We had the pleasure of staying at our first bed and breakfast with Manor House Inn. It was everything else and more that we wanted out of a bed and breakfast! First of all - service was great. We were getting in later than what we thought, around 9:30 or so, but that was no issue for them. They were there to meet us as soon as we got in! I was also able to buy a national park pass, forward it on to them to print for me so we could get hiking early in the morning! There were four of us in two separate rooms. Our first night both of us couples were in the Acadia Cottage. This was a cute cottage with I believe 4 rooms. Both of our rooms were very spacious! My only complaint with the room was that there was not enough lighting in the bathroom. There was only one small overhead light that did not provide enough light - especially in the shower area. I also appreciated that there was a small fridge in the common area of this house that could be shared among the 4 rooms in this building. Made it great for us since we like to fix our lunches when traveling! On the second night, one of us was in a garden cottage (on its own! very quiet and nice) and one of us was in the main house on the top floor. After getting to see and stay in different rooms, I would probably not stay in the main house again. It can get noisy with people coming and going at different hours to go on different tours. Also, the layout is not as spacious as the other rooms - some awkward layouts. Breakfast was lovely! They fixed a different meal each time. The only con, is if you do not like something, you will have to go somewhere else because not much else is offered other than the main fixing. For example, one morning was corn beef and hash. No thanks, so I ended up having oatmeal. Not much else for me. The only other thing I would suggest to the Inn is that they fix their ability to multi book a room. It was a pain to book. We booked the 4 last rooms on these two nights. Because we were changing rooms, I could not book different rooms all at once. I had to individually book every room. So it was a little time consuming and mundane. Would have been nice if I could have added all 4 rooms into a "cart" and then checked out. Definitely recommend this place, but if you are a light sleeper and want room, be careful on the room you pick to stay in. read more

Found this place last minute, and could not have been happier. Perfect location in Bar Harbor, walking distance to restaurants and the waterfront. Rooms were pristine, spacious, and charming. This was the second hotel during our Maine Honeymoon. We only stayed here one night, but the service was excellent. The staff held our bags while we went for breakfast and a quick hike. We upgraded for a room with a private bathroom, which was right across the hall. I think this was a great idea, and they had a "dressing" room area connected to the private bathroom. The Inn did not have a TV, but it did have a radio. This was a pleasant change and made for a relaxing evening inside. Breakfast was a buffet style, eggs, fruits, juice, bacon, and oatmeal. All delicious items. We ate breakfast on a table outside. The weather was beautiful! We will definitely share our experience with others and will visit again! read more

My sister & I kidnapped our stepmom for her birthday and came to Bar Harbor to celebrate. We could walk anywhere, the building is beautifully preserved, the staff is fabulous and it is well appointed. It is truly truly awesome and a perfect getaway. The pictures do not do it justice. We had 3 people and three separate beds!!! My only reservation is that the staircase is pretty steep & narrow & we were on the 3rd floor. If you have bad knees, you might want to ask for a room on a lower floor. Other than that, it was truly truly awesome. read more

Amazing place! This was our first bed and breakfast and surely won't be our last. Rooms are nicely appointed, incredibly comfortable, and most have private baths. Breakfast consists of a warm egg or fruit casserole dish, a meat, a warm side, coffee cake, fruit, oatmeal, cold cereal, juice, coffee, and assorted teas. If you can't find something you like, you're impossible to please. Daily housekeeping is included in each spacious unit. The rooms have such character!! You will encounter friendly guests of a variety of ages. The owners employ two innkeepers who are helpful and happy to assist with any needs you may have. We will definitely be back! read more

So incredibly charming. We accidentally reserved a stay here for the wrong night, but the staff here accommodated us and actually put us in the suite. Great location, great food, great people. Sitting on the porch during afternoon tea was delightful. We'd gladly stay here again. read more

Great location, only 3 minutes to main street ; Bar Island is just one block away; decent price: almost the cheapest among the B&B in town ; great service and breakfast. The only thing that I can think of about improvement is wireless, which is minor. Great experience!! read more

I recently stayed here with my boyfriend in one of the Garden Cottages. We had an amazing time! The breakfast was delicious both of the days we were there (especially the rhubarb coffee cake)! We had plenty of privacy but the staff was attentive and helpful. We were checking in late and one of the innkeepers left me a lovely, detailed message of instructions for what to do when we arrived. I would absolutely recommend this inn to anyone staying in Bar Harbor! Amazing location as well! read more

