Stopped here for some fries. I read mixed reviews online about being gluten-free but I asked at the counter and they confirmed the fries were GF and all but one sauce was too. My dad and I shared a medium fry with bbq and garlic sauce. The line at 5pm on a Wednesday was quite short and we were able to order right away. They have napkins and wooden forks that you can grab. They do not have dedicated seating, but there are city benches right across that you can grab. The fries are one of the best and I didn't have any symptoms after eating.
Back again and had to Manneken Pis frites in Amsterdam. Thai visit we had the medium frites with onion, mayo and ketchup toppings. Delicious to the last frites! 5/5 A must visit when in Amsterdam. Pleasant service and they can explain the variety of toppings available. Easy ordering with 2 lines and 2 lines to pickup your order.
I mean, you kind of have to go here, or at least that's how I felt when I seen the line each time I passed it. Serious FOMO. Have no fear, the line moves quickly and efficiently. The fries were fresh and tasty. Guess when you are that busy, it'd be hard to not keep hot fries. Tons of different sauce combinations. Be careful what you ask for though. Sriracha was in equal parts to the cheese sauce. Oh, mommie! We ordered the large to share and had plenty leftovers. Street food for the win.
Stopped here right as I left Amsterdam Centraal station. I ordered a small fry with truffle mayo and Parmesan cheese. The total came out to 8.95 euros. It was definitely a big portion for sure, enough to even share between 2 people. There was no one there when I went, so I got my order immediately. It was piping hot and so fresh. The fries were crispy and delicious with the Parmesan cheese. The truffle mayo was just okay in my opinion. I've definitely had better. I would go back and try some other sauces next time. Highly recommend coming here.
I saw everyone walking around with these fries in hand, and I thought okay I'm not hungry but maybe now I am lol! There are multiple locations of Manneken Pis, but this one specifically was really organized with their lines. Which was appreciated considering how busy they were, they have one line separate for ordering and one for waiting. The person behind the counter was monitoring the line to make sure no one was cutting too. Anywho, I ordered a small fry with the Amsterdam onion sauce. Delishhhh! The fries couldn't have been more perfectly cooked. I also added some Cajun seasoning , it was a great pair with the sauce. Next time I'd like to try the curry or the cheese sauces , they had so many flavors it was hard to choose. I definitely see why this place is so popular.
Did you even go to Amsterdam if you didn't get some fries to snack on? I'd say no. This place has a line but it's worth it. The fries are fresh, well seasoned and you can add additional seasoning yourself. I got a small with no sauce and it was more than enough for me. Location is easy to find around Centraal area and allows you to snack and explore.
After doing some shopping in the nearby stores, my wife and I were hungry for a snack. On our list of things to try in Amsterdam was the french fries and mayonnaise combination. Ironically, there was the nearby Manneken Pis, which is well-known for this particular snack. Thankfully, the line was fairly short (the Yelp photos that I viewed showed otherwise) and we were able to obtain our orders in less than ten minutes (we both ordered a large fry with the truffle mayonnaise). The fries were extremely hot (just how we prefer them) and the pairing with the mayonnaise was scrumptious. However, the large size was a bit overkill and could have been shared between the two of us. If you're in the area and need a delicious snack, I recommend visiting Manneken Pis.
Love me some crispy, fluffy frites! You can easily spot this place from the long lines, but it does move along fairly quick. Even during a downpour of rain, people were still lining up here. That's how good it is. Once you're up, be ready to order. We got a small size (€4.25) with Cheese Sauce (+€1.25). Even for a small, this cone of fries came with plenty for the two of us to share. Add some of the seasonings they have on the side as well although only the top part gets any of it. You can't go wrong with some classic frites --yummy and fresh!
