Stopped here for some fries. I read mixed reviews online about being gluten-free but I asked at the counter and they confirmed the fries were GF and all but one sauce was too. My dad and I shared a medium fry with bbq and garlic sauce. The line at 5pm on a Wednesday was quite short and we were able to order right away. They have napkins and wooden forks that you can grab. They do not have dedicated seating, but there are city benches right across that you can grab. The fries are one of the best and I didn't have any symptoms after eating.
Back again and had to Manneken Pis frites in Amsterdam. Thai visit we had the medium frites with onion, mayo and ketchup toppings. Delicious to the last frites! 5/5 A must visit when in Amsterdam. Pleasant service and they can explain the variety of toppings available. Easy ordering with 2 lines and 2 lines to pickup your order.
I mean, you kind of have to go here, or at least that's how I felt when I seen the line each time I passed it. Serious FOMO. Have no fear, the line moves quickly and efficiently. The fries were fresh and tasty. Guess when you are that busy, it'd be hard to not keep hot fries. Tons of different sauce combinations. Be careful what you ask for though. Sriracha was in equal parts to the cheese sauce. Oh, mommie! We ordered the large to share and had plenty leftovers. Street food for the win.
Stopped here right as I left Amsterdam Centraal station. I ordered a small fry with truffle mayo and Parmesan cheese. The total came out to 8.95 euros. It was definitely a big portion for sure, enough to even share between 2 people. There was no one there when I went, so I got my order immediately. It was piping hot and so fresh. The fries were crispy and delicious with the Parmesan cheese. The truffle mayo was just okay in my opinion. I've definitely had better. I would go back and try some other sauces next time. Highly recommend coming here.
I saw everyone walking around with these fries in hand, and I thought okay I'm not hungry but maybe now I am lol! There are multiple locations of Manneken Pis, but this one specifically was really organized with their lines. Which was appreciated considering how busy they were, they have one line separate for ordering and one for waiting. The person behind the counter was monitoring the line to make sure no one was cutting too. Anywho, I ordered a small fry with the Amsterdam onion sauce. Delishhhh! The fries couldn't have been more perfectly cooked. I also added some Cajun seasoning , it was a great pair with the sauce. Next time I'd like to try the curry or the cheese sauces , they had so many flavors it was hard to choose. I definitely see why this place is so popular.
Did you even go to Amsterdam if you didn't get some fries to snack on? I'd say no. This place has a line but it's worth it. The fries are fresh, well seasoned and you can add additional seasoning yourself. I got a small with no sauce and it was more than enough for me. Location is easy to find around Centraal area and allows you to snack and explore.
After doing some shopping in the nearby stores, my wife and I were hungry for a snack. On our list of things to try in Amsterdam was the french fries and mayonnaise combination. Ironically, there was the nearby Manneken Pis, which is well-known for this particular snack. Thankfully, the line was fairly short (the Yelp photos that I viewed showed otherwise) and we were able to obtain our orders in less than ten minutes (we both ordered a large fry with the truffle mayonnaise). The fries were extremely hot (just how we prefer them) and the pairing with the mayonnaise was scrumptious. However, the large size was a bit overkill and could have been shared between the two of us. If you're in the area and need a delicious snack, I recommend visiting Manneken Pis.
The frites are quite good, they landed somewhere in that middle ground not being crunchy and not being soggy. It felt less like a famed food stall and more like any corner shop. They do double fry the frites and offer an insane combination of sauces. The fry to sauce ratio was great, they lacked quite a bit on the salt though. If you're down for a fry stop, that being frites, fried cheese, or the other small sides they offer, it is worth a go. If there happens to be a long line, I'd suggest coming directly after they open for short lines, or finding another stall. Good customer service, decent selection of sauces (though no gravy or combination for poutine), and prompt timing. The ambiance is negligible, your standing next to a busy street. So don't go here for date vibes. The sizes are "Americanized" go for a medium if you think you need a large and you will be satisfied, trust me... your eyes are in fact bigger than your stomach here.