Manor House Inn is the only place we have ever stayed since 1998. We stay a week each visit because it is the most relaxing week we have all year. Stacy and Ken continue to run a lovely and warm B&B in a primo spot of Bar Harbor. We start off every day with a high quality breakfast -- Joyce knows how to make great food! The coffee is also very good (and I see others drinking tea in their china cups). The rooms are in great shape and very clean. It's just a beautiful estate. Stacy, Ken, and Joyce also know the island like the back of their hands, so they make great suggestions from what to do and where to eat. We highly recommend this wonderful, cozy, historic place. A charming spot, well worth the visit. We've previously stayed at two other Bar Harbor inns (both nice), but this one is now at the top of our list and we will definitely return. Stacie, Joyce and Diana were as nice and helpful as could be. The inn itself is a charming three-story house with some side cottages. A comfy front porch makes a warm welcome and inviting respite. A roomy front room/parlor is equally inviting. Located a very short two blocks from the heart of Bar Harbor's shopping/dining district on Main Street, this is about as convenient a location as you're going to find. Morning breakfast includes both egg dishes with bacon or sausage as well as oatmeal and fruit for those seeking a healthier alternative. Afternoon tea and cookies round out the package. Be aware that some of the rooms share a common bathroom while others have their own private bath. Plenty of off street parking. read more

Beautiful grounds, cozy rooms and friendly staff. This place blew my expectations out of the water. I am used to accommodations at large mega resorts in Vegas, so to say the least, this was off the beaten path for me. I was nervous about the prospect of staying in what would feel like someone else's "home." I was fearful that they would be nervous I would break something, or they would be overbearing. This was not the case. The staff was available and accommodating, when I needed them. I am a younger traveler and typically spend a large part of my vacations in bars. I was fearful the Manor House Inn would be too 'stuffy' for my personality. It was not. We stayed in one of the two Garden Cottages. These looked more modern in decor, on the website. These cottages are in the garden set apart from the main mansion, providing more privacy, which allowed us to come and go without feeling like we were being watched. The cottage was reasonably sized, with a main bed/living room and small bathroom. There were plenty of windows for light and air, and a small window AC unit. There was a fireplace and a small TV. Housekeeping cleaned our room nicely everyday, and the room was clean upon check in. There were nice spa toiletries provided in the bathroom. The bed was comfortable enough, although not outstanding in any way, it was a queen, which is small when you are used to an oversized king, but I was aware of this well before I reserved. The staff was really nice to us. The check in process took about 5 minutes, they showed us our room, explained a few things about the property and let us be. There wasn't the usual staring at a computer screen for 15 minutes that we are used to at the large hotels. We enjoyed the breakfast each day in the mansion. Everyday they invited us in when they saw us approaching the door. The food was very good, not the typical continental breakfast consisting of boring pastries. One day was quiche and the other was blueberry stuffed french toast. I felt comfortable serving myself to the buffet style set up. The first day, the power was out due to a storm, and they still had warm food. We didn't interact a whole lot with the staff, due to our busy schedule, but they seemed open to conversation, if one desired. The staff (especially Janie) made the entire stay very comfortable. I felt 'at home' in someone else's home. The location is just barely off the main downtown area of Bar Harbor, I don't even think it was a 5 min walk to anything downtown. The place definitely had a more colonial feel to it, but it didn't feel old or stuffy. Definitely the best of both worlds, a classic feel with modern comfort and convenience. I hope my review encourages more people to stay here, this is my thank you to the staff at the Manor House Inn, for making it such a wonderful stay. read more

We spent our honeymoon here and couldn't have been happier. We had one of the garden cottages which was cozy and private. The inn is in a great location, it's easy to walk to restaurants and attractions. The staff was friendly and the breakfasts and snacks were delicious. This place is wonderful. It is a five minute walk from the Village Green (the park where the free shuttle buses that go all around Acadia National Park depart from), a two minute walk from the beautiful downtown area and the staff are professional, knowledgeable and extremely friendly. The breakfasts were great. Each day the main dish was different (I was there three days and we had pancakes, quiche, and french toast) and there was always oatmeal, cold cereal, fresh fruit, coffee and some type of pastry. Everything was homemade by the morning innkeeper and, again, was delicious. There is also parking on the grounds, which if you have never been to Bar Harbor, is a HUGE amenity. We parked our car when we arrived and didn't drive it again until we left three days later. The free buses took us to whatever part of the park we wanted to hike that day and since all the shops and restaurants are less than five minutes walking, there was no need to drive anywhere.