Can a heaping cone of fries really be that good? Yes, yes they can :D I got a large fry to split with my mom but we ended up plowing through them while we waited for our other fried snacks to get made. Fries were amazingly fresh, hot, big cut, crispy, well-seasoned, and with tons of sauces to choose from it's definitely a must have! I also got a Bamischijf, Kipcorn, Frikandel, and a Kaassouffle. My favorite was the Bamischijf. That thing was crazy good. I loved the seasoned spicy noodles inside the fried coating. If I'm ever back in Amsterdam, I'd stop her again and probably just get a couple of those! Mom's favorite was the Kaassouffle. She really enjoyed that warm melted cheese. Neither of us were big fans of the Frikandel as it tasted similar to any kind of sausage link you could have in the states. The Kipcorn was a little better in my opinion than the Frikandel but not as good as the Bami. The Kipcorn would have been better if we had some extra dipping sauce though, so if you do get one of those, make a note to get extra sauce for dipping! But between the incredible fries and that Bamischijf, 5/5 all day long. Great place to grab some filling snacks to enjoy as you walk around and explore! Definitely recommend this place.
The frites are quite good, they landed somewhere in that middle ground not being crunchy and not being soggy. It felt less like a famed food stall and more like any corner shop. They do double fry the frites and offer an insane combination of sauces. The fry to sauce ratio was great, they lacked quite a bit on the salt though. If you're down for a fry stop, that being frites, fried cheese, or the other small sides they offer, it is worth a go. If there happens to be a long line, I'd suggest coming directly after they open for short lines, or finding another stall. Good customer service, decent selection of sauces (though no gravy or combination for poutine), and prompt timing. The ambiance is negligible, your standing next to a busy street. So don't go here for date vibes. The sizes are "Americanized" go for a medium if you think you need a large and you will be satisfied, trust me... your eyes are in fact bigger than your stomach here.
This place was a solid stop for fries. In a busy area so if it's convenient you can go. The line does move on the quicker side. I thought the fries were a little too salty but maybe it was just an over-salted batch. Will definitely fulfill your fries craving.
Steaming, fresh, thick ol' fries in the rain? SIGN ME UP... Was roaming the streets of Netherlands when we saw this crowd in front. Had to see what the hype was about and this was easily worth the hype at 6.5 Euros ( ~$6.93). Satisfying for 3 people. Had it with their house sauce and I believe garlic. Ate it with a cute lil wooden fork. Very quick service. We walked by on another day and the line was triple the length. So glad to have tried it when we did!
I've had a lot of fries in my day, but WOW these are actually the best fries i've ever had. It makes me sad that they're so far away I can't get them anytime soon. My friend and I saw everyone walking around with this blue cup of fries so we decided to wait in the long line to get our fix on the way back to the train station. While it is long, the line moves fairly quickly. So we ended up splitting a large and got the special sauce and i think some other mayo one, per the cashier's advice. The large is huge, i'm around 5' 4'' and it was about the same length as my torso. Needless to say, we were so full by the end of the cup, but no fry left behind is the motto we live by. We were expecting so much more. These are basically just regular fries with a variety of sauces. Yes, the fries were fresh and crispy. But for the price, we wanted more. Maybe it was just the tourist craze...But it left us reminiscing about in n out fries. Also not sure if many people realized but the logo is of a baby peeing. read more
Simple and plain, I was walking down the street during a day of drinking and strolling and saw a few people walking by with a large purple cone wrapper full of fries with various things atop and I said that I need to have one. I followed the purple cones until I saw a purple sign and upon first taste, I was not disappointed. The spot is a walkup window with multiple long lines but the lines move quickly. I feel that there were a small handful of other things on the menu but I had tunnel vision. I order a large fry with cheese. I don't know what type of cheese sauce it was but it was pretty good atop the fries. The fries themselves are nearly perfect. They're crispy and thick and full of flavor. Hands down the best French fries in Amsterdam! Even though we tried few street French fries places this place still has the best sauce that comes along with it. I