Love me some crispy, fluffy frites! You can easily spot this place from the long lines, but it does move along fairly quick. Even during a downpour of rain, people were still lining up here. That's how good it is. Once you're up, be ready to order. We got a small size (€4.25) with Cheese Sauce (+€1.25). Even for a small, this cone of fries came with plenty for the two of us to share. Add some of the seasonings they have on the side as well although only the top part gets any of it. You can't go wrong with some classic frites --yummy and fresh!
Can a heaping cone of fries really be that good? Yes, yes they can :D I got a large fry to split with my mom but we ended up plowing through them while we waited for our other fried snacks to get made. Fries were amazingly fresh, hot, big cut, crispy, well-seasoned, and with tons of sauces to choose from it's definitely a must have! I also got a Bamischijf, Kipcorn, Frikandel, and a Kaassouffle. My favorite was the Bamischijf. That thing was crazy good. I loved the seasoned spicy noodles inside the fried coating. If I'm ever back in Amsterdam, I'd stop her again and probably just get a couple of those! Mom's favorite was the Kaassouffle. She really enjoyed that warm melted cheese. Neither of us were big fans of the Frikandel as it tasted similar to any kind of sausage link you could have in the states. The Kipcorn was a little better in my opinion than the Frikandel but not as good as the Bami. The Kipcorn would have been better if we had some extra dipping sauce though, so if you do get one of those, make a note to get extra sauce for dipping! But between the incredible fries and that Bamischijf, 5/5 all day long. Great place to grab some filling snacks to enjoy as you walk around and explore! Definitely recommend this place.
Steaming, fresh, thick ol' fries in the rain? SIGN ME UP... Was roaming the streets of Netherlands when we saw this crowd in front. Had to see what the hype was about and this was easily worth the hype at 6.5 Euros ( ~$6.93). Satisfying for 3 people. Had it with their house sauce and I believe garlic. Ate it with a cute lil wooden fork. Very quick service. We walked by on another day and the line was triple the length. So glad to have tried it when we did!
I made sure that I came to this place. I ran up on it by accident, but it was a happy accident. I stood in the long line for just under 10 minutes. I ordered a medium size fries with garlic sauce with just half of the amount. I saw some of the fries of the other customers and it looked too be a lot of sauce. So I just got half. With the garlic you don't need a lot cause it punches. Very good fries though. May go back one more time. read more
Mayo on everything please! What did I get I got a small oorlog fries. This comes with mayonnaise, a peanut sauce and topped with onions. I like mayo, so that was good. The peanut sauce has a very sweet taste to it, I have tried a different place and this one compared to that, this one is less peanuty but sweeter. The fries itself... some of them seems to be overcooked, like it was double fried... Environment This is an outside store, there is no seating but there is a table.. A lot of people stand in the nearby areas to eat. There is one line that is used with sometimes 2 cashiers Niceness of the staff Very quick paced place. No time for chit chat. But the staff was not rude at all. Efficiently took my order and got my order. Dollar It was decent for me (everything in A'dam is expensive #Tourist). It was around 4 for me. Yes? I bookmarked this spot several weeks before my trip! The line is long but it goes by quickly! They have huge sizes (full meal size) and SO many sauces!! It does get a bit heavy but it's delicious! Get this and walk around Amsterdam with it. read more
Belgian fries in the heart of Amsterdam,after visiting a catholic church this is my second pit stop. I was amazed with the long line-up so to satisfy my curiousity i lined up too and tried it.,pretty clean you can see the skeleton of the place ,yhe fries they are cooking...mmmmm the smells makes me salivate,after morethan 13 minutes ahhhh its my turn,i got fries and sipping sauce if im not mistaken it has nuts in it,super delish,so so yummy.no wonder the line up is so crazy..i stayed 2 weeks in Netherland and i visited this site morethan i can remember. I recomend this to all fries lover and all the tourist in Amsterdam... trip is not complete with oit eating a fries in here.2thumbs up. read more
YASSSS can't go wrong with good fries and over 20 selections of dipping sauces! The fries are made ALL DAY and comes out fresh with your choice of sauce. You have to pay for EACH sauce except the first sauce so you probably won't be trying every sauce with 1 trip. My plan was to get 2 sauces for visit to try them all haha. The fries where great to get as a snack, as an appetizer before a meal, and even after a meal! The fries were crispy on the outside and meaty on the inside, and quite well-seasoned. I'd ask for light salt if you are watching your salt intake. You can order small, medium, or large. The small was good as an appetizer and the medium was perfect for sharing for 2 as a snack. The line does get quite long so expect to wait a good 20 minutes at least to order. Also, cash only. read more

