What a pleasure it was to have Abe inspect the home we are interested in purchasing. He was on time, which is a HUGE plus these days, and provided a detailed inspection of the home. Abe is personable and easy to communicate with regarding any concerns we had. He also provided detail explanations throughout his inspection. In the end, we felt confident we had a successful inspection. Abe gave us some "goodie" bags to include candy, retractable tape measurer, sticky note pad, band aids and pen - what a nice touch! Do not hesitate to call Home Inspection Services 845-82-4063 as your home inspector. OH...... and do not hesitate to ask to see his drone :)

But…read moreafter one phone call to Abe, I was pretty set and confident on Abe's Home Inspection Services. Over the phone, he was able to answer all of my queries and gave me a quick run-down of all the different services they provide and an accurate quote for an inspection on the house. He was also able to answer all of my "what-if" questions and ease my nerves by giving me a step-by-step on what to expect. Although my window for inspection was only 7 days, he was also able to squeeze me in for an inspection and got me my report within 3 days! I'm super grateful for that. On the day of the inspection, Abe and Nick let me join in on the process and even encouraged me to take my own notes. Every step of the way was a learning process for me and I gained a ton of new knowledge on structural info, safety, energy saving tips and more on the house. Abe gave me a packet and some goodie bags. The retractable tape measure with sticky notes and pen is really cool. He also put in some candy if you're feeling peckish, some hand sanitizer, flashlight and bandaids--all super useful stuff. Folder includes info packets, and even a final walk through checklist. He'd really thought of everything. Overall, I highly recommend Abe. His inspection gave me valuable insight on the house, and most importantly I gained a peace of mind. It's definitely worth the price!

Phil was a great inspector from start to finish. The first time I called him he asked for a bunch…read moreof details about the house and immediately started walking us through what he will be taking a look at given the age of the house. He walked us through all of the services he provides and the cost and answered all of our questions in detail. Other inspectors gave very brief descriptions of services provided, so we felt more comfortable going with Phil. We had the general inspection, wood destroying insect, radon, sewer camera, and oil tank sweep all done through Phil. On the day of the inspection, we were half an hour early but Phil was already there looking at the exterior of the house. He explained his process and invited us to shadow him and ask questions about anything we didn't understand. He was very detailed in his inspection, and took the time to explain to us any issues that needed immediate attention. The inspection lasted almost 4 hours, which I guess is uncommon because both real estate agents thought it would only take 2 hours. We closed on the house last week and have used the report a number of times when hiring contractors. Phil pointed out some structural issues in the basement which we are now getting fixed, and are slowly working through the rest of the items in his report. His detailed report makes it easy for us to send to other contractors so they know the scope of the issue. We would highly recommend Phil for any first time homebuyer with lots of questions about their new house!

I like that he categorizes items into what needs to be Fixed immediately and what should be fixed down the line. In our case, the sellers agent was on Phil's back, almost sort of pressuring him- Phil was unbothered and focused on our questions and concerns and buyers. Would recommend Phil to anyone purchasing a home in the area and would definitely use him again if I purchased another home.

True, he goes above and beyond but at the end of the day he can ruin a good deal by finding so many non-essential small issues that it creates a scary picture where two parties might otherwise arrange a happy sale. This required an adjustment to our contract's inspection period while attempting to maintain the same closing date. Talk about pressure! Apparently all of the service people in the area made the same plans we did as we only found Gary online after exhausting our list of referrals, but we couldn't be happier with the result. He is timely, detail-oriented and professional. While I trust (and will be reviewing positively) our buying agent, I did have a little extra piece of mind going into this inspection knowing that Gary wasn't affiliated with either party and had no vested interest in passing things that could be a problem. Gary arrived 5 minutes early and took his time to explain everything he was seeing in practical (and non-alarming) terms. He also explained how many things worked which was great for first time homebuyers such as my wife and I--we had our own personal living home owners manual for three hours. In addition to his observations, Gary answered all of our questions in detail and helped us to draw lines between cosmetic and structural issues as well as item 'serviceable' vs 'hazardous'. We came away that day knowing what our ask list was going to be, and his official report arrived the next day. The report was thorough and made copious use of photos with red arrows to detail issues, which left no room for questioning. He responded quickly to follow-up questions which helped us move the purchasing process along with our attorney. I really couldn't be happier with our experience.

Michael provides a super thorough inspection and pays attention even to the smallest details. He points out loose stones in the stairs, narrow parking spots that claim to fit more cars than it is realistically possible, stair handles placed uncomfortably, among other things. He also points out important things that are done not up to code and can cause serious issues down the line. It is a responsibility of a buyer to evaluate the findings and apply them, whether in negotiations with the seller, or just for your own reference later to understand what requires fixing and how urgent it is. And knowing that in advance, I think I received a superior service, because thanks to Michael, not only I received a concession from a buyer to fix an improperly installed, though working, garage door, but also avoided troubles with insurance company later by requesting asbestos removal and obtaining corresponding certificate. Michael's commission may be a bit higher than the market, but it's well worth it.

This inspector is by far the worst person any buyer or seller would want to use. He ruined the deal…read morefor our buyer as the things he reported were so far stretched that our buyer backed out. I have been told this is very typical of this man as he then gets a second inspection and gets to make more money. He actually said our furnace was leaking toxic poisonous gas and if that was the case we would have died years ago. Our furnace was also tested by a professional with no issues. He then said our garage was going to cave in at any moment and again it was checked and this too was a lie. The best one yet was he said our entire house smelt like mold and was most likely full of mold. Pretty amazing that I was a health inspector for over 30 years and know a little more about mold than this moron and on top of that my home was completely renovated within the last 5 years and we never ever had mold. If you don't perform a test how can you even state such a thing! I could go on and on with the nonsense that this man comes up with to make himself look like god. Our buyer backed out after trying to get us to lower our price substantially for issues we knew were not legit. In the end we ended up with a better price and buyer so it was a win for us and a loss for the first buyer who lost out on great house and probably overpaid for a second inspection. This man should have his license removed and will be reported to the better business bureau. Do yourself a favor and do not waste your money on this guy. No house is perfect but there are plenty of other inspectors who are not alarmists and liars like this guy! What a joke!