recommend to check in few times because line can be pretty long, and if you got lucky you can try more than one sauce at a time. Don't miss out on this one, you'll thank me later. These fries and their sauces are no joke! Perfectly deep fried potatoes: crispy, golden and delicious. I got 2 different sauces: truffle mayo (cant go wrong) & spicy mayo (spiciness is a slow creeper) - both amazing! Saw the line and I had to get in it to see what the fuss was all about! Literally every person on the street was holding some fries! I got the original Manneken Pis Sauce. It was interesting... I've never really had anything like it so it's hard to describe the taste. The closest thing I could compare it to was Mayo? Wasn't crazy about it but didn't hate it either! But if I were to ever visit again, I'd probably try one of their other flavors! The fries were good! Consistent cut and fried perfectly! Also loved the concept of eating them with a stick! Not really worth the price tag but it was all for the experience! read more
Located in a convenient spot in the heart of Amsterdam, this place serves hot fries and is constantly busy. Wait time is short. Serving size is plentiful, even the small is in abundance. They have about 20 different dipping flavors to choose from. Each flavor costs .50 euros to .75. Fries are thick and not too salty, just right. This isnt a restaurant that you sit down on. You walk up to the counter, order, and either take your fries to go or can eat there. They have 2 small stands you can use. read more
Walking around the Red Light district, we stumbled upon this place. Met my first requirement, LONG LINE, but it went quick. Had a variety of sauces to put on the fries. We chose the pesto mayonnaise an excellent choice. They have stands outside the booth that you can place your fries in while you stand and eat. So if you are addicted to fries like I am, this is your place. read more
Disappointed that I couldnt have these fries in Belgium, but this is probably second best. I wasn't too keen on the idea of having mayonnaise with fries, but we went for the Manneken Pis sauce on top of a small order of fries. Man, they came out hot and smothered in sauce. This fries are great. Above average and if you get black truffle mayo - wow awesome. Didn't get to try other sauces. Got the special sauce they got which costed 1.95 euros extra but worth every penny. read more
The fries were amazing. Love the variety of sauces that they offer. We got half garlic and half cheese. Garlic was delicious, but the cheese was a little different- not what were used to in America. It's cool how you can see a humongous lump of fries, and the ones they offered were still warm from the fryer (even though it was just in a bowl). Only complaint we had was the service- we have never been to a place like this and were asking questions on how it worked and the worker got super annoyed and had attitude. read more

Good but nothing great. First of all, we were walking by, saw a long line and signage that they were the best in Holland so decided we needed to give it a try. The line moves pretty quickly if you must try it but I would skip it and try something else especially if you don't want to wait. They do have a variety of sauces but not sure what all the hype is about. read more

This is the place you need to go to get some of the best fries EVER!. They serve them in a paper bag which you can get in 3 different sizes. Ask for the 'Patatje Oorlog' which is with mayonnaise, peanut butter sauce & onions there is no better combination like that, and no where in the world you can eat them like this! read more

Oh man, I could definitely go for some of these as I write this review. I'm not really big on carbs but there is always a small crowd around this little stand. I thought Manneken Pis was translated "Mannequin Piss" from another language. Good to know it's actually named after an iconic little boy statue who pees water. For a second I was thinking golden showers, clever name, yucky image. Manneken Pis are some of the best fries I will come by, with offerings of numerous choices of sauce. I chose the Samurai, a spicy thousand Island like sauce. The fries are thick, hot and crisp. Some parts are lightly browned, another side might be darker. The texture is flaky, spud-like and airy. They aren't too oily. You get a wooden poker to eat them. Basically, a small size is a full days carbs and a large is like a little bouquet of flowers, three days worth of carbs. Not the first time I have seen Vlaamse Frites, I came across a stand somewhere on the Lower East-Side of New York and I am sure there are vendors of other brands just as good elsewhere, matter of fact down the street from Damrak there's another vendor with less customers. I also know of another in Canada. read more
