I saw online that Stan's had a banana buttermilk donut only served on Sundays so I attempted to go early on a Sunday morning. Sadly, I didn't go early enough because they were all sold out :( Next time I have to go right when they open. I have wanted to check out their storefront since I've had their glazed donut at Cowboy Coffee in Sunnyvale and lots of people online have said Stan's is the best donut shop in SJ area. I definitely had to come earlier because there was already a line out the door at 7:45am. It went by fast though. I just picked out a variety of a dozen donuts. These donuts and coffee in the morning definitely hits the spot! As mentioned, will definitely be back but much earlier so I can try the banana buttermilk donut.

I have been craving a Stan's glazed donut for the longest time, and thought there was no better way to start a road trip to SoCal! We got to Stan's at around 7am and the line was wrapped around the inside of the store but it moved quickly. I wanted to try a few other items, so we got glazed donuts, a cinnamon roll, the daily rotating banana buttermilk donut and a maple donut. The glazed donuts come out hot and fresh, and they were heavenly. The best glazed donuts I've ever had. The cinnamon roll was also super good, and not too sweet! I'm not a big maple fan, but the maple donut was also surprisingly pretty good. The banana buttermilk donut was a bit too artificial tasting for me, so I'd pass on this next time. This is a cash only spot, and everything is very reasonably priced. For 6 donuts, and two coffees, my total came out to around $17 which I thought was a great deal! Stan's is definitely worth the hype for their glazed donuts and I can't wait to find another excuse to stop by

Best. Donuts. Ever! Their warm glazed is the grand champion of all donuts. Been coming since I was a child and now I bring my children back. Love Stan's!

I heard Stan's has the best donuts in Silicon Valley a while ago and finally made it there this morning. I'd read in the Yelp reviews that a line forms out the door in the morning, but I thought that was only on the weekends. Nope. I got there on a Thursday morning right as they opened at 6am and there was already a line. It took about 15 min. to get to the counter to place my order. Stan's makes the donuts right there in the front of the shop, so they are completely fresh. I ordered one chocolate French cruller and one chocolate crème-filled glaze. The cruller was wonderful. Airy and soft with delicious chocolate on top. Should have ordered two of those. The chocolate crème-filled was not as good. It was too crispy on the outside and had too much warm crème inside. I might have liked it better if I hadn't first eaten the perfect cruller. Stan's only takes cash, but they have an ATM machine in the shop. There is a large shared parking lot. Phone orders must be placed 24 hours in advance. I'll be back for more crullers and to try an apple fritter, which are only served on Mondays.

Bay Area classic despite Randy's going up across the street yesterday. The faithfuls know, & the line is still wrapped.

Don't shoot the messenger! I can't help it! Stan's is THAT special. 20+ years I've been coming here. And whether it's a donut on the Central Coast, or Barbados, St Croix, Monterey to Cabo, or Hawaii, Stan's is always the donut I compare all other donuts too. Not a single one brings me back over & over again. Just Stan's. Even on my birthday a box of Stan's is my most prized gift! Hint: Don't ever come between this girl & her donuts.

Without a doubt my favorite donut shop in the South Bay. It has the vibe and pricing of a local shop but the quality of a fancy eatery. I may sound like I'm over-hyping it, but I've eaten a lot of donuts in my life. I always look forward to whenever I get to have Stan's again. There will be a line. You will need cash. But everything moves quickly and especially on weekends, there are so many employees pumping out donuts. You can also take a seat at the counter for counter service, but seating is limited and you'll have people standing behind you the whole meal. If you're good with that, then I'd recommend dining in! I love all varieties of their glazed donuts, regular and cake. I feel like their old-fashioned-like donuts are the best I've ever had.

I am not a morning person, but i've genuinely woken up at 6 am to go get these donuts. They're the perfect amount of sweetness as well as airiness and pillowy texture when u bite in. Though they only accept cash they have an atm and it is 100 percent worth it. My favorite donuts in the bay fs.

Donuts from other places are often gross. Donuts from Stan's are ethereal!! These are a cult classic! If you are lucky enough to arrive at 6AM you can have your choice of some of the best Donuts in the Bay Area. Their only true rival that I have discovered is Johnny Donuts in SF. I absolutely LOVE the Chocolate Cruller from this place. They use high quality chocolate in the glaze, and the Donuts are incredibly light and slightly eggy-savory. The cinnamon twists are phenomenal and one is enough for 2 people! They have a peanut butter filled chocolate glazed donut. This is insane! Wow! I came here when I was small and sat at the counter with my grandma. You can still do that. They will serve you with a smile. Tip them generously! These Donuts are Jesus!

