We placed a service call with the after-hours service I did follow up with the local office the next morning. Courtney had already seen the scheduled appointment for the next day and moved it to an earlier time slot. Connor arrived the next day even earlier than the scheduled time. We were impressed and pleased with the service we received from Connor. He is an exceptionally professional young man and very well educated in the HVAC industry. The owner of the business ensured me that they would have someone out THAT DAY. He said it would be middle afternoon to early evening before someone could get out here, which was totally fine. At about 4pm, I had called for an update but received the voicemail. About 2 hours had gone by and I called again, this time I talked to the owner of the business who came off as having an attitude, he stated he had left me an email that someone was finishing a job and would be out here. OKAY!!! Again, I accepted this and cancelled my evening plans. No one showed up...... At roughly 9pm I get a phone call from their tech. He states that he was just finishing a job and would come out and look at our A/C unit. I stated to him that it was late and we had children that were sleeping and asked if he could come the next morning (Saturday). He stated that if that was the case we would be charged a weekend fee, or our other option would be for them to come out on Monday. This is where I should have hit the eject button and found somewhere else. NOPE!! Instead I said come on out, the unit is near the door and disturbance to the kids wouldn't be an issue. The service tech DID NOT get to our house until after 11pm. He was very rude and clearly exhausted from a long day ( I understand that part). He looked at our inside unit and then went outside. He came back in less than 5 minutes later and said it was a compressor that was rusted and he could not do anything until Monday at the earliest because he had to order the part. He then proceeded to tell me I would need to pay him $45.00 for this visit. I stated it was 5 minutes of work and he did not do anything. He stated that he could easily charge me $100. HE WAS VERY RUDE. I stated again that I did not feel I should have to pay for anything and I would like to speak with the owner of the company. He then stormed out of my house and I did not hear anything. Until Today..... I got an Invoice from them for $45.00 that says I owe them this amount for a service call in which I refused them to fix. This is by far not how this happened..... Beware of this company.

I went to a home with insufficient cooling that Childers Heating and Cooling had been to last year…read more The service ticket from Childers called for replacing an evaporator coil, metering device, vacuum, and recharging for $2600 under Trane warranty. The first observation was caps for the service ports were missing. The second observation was the suction line was too cool. Third observation was the compressor did not sound correct. With gauges on the service ports there was no Super Heat, 2 degrees of subcooling, and 44 degree suction line. Went to check the evaporator and there was no TXV present (Trane calls for a TXV/metering device). Maybe the technician replaced the TXV with piston that was too large. After pulling the refrigerant into the condenser, the piston was checked. Well, there was no piston at all. Explains all of the symptoms and poor performance. A TXV was added back to the system and is performing well. Hopefully, the compressor is not damaged. I do not understand how a technician could have done such a poor job.