Great tasting fries with so many variety of side sauces. It's voted the #1 street fries in all of Amsterdam. For a medium fries and two sauces it costed about 5.50 euros. I'd just recommend coming in off peak times. The lines can get incredibly long. read more
I had to try these thick cut fries in Amsterdam after hearing all about it. Ordered a small fry with the special topping, which included mayonnaise, peanut butter, and onions. At first, I was a little hesitant about the peanut butter but decided to give it a try anyway. Turned out to be quite delicious! All the flavored worked together, oddly. The small came with a lot of fries that we couldn't even finish it. These fries are the perfect snack. I see people all around the city eating them at any time of the day. Visited Amsterdam and tried these fries .. the line was super long but went pretty fast. Got a small order of fries (which was pretty big!) with ketchup/mayo/chopped onion topping and it was definitely worth the wait. The fries were nice and hot, not salty. The smell caught my attention as we walked by on our visit of Amsterdam. I saw a lot of people in lime so I had to try it. There were so many different sauces. I had the garlic sauce and onion sauce. It was so good. I definitely wanted some more after I had it! read more
Don't come here with inflated expectations cause this place is nothing more than good solid fries - but not ones that I'd say was a highlight of my stay in Amsterdam. If you're from NYC, you may be familiar with Pomme Frites. This place reminded me of that.. the fries are pretty similar. Thank god this place isn't as hyped up as Pomme Frites is though. HUGEEEE portions. Don't try eating one by yourself. If you eat too fast, you'll probably burn your mouth. read more
You can't leave Amsterdam without having the quintessential cone of frites. Even better if it's with fritesauce, a tangy mayonnaise-based sauce that's a Dutch favourite with fries. And even better after a couple beers (but what isn't, really?). Manneken Pis is a popular choice, right smack in the middle of tourist-centric Damrak street. There's often a queue, but it moves fast, and the fries here are really good... nice crispy thick-cut with soft fluffy centres. The portion sizes are meant for sharing. We got a medium cone between the two of us and, on empty stomachs, still couldn't finish it. So go on - this is one "touristy" thing that's worth doing. read more

With the proliferation of frites stands on Amsterdam, follow the crowds for the best frites-perience. I haven't tried a great variety of fries, but among the couple that I have had, this one was superior. And comparisons aside, these fries were simply really good. The central Damrak location means high turnover, so it seems you'd always get freshly-fried fries despite the mountain of fries always piled beyond the counter. We didn't recognize any of the names of the specialty sauces, and just asked for "mayo, a spicy one if you have it". Turned out to be a good choice, the sauce was creamy, spicy, and had just a hint of sweet. We shared a small between the two of us, and the only reason we actually finished them was because they were really good. Unless you're having fries for a full meal (which would probably be ill-advised anyway) a small should be adequate for two. Besides, with other Dutch fast-food offerings in the vicinity (croquettes and such), you don't want to fill up too much! read more

Luckily for me when I showed up the line wasn't too bad. The line was moving so fast that when it was getting close to my turn, I hadn't had a chance to review all the sauces and such. When it was my turn, I felt so overwhelmed that I just asked for them to give me an order of the most popular way. The people were cool and made a couple of jokes. When he handed me my fries it was only mayonnaise on it. So I went back and said surely there's something missing cuz I know people not ranting and raving over western fries with mayo. I could have that at home for that matter. So the guy gave me a different sauce to add to it. I added the sauce on it and it was pretty good. Although good, I still don't see what all the fuss is about. I swear people love to hype things up no reason. read more
As someone beneath me wrote, how on earth can this be the no 1 spot for fries in The Netherlands?? For me just coming off a week in Belgium that had GREAT fries i would say this is a real tourist trap with mediocre fries. Not crispy but way to soft and nothing special at all. BurgerBar has better fries really and any decent burger joint back in Sweden would have similar tasting fries without claiming "best in Sweden"..... I dont know wich is the best place for fries in Amsterdam, i just know this is not the place. read more