This was the first food we got when we arrived in Amsterdam. The fries with the sauce is so good! It was drizzling so we ate under our umbrella lol. The lines are a little bit long but it does does move fast. read more

It's hard to get bad fries in Amsterdam, but the ones from Manneken Pis were the worst ones I had on my trip to the city. They were still crispy and delicious, but not nearly as good as the half dozen other establishments I randomly tried in town. The sign out front touts that these were voted the "best fries of the Netherlands," but there's nothing to back up that claim. Because of the location and this sign, the line is often long with tourists. That's a big clue: this doesn't seem like a place locals frequent. I found the service here to be very surly and unpleasant. The man working the counter was gruff and seemed to hate his job (and his customers). The menu is simple: order your fries (in three sizes) and the sauces you want (22 options, including traditional mayonnaise and more exotic options like green chile sauce and truffle mayo). The sauces come on the side (again, an obvious sign they cater to tourists instead of locals). I don't use lots of sauce but I found the sauce portion to be on the small side. The best thing about this place is the sauce dispensers! It's how the shop got its name. The dispensers are mini replicas of the famous Manneken Pis statue that's the landmark of downtown Brussels. You know the one, the little "peeing boy." It's a great photo opp when it looks like the sauces squirt out of his...well, you know where! The fries weren't very hot or fresh, although I saw them come out of a new batch. They were lacking that salty, perfect crisp bite that I expect from Amsterdam street fries. The portion size was okay (we got a small), but wasn't really big enough to share. There are far better fry places in town, don't waste your time on this one. read more

Well, some people might say that French Fries is a French Fries but I have to admit the french fries in Amsterdam were pretty good on every place that I tasted it: And this place was really GOOD. This small eatery serves only french fries and the portions are small, medium and large. I suggest the large for group of 3 or 4 people. The fries by itself were excellent in taste and textureand what make this place special is that the place has so many options for sauce besides the regular ketchup. Another plus point is that this place is within 4-5 minutes walking distance to Amsterdam main train station. I hit this place three times and tried different sauces and the best one in my opinion was garlic mayo; A bit rich in calorie but who cares about calorie when you are on vacation. :) read more

While in Amsterdam, you must eat fries, right? Before ending our night, we decided to stop at this place to get fries. There were several lines, but the wait wasn't very bad. You can choose from three sizes - small, medium, and large - and 24 different dipping sauces. One sauce comes with your order; additional sauces are at a cost. I ordered small fries with cheese sauce, and got them in a matter of minutes. They have seasoned salts available at the counter for you to sprinkle extra on your fries, so I did. The fries were so crispy and well-seasoned (even without my additional salt), and the cheese sauce (which was dropped over the top) was great, but I would've preferred to have it on the side. I'm glad I only ordered the small because they were super filling. But I really enjoyed these fries and see why they're number one fries in Holland! FYI, this is a cash-only establishment. read more
These were the greatest fries I have ever had in my life without question. It might have been because I hadn't eaten in 8 hours and just stopped at a 'coffee shop' if you know what I mean. The menu is designed for people who don't want to make a big decision on what to order. Small, medium, and large fries, with so many choices of sauce to choose (try the Samurai? Sauce. There are also a few appetizer snackables. I wondered why there was so much buzz about this place, but you HAVE to check it out if in Amsterdam and need some quick food. read more

It's near Centraal Station in a chaotic area, where tourists like us, are abound looking for exchanging currency, or souvenirs, but also for that famous fries. It carries 24 sauces from Ketchup to Schiracha, Mustard, Mayo, Oorlog(has minced onions and Indonesian sate), Peanut sauce, Curry Sauce, tzatziki sauce, Garlic sauce, Cheddar sauce, BBQ sauce and so on. I won't be surprised if tomorrow they add, Kimchi sauce or "Mang Tomas" sauce, lol. We passed this place twice but refused to queue for fried potatoes, until our last night...and chose the safe Cheddar sauce. The line could be daunting and so would be the workers, reminding me of that guy in Seinfeld's Soup Nazi episode, but the "the little pisser" was worth it. read more
What relation a "peeing boy" has to do with this window-only fries joint is way beyond me. Can anyone out there enlighten? Loud, loud street! On our way back from the ferry and into De Wallen, we stopped off at the lightning-paced queue to try our hand at 'dem ever popular cones of fries, EHHHH they could have been a wee bit more crunchy on the outside. Walking around and noticed the long queue for this place. Had a peek at the fries and waited maybe 20 minutes for them. We'll worth the wait if you ask me. Tons of sauces and 3 different sizes. Ended up getting a medium to share, it was perfect! I think the large would be good for 3-4 people. Just be very careful it can be very hot to hold. This place doesn't have seating so keep moving along or just stop around the corner to eat it. Across the street there are some benches you can sit on. Overall good fries and a fun experience. read more

Wow! Best French fries I've ever had! I added seasoning and truffle mayo. Just make sure you know what you want when you get to the ordering desk, they don't have time to talk and chat, they move fast. Best time to go is late like I did, I walked up to the order desk and did not have to wait but it was also 10:00pm when I went. read more

