Wonderful Italian bakery. They sell cannoli chips (broken shells) with the filling in a cup. You just dip the fresh crisp shells into the fresh creamy filling. Wow, this is sooooo simple and yet soooo spectacular. I wish Manninos wasn't as good as it is, I can see that I'm going to have to exercise more or visit the bakery less. read more

I have been going to Mannino's Bakery for about 6 years. At first, the bake goods were fresh and good. After yesterday, I will not be going back. I bought 4 Éclairs and they went into the trash. They didn't have much crème inside, and they tasted stale. I spent a little over $7.00 for the 4 Éclairs, and the girl told me they were on sale, 50 cents off each Éclair. So, I'm glad I got them on sale. They were on sale because they were old! This past summer I purchased jelly donuts, and a coffee cake that were bad too. I'm done wasting my money on old bake goods. The owners don't want to take a loss, so they sell it to their customers. Not good business ethics! read more

This bakery has gone downhill since they were voted best in Detroit a few years back. Let me start by saying my friend ordered her wedding cake from them. It arrived at the hall and wasn't what she had ordered. They had forgotten to place the cake topper on it, and there wasn't any design on the cake like she had requested. Next experience was a birthday cake I had ordered. It was so dry, clearly it had been made several days in advance. Most recently, we ordered a sheet cake from them and the design wasn't what we had requested. Apparently they have so many people busting through the doors, they can afford to loose longtime customers. I dorm recommend unless you want them to decide what decor is on your dry cake. read more

This bakery packs more flavor into it's tiny dwelling than shops 5 times it's size. They have wonderful little Italian pastries that practically melt in your mouth. expected so much more with these great reviews and a recommendation from a local. the best i tried was the red velvet cupcake, flavorful and moist. had high expectations for the cannoli's. they were quite disappointing for me and my adult kids. we like the thick ricotta filling that the NYC/NJ metro area make (Hillers in Livonia make the thick type) rather than the wetter lighter MI type. the glazed croissant was great, dinner rolls just plain white bread, no Italian bread taste or texture. For many years my family has been a long time Mannino's supporter, however after my experience yesterday, I will be seeking a new bakery. In early January, I ordered (in person), a 1/2 sheet cake for my mom's birthday. When I picked it up yesterday, it was on a 1/4 sheet cake, I told the woman (the same one that took my order and down payment), that I had ordered a 1/2 sheet cake, she looked at the receipt and said "Yes you did", then she flipped over the receipt and it was smudged and she said, it said 1/4 sheet cake. How about calling me and asking for sure what I wanted? She asked, if I had called to change the order and I told her no I did not. I was forced to buy another cake while I was there. No apology or compensation given. I will cease to to business with them. When I told everyone at the party what had happened, everyone said, how did they compensate you and I said THEY DIDN"T!!! Mannino's is a wonderful bakery! You can stop by and pick up many delicious treats, including bumpy cake cupcakes, mini cannoli's, Italian cookies, etc. Mannino's recently made a half sheet chocolate bumpy cake for my daughter's graduation party. It was devoured quickly by our guests, and raved about. They have a large variety of desserts and wonderful cakes. I've had their italian cassata cake before, and it's delicious too. Best cannolis and cassada cake I have ever had. I have been to several bakeries claiming to have the best cannolis throughout the country, and Mannino's by far has the best cannoli's I have ever had. I walked in without an appointment on Dec 24 for a wedding cake. As last minute as this was, and as busy as they were, the staff were courteous, cheerful and helpful. The selection of cakes and fillings were mouthwatering but I settled on a torte, white with cream "smeared with raspberry" (their suggestion). This was a simple affair - not a tiered cake - but it more than exceeded my expectations. Every bride says this about their wedding cake, but this was truly the best cake I ever tasted! Manninos Bakery is amazing. I have used them for my wedding, countless birthday parties and special occasions. Not gonna lie, their cartucci was something I craved during my second pregnancy and the first thing I ate after the birth of my second child (there's a great picture of me holding my brand new baby and a Mannino's cartucci in the delivery room).
