I heard Stan's has the best donuts in Silicon Valley a while ago and finally made it there this morning. I'd read in the Yelp reviews that a line forms out the door in the morning, but I thought that was only on the weekends. Nope. I got there on a Thursday morning right as they opened at 6am and there was already a line. It took about 15 min. to get to the counter to place my order. Stan's makes the donuts right there in the front of the shop, so they are completely fresh. I ordered one chocolate French cruller and one chocolate crème-filled glaze. The cruller was wonderful. Airy and soft with delicious chocolate on top. Should have ordered two of those. The chocolate crème-filled was not as good. It was too crispy on the outside and had too much warm crème inside. I might have liked it better if I hadn't first eaten the perfect cruller. Stan's only takes cash, but they have an ATM machine in the shop. There is a large shared parking lot. Would I stand in a crazy long line for it? Probably not. It's not THAT good. My only negative is that ahead of a holiday they seem to limit options considerably. A co-worker went on Christmas Eve and said she was limited to 1 box of glazed and 1 box of mixed glaze, but couldn't make a custom box or pick what went in the mixed box. That seemed odd.