Manneken Pis is a street food stall, specialising in chips/fries, with long queues and great reviews on Yelp, I expected good frites here, especially with a sign, claiming for them to be voted the best french fries in Holland. The queue always seems to belong everytime I pass, however it seemed to go down quite quickly. The gluten-free selection here was great, I found out all the chips were gluten-free, and so were most of the sauces! My first preference, cheese sadly contained gluten so I opted for a rather innovative and cool pesto mayonnaise instead. The chips were priced quite competitively and the portion size was very big, the medium sized portion could have been classed as a large, and it did make a good lunch. The chips tasted like traditional chips from a fish and chip shop I'm used to in the UK, but not just better, gluten-free as well! The sauce was a little rich, and it perhaps could have been distributed more around my chips to make it better. As this is mainly a small food shop, similar to a street food stand, there isn't any seating here, this is a shame but due to the nature of the business has to be expected, although if possible adding some outdoor benches would be great to sit down, relax and enjoy the chips/lunch more. The service as mentioned was okay, the staff member had no problem in quickly checking whether certain sauces did or didn't contain gluten, although I was slightly confused at first as to where to go after ordering, it basically involved pulling to the side and standing to wait in an even smaller queue, my food was ready in about 60 seconds after ordering and paying which was good. Overall, this is a decent place to grab some lunch, but do be prepared to wait as this place gets popular and busy throughout the day, it is just chips and sauce so the menu is slightly restrictive and it would have been better to have a list of sauces available to see in the full length of the queue, rather than a screen which changes from Dutch to English, making it hard to read the full selection unless you're a very fast reader - but still after a satisfactory, decent experience I do feel Mannekin Pis deserves a three-star rating! read more
When you're here in central Amsterdam, you gotta try these fries and explore all the options of sauces. Between our party of 4, we had the garlic mayo, cheese, pesto mayo and a cajan sauce. All excellent choices! Don't think you can go wrong with any of them. read more

Very famous fries by Central Station. I waited for quite sometime. I do believe that there are 24 sauces you can choose from. I had the basic cheese sauce. I've NEVER had cheese fries before, so they were pretty good...somewhat overwhelming tho...too much sauce...it destroyed the bag. read more
To be honest we had no intention of stopping here. We saw the long line the day we arrived and decided to have it for lunch the next day. In true tourist fashion we joined the line the next day and waited maybe about five minutes to get to the front. There are 24 sauces and 3 sizes of fries that you can order. I can't say the front line staff is very helpful I asked the cashier what one of the sauces were and he said "that's a good question" lol. I ended getting what I believe was some kind of chipotle sauce on my medium fries. The young lady who made the order just put the fries in the holder and proceeded to make the next one. She didn't say anything to me or say that it was my order, so I just took it added some seasoning on my fries and proceeded to dig in. They were just meh, I think the sauce became overpowering after awhile and it just started to taste kind of bad. My mom ordered hers with cheese and though she said it didn't taste like cheese she actually finished hers. I threw mine away after about half* sadly*. I can't say I wouldn't order this again but I would just have some good ol ketchup and add the seasoning at the end. Overall I guess I would recommend stopping here and trying the food, just be mindful of the sauce you choose. read more

Food rule number 138, if there is a long line of people waiting for food, you wait on it too!!! lol So I was walking along the busy strip of Damrak which was filled to capacity with shops, it is also located across from a train. I was expecting the frites to be a little thinner, they kinda felt like crispy steak fries. The fries are double fried and are soft and pillowy on the inside and crisp on the outside. Freshly fried french fries? Yes please! Known to have the best fries in Amsterdam, I came here twice! Obsessed with joppiesaus! Tastes like curried honey mustard sauce with little bits of onions. I've had a lot of fries in my day, but WOW these are actually the best fries i've ever had. It makes me sad that they're so far away I can't get them anytime soon. My friend and I saw everyone walking around with this blue cup of fries so we decided to wait in the long line to get our fix on the way back to the train station. While it is long, the line moves fairly quickly. So we ended up splitting a large and got the special sauce and i think some other mayo one, per the cashier's advice. The large is huge, i'm around 5' 4'' and it was about the same length as my torso. Needless to say, we were so full by the end of the cup, but no fry left behind is the motto we live by. I had no idea that fries were a thing in Amsterdam, but I'm glad they are. 'Cause I love fries, who doesn't? There are spots all over town to grab a cone of fries but if you come by this place, it's well worth a try. Also, a small is not that 'small' and can definitely be shared between two people or for one hungry person. Actually, if you're two people sharing--go ahead and get a medium since you'll like the fries so much that you WILL want more. Anyway, my point is that the servings are pretty large so choose wisely. I liked that the fries were thick cut and tasted fresh! No weird freezer burn after taste. They also have a long list of sauces that you can get with your fries. I suggest asking for your sauce on the side instead of over your fries...you get more sauce that way. If you like some heat, the samurai sauce is a good choice--creamy but with a nice kick of spice. read more
