Our relationship with Mann's started in 2023 when we finally visited and became obsessed with the expertise, helpful yet not at all pushy, and trustworthy service we received over 2-3 visits. I was on vacation in San Jose, CA. The morning I caught my flight my watch was on time, getting off the flight the watch had stopped. I adjusted the time and within a hour it stopped again. Today I brought my wedding ring in for sizing. I had just lost it and thank God my brother in law found it in his car. I had lost some weight and my ring finger also reduced a bit in size. Forgive me as I do not recall the name of the young gentleman who waited on me. I was seen immediately and he was extremely attentive, friendly and fully understood my need. I did not want to have the ring cut to resize it and he fully cooperated with my request finding a perfect option. When I told him how impressed I was with his help I also said for sure that I was going to post a very favorable Yelp. He thanked me and said he would not charge me since I was going to do that. tl;dr: Lack of quality on resize/engrave and rude personnel Keywords: milgrain, baguette band, engraving, resize Use extreme caution when deciding to use this Jewelry store for ring resizing. I will admit, I have a complicated wedding band with alternating baguette stones around 3/4 of the band and a ruby and engraving on the inside of the band. I knew the resizing would be a situation, so I brought the ring into Mann's Jewelers after seeing all the amazing Google reviews. The people working there were very kind and had someone come from the back to evaluate the resizing. They stated it would be easiest if they were able to remove the ruby and engraving, resize, then put the ruby back in and engrave around it. Easy Peasy. They were thoughtful prior to engraving and had me come test the size. The sizing was great. I then came back to pick up the ring with stone replaced and new engraving and found that some of the milgrain on my band had been smashed. I told the clerk this and she immediately began making it seem as if i brought it in that way. I informed her I did not and asked if there is a chance the damage was done by a clamp when resizing. She told me they do not use a clamp for resizing. I repeatedly told her I did not bring it in this way and that I take frequent photos of the ring which would prove it (along with the photo taken at drop off) to which she responded "good for you". She repeatedly spoke down to me about the material of my ring and that I had been wearing it already which is what caused it. She finally agreed to keep it and have the jeweler take a look. Since she was going to keep the ring, I also mentioned that the engraving was not centered and asked if that could be redone. The jeweler was very kind when he called me and stated the damage was done when he used the clamp and that he would work on it. We also discussed the engraving and that it is done using a machine, which is why it can be difficult to get centered. I told him I completely understand and asked if he could just remove it and I would get it redone somewhere that they hand engrave. I then received a text message that the ring was ready and, to my surprise, that they had gone ahead and engraved it again. I arrived to pick up my ring and was met with the same person I dropped my ring off with who was very kind. I informed her about my experience with the single clerk who was rude and she apologized profusely. It should be noted, the other two clerks were extremely kind and helpful as well. I reviewed the ring looking for any other concerns and did not find any. I came home and showed my partner who noticed that yes the engraving was centered around the ruby but now the ruby was not centered on the band. I called to inform the person I had just spoken with who sounded agitated over the phone. I tried to explain that the engraving was not the issue and it is the ruby placement and she firmly stated "Mary, listen to me" and continued to discuss the engraving saying they would remove the engraving and just refund me if I came back up there. After being scolded like a child, I reiterated the issue is with the ruby. After getting off the call (about 30 min ago) I spoke with my partner and we decided it was not worth a few hundred dollars to continue dealing with this business and we decided to go to a different jeweler. Watches, rings, bracelets... and the potential collection of your significant other. Your watch breaks, who do you call to fix it? It's a bit like trying to find an attorney or a new dentist. You know you need one, but where do you start? Luckily, my mother directed me to Mann's Jewelers. She said they'd been in downtown Willow Glen forever and that my uncle Larry (the family miser) swore by them. I had a couple of watches that needed TLC. Not the least of which was a family heirloom (my grandfather's Rolex, which my grandmother gave him as a wedding present). This was not the sort of valuable one would feel comfortable leaving with people you didn't know or trust, so my mother's endorsement made me feel a little better. Unsure of what to expect, I walked into Mann's a little hesitantly on a Thursday afternoon. There were two ladies manning the store and one immediately engaged me upon entering. I explained that I had a couple watches that needed fixing - one was a resize, the other was a broken pin in the clasp. Within seconds, I realized these ladies were experts. They were so careful and respectful of my watches, I really felt like they understood how precious both pieces were to me. They fixed the pin on my Rolex within minutes and gave me a business card for someone who specialized in cleaning and maintaining Rolexes (they explained, the company was very selective about who could work on them and who couldn't). My Versace, they said, would need another day because the hands on staff were not currently strong enough to get it apart. Within 1 business day, I got a text that my watch was ready. Upon return, I got a different couple, but they were both equally helpful and polite. In the end, I got two watches fixed for less than $20, it took less than 2 business days, and (the best part) I now have a local jeweler that I trust. While I waited for them to fix the pin on my Roley, I took inventory of the various rings and necklaces they had on display and I can pretty much guarantee my wife's next anniversary gift will come from here. Very classic, timeless stuff. Great experience and while you never hope for broken jewelry, there's a small part of me that can't wait to return to this shop. I hope you give them a try! read more

IMHO To clarify, I've never purchased anything from Mann's Jewelers. My friend was in search of a reputable and trustworthy jeweler to repair her rings. She figured if Mann's had been in business on Lincoln Ave. in Willow Glen for as long as we've enjoyed shopping along the row, she figured she'd give it a try. My friend loved the customer service she received and the quality repair work so much, that she comes back regularly to have them cleaned and inspected. Whenever we enter the store, we are always warmly greeted and sometimes offered bottles of cold water! On a past visit, I picked up a plastic bag from the counter to collect scrap jewelry parts, broken chains, single earrings, etc., which the store will evaluate for current worth. Depending on their valuation, they will either buy your scrap jewelry or give you credit to their store. Over the years I added pieces to the bag that I had no idea of it's value or worth. I just knew that I didn't want to hold onto these orphans anymore. Most of my stuff was crap, but a small portion of broken gold pieces garnered me $20. Hey, I'll take it! This is a little gem of a jewelry store that I assume is family-owned. It is very apparent that customer service is their first priority. Someone immediately asks you if you need help as soon as you come in. It's not one of these dead places where there are nobody shopping because the prices are so darn high. They sell Diamond and engagement rings, gold chains, earrings, bracelets and necklaces. Their prices can range from $2800 for a pair of cluster diamond earrings to $29,000 for a pair of diamond earrings solitaires surrounded by a circular jacket. From what I could tell I would say the store is very affordable to moderately affordable. I bought a beautiful pair of Amazon moonstone earrings and the store not only paid the tax but also included a free polishing cloth for all my other jewelry. read more

The staff here is quite nice and friendly. I sent my new watch here to resize its bracelet, but I was told that the watch had to leave there, they will text when it's ready. I have to go back again to pick up the resized watch. Late I found one gold link was missed in the components removed from bracelet. After 3 days, I called them, they immediately returned the Gold link to me :) In total, I have to visit the store 3 times to resize my watch. When you happened to use their friendly service, pls ensure you double check whether any valuable components(gold, diamond and etc) missed. Have been taking my watches to Mann's for several years now. Up until recently never had any issues with battery and band replacement. Last year, brought in my 90's Hamilton Ventura and Shinola watch for battery replacement. They asked if I could leave the watches with them, for a couple of days. Sure no problem. When I returned to pick up the watches, I was told that the Hamilton had problems besides the dead battery. They told me that I would have to take the watch to a watch repair service. Furthermore, they told me that they couldn't get the back off the Shinola, to replace the battery. I ended up taking the watches to a shop in Millbrae and the jeweler said that Manns stuck a piece of scotch tape to hold the battery in place, but it was mis-positioned. Nothing wrong with the watch. This past weekend, took my Swiss Army watch there for a band replacement. The band that that had to be replaced was one they had put on last year. They tried putting on a smaller band but was told that they couldn't make it work. The employee that is designated for watch repair was told to quit spending so much time on my watch. The employee told me she was having great difficulty putting the old band back. I told her don't fret over it. She returned the unwearable watch in a paper pouch minus the spring that secures the band. I don't have any confidence in their watch maintenance ability any longer, so I won't patronize their shop for that purpose. Their jewelery is ok. though. Spent $1200 on a neckalace earlier in the year. Wife was happy over it. read more
