I now understand the hype - I don't think donuts have made my eyes rolled like that. I normally don't like eating donuts (too sweet) but everybody kept telling me to check out Stan's. I'm now in love but sad now there's a line! They've been making fresh donuts for decades. You walk in, place your order with one of the staff and pay cash only. I got their famous glazed donuts, the bavarian one, a couple old fashioned, pink cake, etc. Let me tell you, their glazed donuts must be eaten fresh for optimal enjoyment. I couldn't believe the soft fluffy texture, and it was just the right amount of sweetness It didn't have an overly oily after taste either! I killed my donut in less than 30 seconds, and this is coming from someone who used to not like donuts. But my favorite is their bavarian one - its powder donut packed with custard that's NOT TOO SWEET. My goodness my eyes rolled back on this one. I gave away most of my donuts to friends so I'm going to come back and try more! My friends actually ate them the next day and they still thought it was hella good. I saw online that Stan's had a banana buttermilk donut only served on Sundays so I attempted to go early on a Sunday morning. Sadly, I didn't go early enough because they were all sold out :( Next time I have to go right when they open. I have been craving a Stan's glazed donut for the longest time, and thought there was no better way to start a road trip to SoCal! We got to Stan's at around 7am and the line was wrapped around the inside of the store but it moved quickly. I wanted to try a few other items, so we got glazed donuts, a cinnamon roll, the daily rotating banana buttermilk donut and a maple donut. The glazed donuts come out hot and fresh, and they were heavenly. The best glazed donuts I've ever had. The cinnamon roll was also super good, and not too sweet! I'm not a big maple fan, but the maple donut was also surprisingly pretty good. The banana buttermilk donut was a bit too artificial tasting for me, so I'd pass on this next time. I've been to Stan's a few times but haven't done a review because I always eat the donuts before I can take a picture. This time is no different, but I figured I'd do a review anyway. I arrived on a Wednesday morning and was surprised that there was a line out the door. The counter seating was also about 80% full. You can cut the line if you have a pick up order or are only getting 1-2 donuts. I texted my partner when I got in the line and it took about 22 minutes from lining up to walking out with my donuts. The guys making donuts at the front were churning them out even at around 9am, no doubt the donuts will sell out! There's an ATM at the back if you forget cash. I ordered two glazed old fashioned donuts, one maple raised, and one chocolate raised. All were thoroughly delicious and perfectly crisp. Service was very prompt, got my 4 donuts and went on my merry way. Nothing like a fresh Stan's donut, they're still good a few hours later but taste best right off the line. I'd read in the Yelp reviews that a line forms out the door in the morning, but I thought that was only on the weekends. Nope. I got there on a Thursday morning right as they opened at 6am and there was already a line. It took about 15 min. to get to the counter to place my order. Stan's makes the donuts right there in the front of the shop, so they are completely fresh. I ordered one chocolate French cruller and one chocolate crème-filled glaze. The cruller was wonderful. Airy and soft with delicious chocolate on top. Should have ordered two of those. The chocolate crème-filled was not as good. It was too crispy on the outside and had too much warm crème inside. I might have liked it better if I hadn't first eaten the perfect cruller. Stan's only takes cash, but they have an ATM machine in the shop. There is a large shared parking lot. Phone orders must be placed 24 hours in advance. I'll be back for more crullers and to try an apple fritter, which are only served on Mondays. read more

Without a doubt my favorite donut shop in the South Bay. It has the vibe and pricing of a local shop but the quality of a fancy eatery. I may sound like I'm over-hyping it, but I've eaten a lot of donuts in my life. I always look forward to whenever I get to have Stan's again. There will be a line. You will need cash. But everything moves quickly and especially on weekends, there are so many employees pumping out donuts. The best donuts in San Jose! We found out about this place while ordering food at the Pho restaurant next door. The donuts are like the famous Dunkens in New York. They have the be the softest and the puffiest of all time. They are not too sweet as many others are. Get this...most of the donuts are under $3 ($1.50-2.50). You can't get a better deal! You can't even get a *good cup of coffee for that. The only advice and tip is to order ahead and or get there early. My mind was blown! They are incredibly fluffy with a nice chew like mochi donut but much softer. They are not too sweet, no milk needed. I finished all 3 in a matter of minutes. I love this place and been coming here for years. I give the donuts 5 stars but after today's service I'm gonna have to rate it a 2 star business. Reason being is I had bought two dozen donuts lady at the register rung me up $38.50. I handed her a $50 bill she marked it with a pen and proceeded to give me my change but only gave me $1.50 back. I told the lady I gave you $50, and she argued back with me and said no you gave me $40 two $20 bills which I only had a hundred dollar bill and a fifty in my wallet. I told her to check the till and she said there's none. I looked at the lady who packed my donuts and she apologized and said I'm sorry I didnt see anything that happened. I was upset didn't want to hold up the line and left. Some other customers that were there told me to go back but I didn't want to cause a seen. Fast forward I called back on my drive out the lady who took my money picked up the phone call and I asked to speak to the manager she told me she wasn't there. Then I asked when is she coming and she told me she's not coming today. So I told her I was the guy she short changed and she told me to come back and get my money. I told her I'm long gone so she ended up taking my name and phone number down for when I can come back for it or for store credit. This is a CASH ONLY place guys! I went to Stan's for some breakfast donuts while visiting the San Jose area for vacation. My partner had seen it recommended online, so we decided to stop by! When you enter Stan's, there is a classic diner bar that you can sit at and be served, or there is a specific line for donut "take out" that you can wait in if you are just trying to grab-and-go. We came around 1030-11 on a Wednesday, and waited in line for the express option. The line only took about 5 mins, but they were already out of a lot of donuts for the day. We were there during the World Cup, which could have been an influence. We grabbed one of their "Famous Glazed" and it did NOT disappoint. Truly melt-in-your-mouth goodness, and just the perfect balance of hot and sweet. The inside was clean and the staff were extremely helpful and nice. I will be visiting again on my next trip to the area, and will reccomend to any friend who is traveling out there! read more