The best donuts in San Jose! We found out about this place while ordering food at the Pho restaurant next door. The donuts are like the famous Dunkens in New York. They have the be the softest and the puffiest of all time. They are not too sweet as many others are. Get this...most of the donuts are under $3 ($1.50-2.50). You can't get a better deal! You can't even get a *good cup of coffee for that. The only advice and tip is to order ahead and or get there early. Most favorite ones like old fashion and apple fritters and chocolate bars will be gone. The space is small and the lines get crazy. The service is great too, I got a chance to talk awhile to a worker that was visiting on his day off. Nice fellow. Enjoy!

Come early if you want that banana buttermilk. Sold out by 9am.

Line is worth it. The smells are out of control. Cant beat the glazed donut. Come early if you want that newest banana buttermilk craze.

Powder sugared raspberry jelly. Not too sweet. Just perfect.
    Drea W.

The donuts were flying out the door so fast some of them were hot at 9am, after I was in line for an hour to get my jellies! Stan's had a longer line than Randy's today! The buttermilks come in banana flavor on Sundays, and though I got one without glaze, it was really good. Stan's is still excellent. Worth the wait.

One of the best donut shops in the Bay! I've tried quite a few and these donuts just hit different. I didn't care so much for the glazed donut but I really enjoyed their buttermilk lemon. If you like old fashioned dense/cakey donuts, you will definitely enjoy the buttermilk lemon.

They may look like regular donuts until you put them in your mouth. Out of this world!

Are they able to individually wrap the donuts for large party orders? And how far in advance do we need to put in a catering order?

    How much is 1dozen glazed?

    $15, Cash Only!

Are the prices on their website accurate?

I purchased at least a dozen plus of all of my favorites for only $17. Pleasantly surprised:-)

What time do they stop making the donuts?

For phone orders do I need to still stand in the regular line for pick up?

Not in my experience.! You can go directly to the front.

Are there any dairy free options?

I don't know..... I always get the buttermilk donuts, ther are really good.

No, you'll need to wait in line. You can only order ahead when is more than a dozen.

Has their system changed since the Shelter in Place? Are they letting people in to purchase or, preorder?

As of yesterday (March 25th, 2020), only 3 people allowed inside at a time. Their hours are now 6am - 2pm.

How's the line right now ? Can I call for pick up?

Mostly yes... but they are organized and the line moves fairly well

We walked into a cozy, compact space with shelves filled with freshly baked breads, pastries, and prepared foods, all arranged in a way that makes you want to browse slowly even though the shop is small. The atmosphere has that simple, welcoming feel reminiscent of the small bakeries you find throughout Japan, focusing more on quality and variety than on a large café setup. Seating is limited, so it is better suited for grabbing something to go rather than spending a long time inside. The biggest draw here is the combination of Japanese baked goods and savory items. The bakery selection offers a great mix of sweet and savory options, with classics like melon pan standing out for its crisp sugary topping and soft interior that stays light without being dry. The curry bread and croquette bread are also popular choices, both feeling comforting and freshly made rather than overly sweet or greasy. The bakery items are reasonably priced, which makes it easy to pick up multiple things without feeling like you are spending too much, and the variety means there is always something new to try. The onigiri selection is what really makes Clover stand out compared to a typical bakery. They offer a variety of rice balls with fillings like spicy tuna, tuna mayo, and unagi, making it a great option for a quick breakfast or light meal. The rice is well balanced and the fillings give each onigiri a different personality. The spicy tuna has a nice kick that comes through without overpowering the rice, while the unagi adds a sweeter, more savory flavor that works especially well with the slightly salty rice. The onigiri are a practical, satisfying choice for anyone looking for something more substantial than a pastry. Beyond the baked goods and onigiri, Clover also has drinks, sandwiches, and desserts including cakes and other pastries. The strawberry cake is a nice lighter dessert option, and the overall menu gives plenty of reasons to visit whether you are looking for breakfast, a snack, or something to bring home. The offerings feel thoughtfully selected, with enough variety to cover different cravings without making the menu feel scattered. Service is friendly and efficient, and the small size of the shop adds to the charm. Since it has become a popular local spot, some items can sell out during busy hours, so arriving earlier gives you the best selection. Parking can also be a little challenging during peak times, but the quick grab-and-go style makes the visit easy to manage. Clover Bakery & Cafe is a great stop for anyone who enjoys Japanese bakeries. The combination of fresh breads, affordable prices, and unique savory options like onigiri makes it feel different from a standard bakery.
