered that the second to last day the promo ended, but maybe that is a good thing! The Passion fruit is my favorite especially if you like tangy and sweet. If I could, I would easily eat 10 of them at one time. Chocolate and sesame one are also delicious. All the donuts are sweet because of the frosting but the flavors are so unique that they don't taste artificial like typical donuts. I recommend trying this place, there is not indoor seating it is mostly pick up and go. The place has outdoor seating first come first serve if it's a nice day. This is a review specifically for the poke bowls. If you like a no-frills experience similar to the ones you get in Hawaii, then this is the place to go. I went for the half and half shoyu and spicy salmon over rice. The portion was generous. The sauces on both felt well balanced; not too fatty, not too salty, to too sweet. I'll definitely come back when I'm craving poke. The store is quite small but there are seats outside in the surrounding area. As for the poke. This was such a wonderful addition to their set menu. There are few spots in the South Bay to get really great Hawaiian style poke and this one is up there. The portion in the like bowl is very generous and I wish they had a larger size.
