When we took the Naans out of the foil wrap, we were disappointed to see that the Naans has some dark Fingerprints-like spots on them and decided not to eat them. I went to a birthday party where the main entree was Indian. I decided to bring some samosas. My friend lives in Kent and found this restaurant on yelp. I called my order in and about 25 minutes later, I pulled into the parking lot and picked up the samosas. They were ready and on my way out went to the party! This is a tiny place, easy to miss with a sign that blends into a cookie cutter strip mall. The location is unexceptional but the food...oh the food. As soon as you open the door, you are surrounded by an array of delicious scents, and the food delivers on the promise of its aroma. My personal favorite is the butter chicken at a 2 level of spice: the perfect comfort food. I have never dined in, only ordered takeout, so I can't speak to service except to say that everything has been fresh, piping hot and properly prepared, totally tasty. Be aware that portions are not large, so there is that to consider if you are on a budget. In terms of quality you are getting what you pay for. A spinach, garbanzo bean and then a lentil. There was also a white creamy yogurt type sauce (im not exactly sure) and the rice dessert. Me and my husband inhaled it. The spinach curry is creamy, the garbanzo beans were firm and savory and the lentils were very flavorful. The curry was wonderful but to be honest I covet the dessert for myself. Its sweet and aromatic with herbs. I've never eaten something like that except in Indian restaurants and I love the nuts and seeds in it. The texture of the rice in the dessert and the sweet aroma is really why I keep ordering the lunch combo. I still remember the first time I had the dessert. For an Indian place in Kent, this place is very reliable and tasty. We ordered the palak paneer, goat curry, onion khulcha, and roti. Our order was ready for us in 20 min. The palak paneer is full of spinach-y goodness. The goat curry is well-spiced and the meat was tender. The onion khulcha was nice and pillow-y, and the roti had a nutty, whole wheat taste to it. If I could give this place 6 stars, I would. The service and the food were equally amazing. I was so excited to try this place so when their new food truck came to my neighborhood, I was ecstatic. The only thing that stooped me from getting one of everything on the menu was the guilt I would have later after I ate it all. We ordered Chicken Curry, Chicken Tikka Masala, Garlic Naan and Veggie Samosas. The chicken Tikka Masala was the BEST I have ever had and I could eat plates and plates of that. The samosas were HUGE and came with a delectable sweet dipping sauce. The chicken curry was rich and had so much flavor. I am already planning my next trip to the restaurant so I can try other dishes that they didn't have. The owner and cook of Manraj was also the one serving food on the truck. He was the friendliest man I have ever met. He instantly treated me like family and was quick to ask what kind of dishes that I like so he could give me recommendations. Came in for dinner on a Sunday night. There was another table that was occupied aside from us when we came in. The server immediately said hi to us and instructed us to take a seat. The menu was already on the table to after a few minutes of waiting we ordered, some hot chai tea, the assorted appetizer, garlic naan, butter chicken and chicken tikka masala. The appetizer sampler consisted of some battered fried onions, vegetable samosa, bartered chicken, meat kabob and vegetable pakora. They also served it with their chutneys. Whatever you do, order this. It's soooooo delish. The batter was light and not greasy at all. The vegetable samosa was stuffed with creamy potatoes for the most part. Mix the green (I don't know what it's called) and plum chutney then dip everything in it. But then it took forever to get out dinner otherwise I would have given them 5 starts. There were only 3 tables aside from us (all with 3 people sitting) but the food took at least another 40 minutes from when we got our appetizer. I did notice that they have a lot of pick up ordered which I think they prioritized more than the people sitting in the restaurant. We finally got our food and the butter chicken was buttery, creamy and melt in your mouth. The Tika masala chicken was also good. The rice was fluffy and the garlic naan was fluffy but had a crunchy bottom. Everything had the right amount of spices. I wish I had ordered the bread basket instead bec those sauces were so delish. I could just keep dipping the naan in the sauces. Oh and if you check in via Yelp, you get a FREE rice pudding which was really creamy, a little floral and a little sweet. Not your typical rice pudding as it was a little loose in consistency but a very nice way to end the meal. Oh and the chai tea to me, needs a tad bit more spice but very good too.
